Found four more today at a different Circuit City. Fifa Soccer 2004 for Gamecube NCAA Football 2K3 for PS2 NBA Live 2K3 for PS2 Rocky for PS2 I was considering NCAA Basketball 2K2 or 3 (unsure of which year it was, because I saw TONS of basketball games there today), but since I just got NBA Courtside the other day, and NBA Live today, I held off. Gotta keep somewhat of a budget, lol.

PROMO: "Good Morning, Hawaii!"
Zack Malibu replied to Chuck Woolery's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
I'm hoping that was sarcasm, considering I've had quite a few singles matches here. -
While the War Games match sounds good, I just don't think they'll be able to top the pure emotion of last years show. Jacobs is back? Did I miss something in the last few weeks?

Zack Malibu replied to the.weej's topic in Brandon Truitt
UPDATED 1/31/05 Smarks Board Name: Zack Malibu Wrestlers Name: "Urban Legend" Todd Cortez Height: An even 6 ft. Weight: 226 lbs. Hometown: Now hails from "Hollywood Boulevard" as a homage to his now retired tag team partner Mike Van Siclen Age: 20 Face/Heel: Babyface Stable: Martial Law (Landon Maddix and Alan Clark) Ring Escort: None Weapon(s): None Quote: "Bow down or throw down." Looks: [Description of how your character usually looks inc. ring attire.] Thick build, as Todd is jacked but not excessively "cut". Natural olive skin. Closely cropped black hair, faded. Thin black goatee. No tattoos or really distinguishing marks, as even his skin is "pure" due to his straight edge philosophy on life. Black baggy, "Tajiri" style pants, with "Urban Legend" scrawled in graffiti type writing down the legs. Both wrists and fists taped up. Wears gold chain and cross to the ring, but removes it before every match, holding it in his hand and kissing it before handing it over to the timekeeper or announcer. During entrances, now wears a bulletproof vest, and more of than not may have sunglasses on. Ring Entrance: [How you come out to the ring, music, etc. No need to be extremely specific.] The lights go low, and Fabolous' "Breathe" starts to pulse over the speakers. Green spotlights will shine and strobe along the length of the arena. Once the beat drops and the first verse begins, pyro will explode from the floor of the stage. Cortez then storms out of the back and will work the crowd before powerwalking to the ring. Stats: Strength: 4 Speed: 6 Vitality: 5 Charisma: 5 [Can not exceed 20 points in total... NB: Strength, speed, vitality and charisma play a vital part on what moves your wrestler is capable of. Keep this in mind when you write your move lists. See the guide down the bottom of this thread. Maximum of 10 per catagory.] Style: [is your wrestler technical? Power based? Fast? Put it here.] Best way to describe Cortez is with the 3 S's. Speed, streetfight, or submission. While not a total speedball, Cortez is highly accustomed to the cruiserweight style. His martial arts training and his personal experiences have made him into someone you'd want on your side if you were walking down a dark alley. Last but not least, Cortez has shown a great focus on submission holds during his short SWF tenure, with both Street Dreams and The Hook Up leading him to some big wins. Signature moves: [Maximum of 10. Minimum of 6. The moves that make your wrestler famous. Most of the things people have in there top 10 can be considered signature moves.] Hollow Point: aka Monty Brown's Pounce. A spear like charge, traditionally to the opponent's side rather than head on. Mainly used to turn the tide to his favor, or during a focused attack on the ribs. Shooting Star Plancha (daredevil move, only used in the heat of battle, never "just for the hell of it") Shooting Star Flying Lariat (dive executed Shooting Star style, on the way down Cortez will extend an arm/both arms out (depending on number of opponents) and connect with a lariat). Springboard Rana Handspring Elbow (with opponent in corner) Sitout Spinebuster Quebrada (second rope moonsault/Jericho's "Lionsault") Superkick (I would say Todd's would have more effect than a normal, transitional one, as he's got the background in martial arts.) Backdrop Driver Discus Clothesline Common moves: [Maximum of 20, 15 preferable. Minimum of 10. The more mundane stuff that your character might use. This is outside of scoop slams, clotheslines, etc, but could include the more stylised suplex, and the like.] Shoulder jawbreaker STO takedown Single leg dropkick Spinning wheel kick Huracanrana Snap powerslam Senton Splash (not a Swanton/flipping senton, but rather just dropping all his weight, back-first onto his opponent, a la Dick Togo). Hangman's Neckbreaker Palm strikes Clubbing forearms Somersault Plancha (any variation, be it slingshot, top rope, running, etc.) Camel Clutch Single-Arm DDT Stepover Armbar (will also put a twist on this move by putting a knee on opponent's shoulder area and digging it in). Judo-throw (ex: blocking a punch, and then turning with your back to opponent, flipping them over your shoulder). Pendelum style backbreaker Snap enzugiri (does not have to be a counter/opponent does not have to be holding one leg). Sweep kick Flying lariat (either from top rope or springboard). Legdrops, hit from anywhere. Running, top rope, springboard, apron, somersault. CHARACTER NOTE: Todd can and will "switch it up" when it comes to even simple moves, always looking for new ways to execute them. Cortez strives to be an innovator, and is one who thinks on his feet during his matches. Todd is a good all rounder, as we've seen him brawl, fly around the ring, and tie people up with submission holds. He's not limited to just one style, and will always "adapt" to who he's fighting, finding the best route to combat them with. Rare moves: [Maximum of 5. No minimum needed. The moves your guy might use every once in a blue moon. He's capable of them perhaps, but might not fit his style, or he may only go up against people he can use these moves on once in awhile] Moonsault Fallaway Slam-with opponent propped on top rope, Cortez stands on the second rope, and grabs opponent in a fallaway slam position, but springs himself off as well, floating over and driving his opponent into the mat, powerslam style. Super Somersault Rana-Todd will launch himself at an opponent Somersault Plancha style, but will catch their head with his legs and snap them over with a huracanrana. Is typically done from the top rope into the ring, but in excessively brutal, "win at all costs" battles, can be done to the opponent on the outside as a highspot of all highspots. Urban Assault-Todd's formerly favored finisher, he now reserves this at a tide turner. It can and will still end matches, but it's been put on the back burner in favor of the Riot Act Plus. Finishers: [2 preferred. 3 at the absolute most. Minimum of 1. EG, 1 power move, 1 submission, 1 top rope, etc... Try not to use the same finisher as somebody else. AN ANKLE LOCK IS NOT A FINISHER! Don't have two finishers if you don't need them.] Riot Act Plus-Canadian Destroyer. Todd positions his foe in a standing headscissors, as if to set them up for a piledriver. Instead, Todd leaps over their back, pulling the opponents weight over with him as he lands on his feet and spikes their head on the canvas with a piledriver. The name is Todd paying homage to the man who got him his break in the SWF, Mike Van Siclen. *NOTE: Should not be used on opponents over 260-270 MAX. This is mostly a cruiserweight offensive move, however it would be possible for him to pull it off against a smaller heavyweight wrestler. Don't look for him to do this to someone like Janus though. YOU CAN NOT KICK OUT OF THIS WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION. You want to counter it, go ahead and try to, but do NOT use it as a near fall. This move knocked Dace Night the fuck out, and that should mean something. Street Dreams-Dragon Sleeper/Armbar takedown w/ grapevine. Opponent is grabbed in a reverse facelock (Dragon Sleeper), and Todd takes them to the mat, wrapping his legs around them to make escape tough to come by. With his free (left) arm, he'll wrap it around the opponent's left arm and pull back, also putting pressure on the left shoulder/upper arm area. The Hook Up-the new, odd looking finisher that Cortez has been using lately. With the opponent on their stomatch, Cortez will kneel down on their upper body, pressing his knees against his opponents shoulders to pin them down. Todd will then reach back and pull the leg of his opponent (can be either one, depending on what one is weaker), bending it over his own shoulder before pulling down on it and attempting to snap the leg in two. It's sort of a Sicilian Crab with a twist to it. NOTE:Several of the signature moves may also be used as finishers at various points during his career, but they are non-specific. Notes: [A general description of fighting style and ethic. Anything you want to say about how your character comes across.] Todd should come across as someone who doesn't WANT to win. He should comes across as someone who HAS to win. He will always be focused on his opponent and the task at hand, and is not afraid to get hardcore. He may have benefitted from his martial arts/wrestling training, but the streets have served him just as well. He's very determined, almost to the point of stubborness, but will never let a loss or an attack take him off his game. Once he's got you in his sights, it will remain that way. Bio: [Optional. A bit of backround information about your wrestler.] Todd Cortez is a young man who has seen all too much in his short life. One of four children, Todd was raised solely by his mother after she divorced the children's alcoholic father when Todd was just 2. Having looked at his older brother Joshua as a father figure, Todd was scarred permanently at the age of 11 when Joshua, then 25, was killed by a drug dealer whom Joshua's friend owed money too. Vowing to never resort to the "low road" of drugs and alcohol, Todd focused on growing up to be the keeper of his family, protecting them at all costs. He enrolled in a local martial arts school, and took part in his high school wrestling team, winning the State Championship for his division. Despite being pure of heart and mind, Todd couldn't help getting into brushes with the law, as his fights with local thugs and bullies landed him stints behind bars on more than a few occasions. Feeling that he was disgracing his family name by his constant trouble, he's opted to channel his aggression in a more resourceful way, as his SWF paychecks enable him to support himself and his family. Some view Todd as too cocky for his own good, and as having a chip on his shoulder. Todd feels otherwise, that his straight edge lifestyle proves he's better than most people out there, and can back up his boasts whether in the ring or on the street. After being sent to the SWF to replace another unknown, Shane Thompson, in a tag match with Mike Van Siclen as his partner, Todd stuck around and forged a bond with "The Spectacle". Crowning themselves "Hollywood Boulevard" as a combination of Mike's Tinseltown dreams and Todd's street life. Despite a brief period of tension during the 42nd Street days (where Masked Man became Todd's partner as a sub to Mike, thus pissing him off), the duo forged quite the record in short time, winning a Casino Brawl and becoming crowd favorites with the formation of Urban Empire (with Masked Man). After making history and becoming the longest reigning SWF World Tag Team Champions in history, Van Siclen has now seen his career end at the hands of perennial Boulevard rivals Revolution Zero, and Toxxic in particular. After swerving the Revolution into thinking Mike had returned, cloaked by a white mask and now dubbed "Ghost", Cortez attempted to break down the rulebreaking clan, but found it easier said than done. Despite insurmountable odds, Cortez kept coming, and recently captured Sean Davis' HGC Title at Slay Ride, on the same night Davis took Todd's USJL Title and left him for dead. With the "Ghost" debacle revealing not Mike, but a returning and rejuvenated Alan Clark, as well as Landon Maddix dethroning Toxxic and taking away his iron grip on the federation, the three men who have been wronged by the Revolution now look to set things right, dubbing themselves "Martial Law" and vowing to do whatever necessary to see that Revolution Zero crumbles before them. -
I have no idea. You know how that moron would take the slightest bit of info and turn it into something huge. "Holy shit, PW Insider reported John Cena slept wrong last night! Could this affect his workrate? -Glenn-

Hey Glenn, stay the fuck off the website.

You can find the older Punisher movie in the Wal-Mart bargain bin. I believe it was an Australian production as well. It's completely an original story, as you'd never see Punisher striking a deal with a mob boss out of any form of sympathy. The recent version was much, much better. The '90's version is a good popcorn action flick, nothing more. I believe a Hulk sequel is coming, and I can't wait for it. I loved the first one and am a fan of anything Hulk as it is. A Punisher sequel is also rumored, but the talk of it being direct to video is something new. I'd doubt it going DTV though, since Marvel is raking in the dough at the box office.

I think it works better with La Rez because Triple H can continue posing as a good guy by taking on the hated heels that picked on Eugene. La Rez are simply expendable to Triple H, so by acting like Eugene's savior, it's not much of a stretch to have him taking on heels.
-
I think Eugene and Triple H may have the tag titles by Vengeance. Think about it: Triple H is playing Eugene for a fool, and turning all his friends against him, all while trying to maintain the illusion that he cares about Eugene La Resistance were the first people to trash Eugene upon his arrival Triple H could remind Eugene of that on RAW, and say that he should get them back for what they did in the past by booking himself and Eugene against them. That way, despite everyone trying to get Eugene away from Triple H, they really can't since they're bound by the tag titles. It's also a great way to get some gold on Eugene and portray him as "for real" while the character is hot.

Yeah, now BPP has heat, Zack is the main event, TSS didn't surive, Mario contributes nothing to us or society, AS isn't around, and Alf still sucks.
-
I believe that would be from deleted members like TheSoleSurvivor (who hasn't posted here in about a year) or Mario perhaps. And whoa, I remember that show! It started the whole Evenflow/Zack become the "real" In Crowd storyline. I miss Ed!

I say wrestle outdoors in the old prison yard. Sets of bleachers surrounding the area, with more fans inside at a special live screening not unlike the old closed circuit airings. So you've got fans on the inside and outside of the prison. Also, this will be a two-part event, with Nights 1 and 2. That's all that can be said until a certain something on HeldDOWN~!.

I demand BurgerTime be on one of these old school comps someday. I adored that game as a kid, and had it on an emulator on my old comp, but lost it when I lost said comp.

Face Regal playing the straight man to Eugene, or in the past Tajiri, has always been gold. I also think the Regal/Eugene relationship gives some depth to Regal other than snobby British prick who can wrestle. Like Rudo said, it shows that even as despicable as he is, he has his limits. The Regal turn has seemed rushed and not well fleshed out at all (it never actually happened, we just had Regal and Bisch have the falling out), and it was done pretty much, IMO, to make Trips look like that much more of an asshole. If I were booking this angle, I'd have had Triple H in Regal's ear at first, making sure Eugene played ball and didn't suspect anything, only to have Regal grow more and more frustrated with Triple H's exploitation of the poor guy and snap. Regal whipping out the brass knux and popping every in Evolution in the jaw would be a great scene.

Cabana Leaves IWA Mid-South
Zack Malibu replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in General Wrestling
I thought the full rights to the ECW library were McMahon's? Not like that stopped that bootlegging assclown from selling tapes before though, but why announce that they'll still be selling them? -
It will be.

Honestly, I'd break up The Bashams. Make it a Velocity exclusive angle for the time being, like the Stevie Night Heat angle was to Heat. Build up a split, because in singles they could both do better than what they're doing now. Jordan should be placed with Jindrak and Long, not because of the race factor with he and Long, but because Long is a great talker and Jordan needs someone like that in his corner.

An underdog tag team, in the vein of London/Kidman (but not necessarily those two guys) should be the ones to defeat The Dudleys, as it would make for good TV. They build up all the time how the Dudley Boyz are the greatest tag team going today due to their numerous reigns, etc. They're playing the role of Heyman's hitmen now, so have them brutalize two of the cruisers (yeah I know, but bear with me, I'm not going insane) like say...Jamie Noble and Paul London. The two cruisers both want revenge, and seeing the best way to go about it is not alone, they join forces, albeit reluctantly at first. No one takes them seriously (kayfabe wise) because they're "lower" than The Dudleys, and can't even get along themselves. After a few weeks of storyline, Noble and London get their shit together and get one over on The Dudleys for the belts, shocking the world. They continue to team and become a full-on tandem, and you could set them up for a feud with the Moore/Kidman heel team I mentioned above, which would produce some good matchups both tag wise and in singles matches to build the feud.

Getting away from the hire/fire/trade fantasy booking thoughts, Smackdown needs to do a better job of building up who they have, and cannot expect people to get into them right away. The basis of the JBL character is a throwback to Ted DiBiase, one of the most over heels ever. However, it's BRADSHAW. People can be saved by makeovers (re: Jacobs, Glen), but they need to put a little effort into it. Beating Rey Mysterio Jr. and being handed a title shot by the heel GM will not make you a believable, top level villain. The newbies, like Suzuki and Mordecai, need more TV time for people to get familiar with them. Having matches against dead in the water midcarders like Holly or Gunn should not be taking place on a PPV people are paying $35 for. Save that crap for Velocity, or opening segments on Smackdown. The Luther/Haas match I could see working OK under the circumstances (Angle mad at Haas, surprises him with match), but again, isn't that a segment better suited for normal TV? They should have had Haas vs. Dupree or something to that extent, had Haas lose it, then this Thursday Angle could have done the same exact angle with he and Luther. The cruiserweights do need a push. So does the tag division. I understand guys like Mordecai, etc. are gonna need ragdolls to toss around to look imposing, but why do it at the expense of the Noble's, Akio's, or Kidman's? Guys like Spike who are great sellers, or guys like Scotty 2 Hotty who can work either cruiser or heavyweight style are good for that. Let the lightweights shine a little bit (God forbid if we do THAT, though). Tag division wise, those same guys can be an asset there. Akio and Sakoda do NOTHING these days. Shannon Moore and Billy Kidman could be a nice cocky dickhead heel tag team with a little tweaking and maybe one of the women doing nothing of note (Dawn Marie, Sable) behind them. There's a lot that could be done, and while it would take some time, it'd be better than the rush jobs and minimum effort we get now.

I've only scanned the show, but major thanks go to Northstar for finishing the War Games. He had assisted in "fleshing out" the second portion of the match as it built to the finish, which was my department to cover. I got online last night post GAB (yeah, I know...) and finished the match up, putting 45 minutes of work into winding it down and capping it off. Then what happens? The board goes down, and my post (in GCF) with it. Needing to get to bed since I had to be at school (my teacher's assistant job started this week) for 8:30, I saved the file on my comp with plans of putting it on in the morning if I had a chance, or at the latest, at night tonight. Then I come online today and find that he finished the match, thus saving my ass and making you not have to wait any longer for everyone's efforts. So give NS a hand, he deserves it.

As the "leader" of this promotion I hereby dub Eskimo in charge of HD this week. Oh, and PPV fallout from Malibu and the Thrillogy crew.

How do you figure? They hired Luger to stay in Sting's good graces, since Sting was the biggest name they had at that point, and he was holding them up, saying he wouldn't work unless Luger could get some work. His appearing had nothing to do with Elizabeth's death, and they never, EVER mentioned the event on TNA PPV, so how did they "capitalize"?
