  1. I like playing DDR with my hands. So, BeatMania or StepMania ftw.
  2. Antropov is a solid player. The problem is that he gets injured every single year. At this point, he'd probably be a 25-30 goal man if he played 75+ games. When he's in the lineup, he's productive.
  3. So now that the president of Sony has said that a price drop is a possibility, when does it come and how much? If the production costs have really dropped as the rumours say, they should just drop it $200, because I can see a ton of sales if they do that. But back in reality, I wouldn't be surprised if they make a measly $50 pricedrop, or maybe $100 if they've learned their lesson. And not until winter '07 either.
  4. God damn Bronson Arroyo. What the hell is wrong with him? Was last year just a fluke?
  5. Bettman would have to be assassinated before the NHL contracts any teams. Which is sad, because that course of action makes complete sense.
  6. Why didn't they let him buy the Predators instead of that Balsillie idiot who wants to put a team in freaking Hamilton?
  7. People can play regular games in their homes, and not have to pay for three lives, that's probably why the arcades have shifted to the gimmicky stuff. I bet once the gimmicky stuff becomes established in the home (as it has with the Wii, with dancepads, guitar controllers, etc), even those arcades will fall off the face of the Earth.
  8. Absolutely. They've really done a good job of putting most of the blame for the war on him. The whole Vito thing plus the aftermath, refusing Tony's olive branch in after the heart attack, and then starting the war after Tony beat the shit out of a guy who messed with his daughter, which wasn't not an unreasonable thing for Tony to do. And the guy is just a total douchebag.
  9. The Bible is the word of God, according to you. I know that the statement is factually incorrect, and that the bible was written by man, but I tried to be nice about it.
  10. Are you for real? "Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him." Matthew 28:16 "And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you." - Luke 24:33-37 I could post more, but why bother? God is perfect!! That means there shouldn't even one be contradiction or inconsistency.
  11. Ah, the bible is the word of God, a perfect being. That would explain all of the inconsistencies and absurdities. ..Oh wait.
  12. Yes it is, and that's basically a fact. I would suggest doing some research, because I'm certainly not going to explain something so in-depth on an internet forum. And great philosophers believing in god really has no relevance, because that wasn't the point I was trying to make. Besides, they don't believe in your god anyway, so don't bother trying to legitimize your own faith based on theirs.
  13. Oh that's right, I remember hearing that it's after a certain time when the bars open.
  14. Some of those places have open bars, so you can't get in if you're under the legal drinking age. I found out the hard way when I tried going to a GameWorks with some buddies a few years ago, yet couldn't get in thanks to the fucked American drinking age limit. I was 19 at the time, which incidentally is old enough to drink basically anywhere in Canada.
  15. The root of all evil is human nature and free will. Religion just provides a convenient avenue for people to justify evil. But it would be naive to assume that if religion didn't exist, things couldn't possibly be better. You could (incorrectly) say that without religion, there would be no morals, and thus humans would be even more malevolent and violent, but that's ignoring the evolution of human intelligence and wisdom, along with the fact that morals are really based on reason and logic and their effects on society rather than the will of some phantom super-being. Laws and morals evolved on their own, without the help of monotheism, simply due to the evolution of the human mind. Greek antiquity is when human intelligence and wisdom really started to blossom with the great philosophers and scientists. Yet, due to monotheism, the works of these men were basically irrelevant during the middle ages, and sometimes actively punished. Only during the enlightenment did general human wisdom ever really reach that level again, a whole ~2300+ years since the Greek civilization flourished. Ultimately religion is just an idea that was created by humans, an idea that takes a seemingly limitless number of forms, and an idea that is supposed to be infallible and all encompassing. I think any idea is dangerous if people put way too much stock and power into it. The Spanish monarchy thought it was God's will to investigate heresy and burn at the stake those who were found guilty, so they did it, no matter how much logic or reason would seem to dictate that it was a bad idea. And quite frankly, certain religions do deserve some blame for this, because in their core teachings is an attitude that God's will is everything, and that these beliefs are the only true beliefs, and those who don't believe deserve punishment. Compare the atrocities committed in the name of Christianity and Islam compared to those committed in the name of Roman or Greek paganism, or Buddhism, or whatever. Oh, and there is definitely mention of homosexuality in the bible. I don't know why people are saying there isn't. Jesus didn't mention it, but there are other passages where it's made blatantly clear that God, and other disciples, don't condone it.
  16. Soviet Russia under Stalin was a cult of personality, which could be argued as a religion itself. The only thing I'll say about Secular States is that there really haven't been many, so the verdict is still out on them.
  17. The history of Christianity is actually fascinating in that regard, especially concerning the gradual separation between the major sects of Christianity, that being the Roman-Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. There's also stuff like the Spanish Inquisition, which was not in fact a plan to root out non-Christians, but rather was designed to root out Christian heretics who didn't subscribe to the same doctrine as the Roman-Catholic Church. Then you have the Albigensian Crusade, the Reformation, etc. Not that I believe things that happened hundreds of years ago should have any bearing on how we judge modern religion, but it's very interesting nonetheless.
  18. What a stunning and relevant insight. I guess that makes me wrong!!!! Oh absolutely. Some of Christendom seems to be becoming more liberal and less intrusive, with people realizing that spirituality doesn't need to be some overbearing, intensely serious thing. Also, your avatar is outstanding for this sort of discussion. Nah, I was just saying if there isn't at least one party on each side of the spectrum, there wouldn't be much discussion. | v
  19. Because we're discussing it, and if everyone agreed, there'd be no discussion, see? If you don't like it, then stay out. No one here has insinuated that criticising Islam is racist either, so enough with the hyperbole.
  20. Well, they're not one minute. It might be more like 20-25 seconds.
  21. I've been paranoid careful with my 360. Even though I keep it on a carpeted floor, I put a tile underneath is so it's sitting up and letting the vents breathe. There's a nice open space behind the system, and I moved the power supply brick so that it's not close to being directly behind the system. So far I haven't even had any problems to speak of.
  22. Forza does have terrible load times when loading up a race. It really sucks when you finish a race, and want to re-run it, but are forced to go back to the main menu and select the race again, rather than just having a retry option. Even GT4 has better load times, which is kind of sad, because the load times in GT4 were rather annoying too.
  23. I got my Xbox 360 modded, so I can't get an extended warranty. I'm pretty sure there are local technicians who can repair RROD Xbox 360's anyway. There are even some home methods for fixing the heatsink issue.
  24. You're misunderstanding the meaning. The intent of the passage is NOT to say that all nonbelievers deserve to be punished with violence. The meaning is "they will get theirs from God." When God came to Lot, the one remaining believer in Sodom, his message was not "kill as many people as possible," it was "get out of here so I can deal with them justly." And that's what happened. Have you READ the Bible? Just curious. The Mark passage clearly says the punishment for not receiving Jesus will be worse than Sodom and Gomorrha's treatment. The only reason I even posted the S&G passage is so people wouldn't play dumb and pretend to not know what I was trying to infer. You may choose to completely misinterpret the meaning of the objective statements in the bible or brush them off as figurative, fables or what have you, and certainly that is what most Christians do (thankfully). I just find it mind-boggling that the bible needs to be so selectively misconstrued when it is supposedly the word of God, and the entire basis of modern Christian faith. He also says that he supports the old laws and prophets, but I'm probably taking that out of context~! What's one more contradiction on top of everything else anyway? I'm not going to argue anymore over the rampant misinterpretation of the bible. I believe the fact that we're having this discussion more than proves my point about the credibility, or lack thereof, of the bible.
  25. The arcade that I used to go to as a child was originally of moderate size, located in a fairly large mall, but at some point they ended up expanding to an extra large area next door, so it ended up being a pretty good sized arcade. It was well decorated, dark and had tons of games. They had all of the staples of arcade gaming - SF2 variants, MK variants, Virtua Fighter 1 and 2, Virtual On, that game where one person drove and the other used the gun, X-Men arcade, etc. I last went there 18 months ago, and it had been moved to a small corner at one of the minor entrances to the mall, to a small room with plain gray carpet, white walls with nothing on them and a few fluorescent lightbulbs. They had maybe 10 machines, including DDR, Tekken 4, DOA2 (yes, DOA TWO), a couple of unrecognizable beat 'em ups/shooters,a Marvel vs. Street Fighter, and some other stuff that I don't even remember. I went a year later and the place was closed for good. It was quite a fall from grace, and total microcosm of the arcade business. Now, there is/was a Sega City/Playdium near me, which is basically a gigantic arcade that you have to pay to get in. They had lots of cool stuff when I went there back in the 90's, but I'm unsure of how it is now. I'm pretty sure it's still up and running, I should probably go there sometime. It's hard to get the motivation though, because I basically suck at using arcade sticks for fighting games, and fighting games are the main thing I'd like to play there.
