So I went to this indy show here tonight at the request of a friend. My past experience with Indy Shows is sleazy promoters advertising big name stars that don't show up, but I ended up being plesently surprised. We were waiting in line for a bit, until a guy that works with my friend came out and waved for us to come in through the back with him. Just as we were walking towards the back, Christian, Chris Sabin, and Abyss (no mask) pulled up in their car. Sabin and Abyss just kind of went towards the back, but Christian stuck around for a bit and met with us, really nice guy. Christian, Sabin, Abyss, and Jim Duggan were all signing autographs (for a fee of course), and Tommy Dreamer showed up later too, and signed my new ECW book. THe merchandise tables at this show were surprisingly good, they had newer shirts, and I was in heaven with all the tape dealers. I must have speant nearly 100 bucks on tapes tonight, I got some ECW stuff, including Mass Transit, WCW Souled Out 1997 which I've never been able to track down, The Terry Funk / Cactus Jack deathmatch show from Japan, Super J Cup 94, and some tape that was labled "Worst of WCW 2000" which I just couldn't pass up. One guy wanted 5 bucks a tape, which is a steal compared to what most other guys get for their stuff, so I bought most of my stuff from him, but his selection was smaller. The other guy that was there was BBrownVideo, his selection was huge, but his prices were higher, 10 bucks per tape, so I only bought a few from him. The first match on the show was two local guys, Joe Daniels, and some other guy whose name I don't remember. This was very basic stuff, headlocks, irish whips, etc. It was nothing special, but it wasn't too bad. Joe Daniels won the match Second match had some some big guy with his big fat manager get squashed by Jim Duggan. Duggan looked terrible, and if he's really doing this becasue he needs the money, and not because he loves doing it, then I truely feel bad for him. Third match was another 2 local guys. Some blonde Ken Kennedy look alike, aagainst some guy with the word Curry on his tights. Similar to the first match, just a lot of basic stuff. The Blonde guy won. Next up was Justin Credible and Tom Devito vs Ron Zombie, no DQ match. This wasn't very good at all, just a lot of weapons, and Devito ended up getting put through a table by Zombie. Zombie won the match. After Intermission was Xavier vs Jay Lethal. This was a really good match, and made me appreciate the X-Division even more. I understand why TNA features thesse guys a lot, but it also gets kind of redundent after a while. Xavier won. Tommy Dreamer came out next and explained that since he just signed a new WWE contract for ECW, that he was not able to wrestle, so he did ref duty for the next match. Next up was Chris Sabin vs Abyss in a hardcore match. Usual Abyss stuff, he hits all his power moves, while Sabin is reletively unsuccessful with his high flying offense. Abyss ended up attacking Dreamer after he pulled him off Sabin when he was choking him int he corer. Dreamer came back and beat Abyss with the Kendo Stick. Match went No Contest after Abyss walked to the back. Some tag team called Sex and Violins doing a wannabe AMW gimmick came out next. They fought The Heart THrobs. Supposedly from what I hear, The Heart Throbs aren't even booked regularly, they just follow the promotion around and hope for a payday. This match was ok, but nothing special. Heart Throbs had some stripper looking chick with them, who distracted one of the Sex and Violins guys and allowed Heart Throbs to get the pinned. Finally the main event was Christian Cage vs AJ Styles. This was really good, all the major sports were his, including Styles Spinal Tap. Match ended with the Unprettier on Styles allowing Christian to get the pin. Overall this was a great show, it definitely increased my respect for TNA, and Christian and Dreamer were really nice guys as well. I'd definitley go to the next one when they come around.

I'm going to try to hit at least one show, probobly the one is Fallburg, MA. Why do one out in the sticks in Massachusetts? I can't ever really remember ECW running MA on a consistant basis, but they would always draw large crowds here in Connecticut.

I'm sure there must be a study out there that prooves there are some things that certain people are just physically incapable of doing for some reason. Floating is impossible for me, my body just can't do it, I just sink to the bottom. Maybe it has something to do with an imbalance of body weight of some sort? I also cannot snap my fingers, I'm not sure why, and I never really cared to investigate, but it's just not possible.

It's too bad Ken Kennedy was injured prior to King of the Ring. Do you think VInce would have the balls to crown King Ken Kennedy , with the gimmick being that Kennedy is completely oblivious to the faux pas of his intials, and is shocked when Booker T and Bobby Lashley kick his ass.

If he really does have all this dudes info, then why not get the FBI or something to track him down?

The Cranium Crunch was awful, but the all time worst finisher has to be the Discus Punch.

Yeah, Juggernaut is portaryed in the movie as a mutant, probobly becasue it would be too complicated to explain his origin in a film that's already way too convoluted such as this. My overall problem with the film is just that they tried to cram too much into this one 2 hour film. This is really at least 3 different films in one, and it suffers as a result. There's just way too much going on, and there's no room left at all for any emotion or depth. Yeah, it was better then Fantastic Four and the 2 Schumacher Batman films, but that's not saying anything at all. You wanna know what the best part of this film was? The trailer for Snakes on a Plane. It's just so fucking rediculous that it has to be seen. Ghost Rider looks pretty good too.

spoilers Yes, and I did see the film in the wee hours of this morning, and here is my review. This movie was really REALLY bad. The story is totally disjointed, it's completely different from most of the comic storylines, much of the film makes absolutely no sense at all, and it's just flat out a bad movie. Phoenix is not a seperate person in the film, it is explained that Jean Grey has multiple personalities. Thus, at the end of the film, when Wolverine kills Phoenix, Jean Grey dies as well. As the earlier spoilers from last year indicated, both Cyclops and Professor X are killed by Phoenix. There were some mutants in the film that I swear Bret Ratner must have imagined in a dream or something, because as far as I'm aware, they are not mutants anywhere in any of the comics. Some of the mutants later int he film are seen with Guns and Baseball Bats? wtf is that? Angel is barely in the film at all, and serves almost no useful purpose except to save one the inventor of the mutant cure at the end. Anyways, here's the basic storyline: The government discovers a cure for the mutant gene. They make said cure available to the public. Magneto forms an army convincing other mutants that the cure will be used by the government to eliminate all mutants. While the X-Men side feels that while mutants should not be cured, the answer is not to militarize. Meanwhile Cyclops is still having visions of Jean Grey. The visions take him back to the lake where she died in the second film. The visions drive him nuts and make him remove his glasses and shoot his laser int he water, causing all this shit to happen which leads to Phoenix appearing out of the water. Jean Grey appears normal at first, but when she embraces Cyclops, she does not seem to realize the extent of her power and thus kills her. Wolverine and Storm later return to the lake, and disccover Jean Grey unconcious, and bring her back to the school, where Professor X explains that when Jean was a child, he managed to isolate her powers, so she would not be as dangerous. Later on, after a scene with Wolverine, Phoenix escapes the mansion. Meanwhile Magneto is on a mission to rescue Mystique, who had been captured by the government. After resucing Mystique, he also frees Multiple Man and Juggernaut. At the end of this scene, one of the guards manages to grab a gun and shoot Mystique with the Mutant Cure which had been loaded into it, and thus now Mystique is no longer a mutant. Both Professor X and Magneto travel to Jean's house, where they find her sitting in her bedroom. Professor X tries to reason with her, but she becomes becomes angry and unleashes her power, which wreaks all kinds of havoc and ends up killing Xavier. Phoenx then leaves with Magneto and joins his army. This all finally leads up to the big final battle in which Magneto's army storms the facitlity in which the mutant cure is created in order to kill the boy they get it from. The X-Men show up and attempt to stop them, and a big battle ensues. In the end, they stab Magneto with the cure, and put a stop to him, and Wolverine ends up being resistant to Phoenix's power, and at her request, kills her. The final Scene is Magneto in the park, supposedly a normal Human, and he's sitting at a chessboard by himself. He attempts to move the pieces with his powers, and hey, guess what, the mutant cure didn't work after all, big shocker there. Oh, and stick around after the credits, turns out the Professor's not really dead after all! Other subplots include: Rouge being upset that her powers prevent her from being intimate with Iceman, so she decides to go get cured (She does) Iceman's rivaly with Pyro The Beast as representative in the government for Mutant Affairs I will give the film one credit though. The action sequences were well done, they were exciting, they were fast paced, and they were beleivable. Overall though, this film was a big steaming turd. Superman next month is going to kick the ever loving shit out the film. I will say though, as bad as this film was, it was STILL better then Fantastic Four. I give this film a 3/10

The botched spot at the end of the womens match at Wrestlemania is completely edited off the DVD.

Good show overall tonight. Typical WCW-esque show, everything was solid up until the main event. Benoit vs Finlay was fantastic, and I was shocked that they got almost 20 minutes, the rest of the roster should really be taking notes from these guys. I almost went into convulsions laughing at how bad Undertaker vs Khali was, that match is going to be legendary. The ME wasn't bad, but was fairly standard stuff. On that note, was tonight the first time The Undertaker has ever lost 100% Clean? I can't think of a single other match in which he has lost without the use of a weapon, or because of outside interference. Anyone?

So, where is this Vito Cross Dressing angle going to go?

I manage a Regal theater, but we're not one of the ones showing playing this, but strangely enough the home office still makes us advertise for it.

Those lower back tattoos that all the girls have now are tacky as hell, and a really big turn off. When I see a girl with a tatoo like that, it just screams "slut" to me. Oh, and definitly avoid tatoos like this http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2259/tattoos0093yt.jpg

Did you hear about the, uh, black woman, who got an abortion? Crime stoppers sent her a check for 200 dollars.

Who here supports the current administration?
spman replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in Current Events
I still support my party, and still support my President, even if I don't agree with all of his current policies. If the day comes when the Democrats can all come together and develop one, solid, consistnat platform, rather then the 100 people with 100 different agendas and opinions that they seem to be now, then maybe I'll give them a chance. That's the inherent problem with the two party system, it really doesn't even narrow itself down to "Republicans" and "Democrats" anymore, the two parties can are better classified as "Republicans" and "Not Republicans". The Democratic party it seems is comprised of environmentalists, socialists, moderates, big government supporters, hippies, people who want to raise taxes, people who want to spend more money on social issues, etc. etc. etc. Outside of the far right fringe groups like Fred Phelps and the KKK, who don't even consider themselves Republicans in the first place, you don't see any sort of dissention like this on the right. The right can at least come to a concensus on issues like immigration, abortion, foreign policy, fiscal matters, and social reform, while each person who considers themselves to be a Dmeocrat has a different opinion on these issues. -
The Worst Wrestling Show of All-Time

Yeah, you're right, my bad. That Shane vs Angle match is is abotu the only bright spot on the 2001 show too. -
The Worst Wrestling Show of All-Time
spman replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
Top 3 worst for me are Uncensored 96' Two marginally all right mid-card matches topped off by the worst main event in the history of all professional wrestling that has occured or has yet to occur Great American Bash 1991 The show which is mentioned by most as being the worst of all time. I've only ever seen the VHS Release which is edited, but still really really bad. I've heard the original PPV airing is even worse King of the Ring 2000 Even a vastly overrated Angle vs Mcmahon match couldn't save this dog. Largely forgotten due it's lack of any significance whatsoever. The most important part of this show is the early foreshadowing of the political power Triple H would later wield, as he loses the World Title without even getting pinned. This show may not be as overwhelmingly bad as KOTR 1995 or 1997, but this one just sticks out in my head as being really really bad. -
People are already starting to scream "bomb" at this film, since it made "only" 48 million this weekend. Potential factors they're blaming it are people not liking Tom Cruise, and the usual stuff like high prices of tickets, etc. The real answer is much less complicated though. The reason this movie didn't attract audiences was simply put, the weather. Almost the entire nation this weekend had beautiful springtime weather, not too hot and not too cold. People don't go to the movies when the weather is nice out, but they flock there when the weather isn't bad. If it had poured rain this weekend in the bigger markets like the Northeast and California, then they probobly would ahve gotten their 60 million+ opening weekend, but it just didn't happen. This one is gonna stick around for a while though and still end up making a decent amount.

Superman and Da Vinci will do better than MI. Superman Im not so sure, it'll make a lot of money, and has the benefit of of that July 4th weekend, but the majority of the actors are reletive unknowns, and the buzz on the film has been pretty minimal. We'll see. I actually think Da Vinci Code will be the big bust of the summer, the advertising campaign and trailers have been pretty cryptic, and don't really seem to be too appealing to film audiences. I'm not sure whether or not all the controversy sorrounding the film will help or hurt, but I just can't see the average movie fan sitting through this, it seems to appeal more to the older crowd that may not attend the movies as much. I think it'll do well it's first weekend, but then get swallowed up afterwards.

Well, this is it, Friday kicks off the Summer Movie Season, and when the dusts settles, this will probobly end up beign the #2 box office draw behind X-Men. I saw it tonight, and it was pretty good for what it was. It's pretty brainless, and in fact if you attempt to really put any thought or logic into it, you're going to end up with a pretty big migraine. The big action sequences defenitly live up, but I felt the story may have been a little too convoluted for it's own good, by the end I had some difficulty discerning who was good and who was bad. The ending was a pretty big cop out too, but I guess a movie like this can't have any big twists. Phillip Seymour Hoffman did a decent job as the villain, but I just can see a guy like him really playing a credible bad guy. He's just kid of fat and smarmy. Tom Cruise did a great job as well, as crazy as he may be, he may be one of the most consistant actors in Hollywood today, so I give him props for that. Overall, it's definitely worth your money this weekend, but I'm more enthused for X-Men and Superman.

Seriously, with Angle Injured, Orton Suspended, and Batista out, look what twe're left with, a World Champ who wouldn't pass as a Junior Heavyweight anywhere in the world, main eventing a PPV against a guy who prior to Wrestlemania was jobbing to every other guy on the roster in the lower-mid card. We're seriously just something putting out JBL, and an injury to Booker T, away from having Finlay vs Rey as the Main Event of next months PPV (which would kick seven different kinds of ass mind you), but still. Where does the Smackdown Main Event go from here? Is Summerslam going to end up being Batista vs Rey? What if Orton never comes back? Are we gonna have to endure Batista vs Khali? Batista vs Undertaker? Maybe I ought to just give up on American Wrestling.
