    The Future of MNM

I've heard that creative just isn't Shane's cup of tea. Judging from the writing, it isn't Steph's cup of tea either.

    The Future of MNM

Besides angles that Shane was actually in, I haven't heard that he is involved much with the booking and writing of the shows, but I could be wrong on that.

    Smackdown Spoilers

Unless Batista had a reason not to be there, it shows WWE are idiots for not including their champion to help escalate the top feud for the SD brand.

That should also be the desription for Vince, since he has final script approval for what goes on TV and what doesn't.

Comments which don't warrant a thread

Got this bit from the Observer webpage... "The C.M. Punk match taped for Heat on Monday night probably won't be airing because the company wasn't happy with it. We'll know for sure as we should have the Heat report up late tonight." Now, I wasn't there. Perhaps it sucked really bad. However, could it have been as bad as the Heart Throbs and a midget v. Viscera and a midget? Is the company happy with that?

    Lame finisher names

F-5 was pretty lame for a finisher that was pretty cool. I get where it comes from, but they still could've come up with something better.

    LOST

I forgot how that went exactly on Oz. Wasn't it O'Reily's idea to put glass in the mob guy's food and Adebesi was the one who executed it or was it the other way around?

    Two Cruiserweights Return to WWE

Excellent idea, Curry. It's too bad they won't be given more than 5 minutes in the ring to get over.

    The Future of MNM

If you've seen any of their OVW out of the ring work, you'd see WWE is missing the boat on these guys. What you saw last night just scratched the surface of how entertaining they can be. Nitro really pulls off this male-airhead act that is gold. Mercury plays off that well and is the worker of this group in the ring. Melina is awesome in her role as the glue for them. As for Jillian, I just hope to God they have a surgery angle to get that stupid thing off her face once Creative realizes you can't run with that gimmick for more than a few weeks without it becoming very stale.
  10. Gotta go with Russo over inexperienced, Hollywood writers. At least at heart, Russo is a wrestling fan. It's how he got started. The man at least knows the business. Sure, he's responsible for some of the biggest WrestleCrap moments of all time, but he at least knows the business and has experience. To be in the business as long as he was also shows he still had a passion for it, and I believe he still has it.

    Chappelle's Show = finished

When did he convert to Islam? Was it sometime after season 2?
  12. From the Observer website... WWE.com reported that Chris Jericho in fact did sign his contract extension on Monday night in Cleveland, and is staying with the company. Oh well.

Songs you hadn't heard in ages

"The Touch" by Stan Bush from The Transformers soundtrack came up on my ipod recently. I shuffle my music on my pod and since I have about 2,000 songs on that bad boy, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this one.

Who is going to stop watching raw when mnf starts

It just means you get the live feed of Spike TV whereas some cable companies time delay it for whatever time zones people live in. Example would be I also live in California and when I had Comcast, Raw would come on at 9pm. I've switched to Directv and now I get the live Raw feed at 6pm pacific/9pm eastern.
  15. Jericho has no legs as a potential champion. He is there to put over Cena. Nothing more.

Who is going to stop watching raw when mnf starts

Lucky for me, I have Tivo. However, MNF gets watched live and Raw gets watched when I get around to it. (usually later that night or within a day or two)
  17. This came to me while I was on the train ride home from work yesterday. I am a huge fan of New Japan's G-1 Climax and All Japan's Champion Carnival pro wrestling tournaments, especially when it's Round Robin style as opposed to single elimination brackets. I don't have a problem with single elimination brackets, I just favor Round Robin style. Years ago, around 2002 or so, I called into WOL when Jim Cornette was a guest and asked him and Meltz if they felt a Round Robin style tournament could get over in North America, particularly WWE. Both of them said they didn't think it could get over because fans don't want to keep score with the point system and all. The only time I can recall a Round Robin style tournament being done in NA is NWA/WCW Starcade '90(?) I believe. I know it was called Future Shock. They had 2 going on with Luger, Muta, Flair, and Sting as the singles and SST, Steiners, Road Warriors, and another team that fails to come to me right now. I didn't think that night was bad at all. I am of the belief it could get over, if it was done right. Keeping score would be easy as you could have graphics up on the Titan-Tron for live fans and show graphics of the point standings before matches began. After shows end, you could have the point standings up on the website. Announcers would have to be on point as far as putting over the ramifications of wins and losses and what the opponents needs are as the tourney goes farther on. The reason I believe it could get over is keeping score isn't that big a deal. I know a lot of fans are there to be entertained, but keeping score at other sporting events isn't that hard and only the retarded can't keep up or figure it out. If done properly, the Round Robin tourney can provide tons of entertainment as well as be a starting point for new feuds as well as escalate already existing issues amongst people already feuding. It can also be used to elevate people. Of course I'd keep things simple and maybe have a Raw block and a Smackdown block with 4-5 guys a block. Then on a ppv, you could have the winner of each block face off in an interpromotional match with the winner getting a title shot at their respective brand's champion. Think of this as an upgrad to the old King of the Ring, except it would have upper midcarders and ME'ers. (at least I'd like to hope so) I know current creative would probrably screw all of this up, but kind of suspend your disbelief for a minute with this. If the right type of people were to book a Round Robin style tourney in WWE, could it get over?

Could a Round Robin Tournament work

I was actually thinking it should take place right after the May PPV and end by July to hype Summerslam. It'd sort of be like a summer classic that culminates at Summerslam. Rumble leading to WM should be left in tact. This should spice up the summer heading into the fall. Or it could be used in place after Summerslam during the fall to lead into Survivor Series.

Could a Round Robin Tournament work

I'd also throw in a 15 minute time limit too as that has lots of booking possibilities with the points and whatnot.

Could a Round Robin Tournament work

Amazing how we used competition examples as a way to jump start a program for guys and we didn't have to use things like spilling coffee, picking up dog poo, necrophilia, xenophobia, or homophobia to do it.

Could a Round Robin Tournament work

I remember the AWA doing that right before they went under. Seemed like something very original. Wonder, with the team captain thing, could that be used as a lead up or upgrade to the old Survivor Series elimination tags?

    Foods You Hate

Straight tomatoes. I like ketchup and tomato sauce, just not raw tomatoes. Also add in Fish and all seafood.

    Vengeance estimated buyrate

For WWE PPV's, No Way Out and New Year's Revolution were damn bad. On a grade school scale, they were straight up F's. GAB gets a D- only because they had to change booking because of the Hassan ban. Backlash was a low C grade. JD, Vengeance, and Rumble were solid B's and WM was about an A-. ONS is a weird animal for me. For insider fans and fans of ECW, the show is probrably a B or so. On the outside looking in, if you weren't an ECW fan, have the insider knowledge, or like actual in ring wrestling, this show was probrably a D grade. The in ring product was bad and on par with what was presented last night at GAB. The worked shoot promos were fun, but again, that's because I'm inside the box. I could see where it doesn't work for everyone.
