The average Attendance at the RBC centre was 15 596 (83 % capacity), 21st in the league, despite the 'Canes having one of the best teams. It'll be interesting to see what happens to their attendance next year.

I bet the old Whalers fans and the "Hockey belongs in the North only" crowd really loved it when Bettman said Karmanos had a dream that hockey would succeed in Carolina, and that he was right.

NHL Awards ceremony takes place this Thursday, and Hockey Hall of Fame selections will be made on June 28. I don't know if there'll be a separate thread for the awards or not... however, I'll post a big list of leading players eligible for the HHOF in here later on.

He did have a subpar reg. season. Growing pains, maybe. I think it was 2002, when Ward was a WHL rookie, that I first took notice of him, and have kept his name in the back of my mind since then (like, it'd be interesting to see how this guy turns out). The Canes took him in first round that same year.

McKee, Campbell, Numminen, Tallinder, Lydman... and of course, the goalies, Miller and Biron.
