It's the standard life cycle of a product, though. Basic economic stuff, where they are trying to maximize revenue when their popularity is the highest, and when it starts to dip then they do things like decreasing price, running less shows, etc. But there is only a certain window of opportunity to do these things and now is the time to milk the fanbase. Like Lei said, there is enough talent to spread out over the cards, which is great for the overall health of the UFC. More guys fighting, the better they get, the increased odds of finding the next potential champion/draw. In this regard, we don't lose. Where *we* do lose is with ticket prices for shows. I was giving serious thought to going to see Penn/GSP live before I saw what tickets were going for. That's bullshit. -

Kenny is pretty evasive, but all he really does is circle (which, to his credit, is better than most guys` straight-back/hands up evasion techniques, but it is still a predictable technique that can be gameplanned around). He did that against Joe and Joe was able to get him against the fence by bull rushing him much in the same way Diego does to his opponents (only with more pressure, leading with strikes, and more follow-up than Stevenson). He did that against Sherk and he ended up dummying a ring post. No doubt he can potshot Diego, but Kenny doesn`t have the power in his hands to do any damage with those shots and Diego can take a punch. Meaning that when the judges see Diego moving forward and throwing and landing a few big shots vs. Kenny backpedaling and landing smaller punches and kicks in higher frequency, Diego will end up scoring more points on the cards. I freely admit to irrational Kenflo hate. I don`t even hate the guy, really, I just don`t have a ton of confidence in him. He`s had good wins with the ones over Huerta and Stevenson, but those guys aren`t at the level of a Fitch, who Diego was very competitive with. Against the top tier of the division, he simply hasn`t proven himself. As much as Joe Daddy and Huerta have been spotlighted, they weren't top 5 guys. Diego certainly has his flaws, perhaps moreso than Kenflo, most of which centres around an unrefined game. Still, I think aggression is the key to beating Kenny and Diego is one of the most aggressive guys in the game. I also think his takedowns are enough to put Kenny on his back and even if Kenny is able to get back up, all that means is that Diego will take him down again which means points on the scorecards. -

I hate validating Kenny Florian, and beating Diego is just about the only thing that turns me around on him. I just don't see it happening. Kenny has had some good wins, but I still don't think he has proven that his bottom game is good enough to stop an elite level GnP'r. Diego at 155 is a jacked up monster. As good as Kenny is with leg kicks, he doesn't throw them with a Thiago Alves-like frequency, especially against wrestlers. It's too much a risk for him to throw so he won't. Against Stevenson he worked a perfect gameplan and looked tremendous standing, mainly because he was able to work off his reach advantage. Circle and Jab, keep to the outside. He was comfortable standing with Joe because he knew Joe wasn't able to touch him. When Joe did pressure him, Stevenson got him against the fence for the takedown (which would have been a lot worse had Kenny not grabbed the fence). Diego will chase Kenny down, guaranteed. Where Kenny has made vast improvements in his technique and overall strategy/game, Diego hasn't refined his game so much as he added some big time weapons - most notably his left and right hooks, right uppercut, LHK, and lunging knees. It's sorta this RPG-esque comparison between the guy who spent time rounding his game off building up stat points and the dude who has just been buying bombs and firepower (ok, I don't play RPG's, but hopefully the point is made.) So while Diego still goes into retard-mode when fighting, he has added some game enders in his arsenal. Kenny won't feel as comfortable standing with Diego than he did with Joe cause the reach won't be there nor will the fearlessness, so that changes his game altogether. He won't be able to circle forever, and he doesn't have Lyoto-like spider sense in maneuvering around the cage. Diego gets Kenny down and bombs on him. Not for the finish this time, but I think he'll score more points with aggression, damage, and control. -

I loooove Christmas. I like how we all just collectively decide to put up shit on our houses, get each other gifts, be nicer just a lil bit during the season... ok, that last one was a stretch. Christmas music, decoration, movies... love it all.

Watched UFC 59: Reality Check today. Tito/Forrest sorta makes me want to see Tito/Forrest 2 for the belt, even though Ortiz is long from it. 30/27 Ortiz in deeeed. Also, Noble vs. Alves was fucking great. RIP Evan Tanner. I am so happy Fedor dummied Timmah, cause it's a consolation after seeing Tim beat A.A. here. -

UFC 93: Franklin vs. Henderson

I like seeing both Shogun and Coleman fight. Coleman is a novelty purpose, as I enjoyed his earlier days in the UFC and it's just gonna be kinda fucked to see him back in the octagon, especially at 205. And I really want Shogun to return-to-form (or get better), because his peak year was so damn good. I want that killer back. I really, really, like this card. I don't even know where to start with Hendo vs. Rich at 205, so that's bit of a mystery, which is always fun with fighting. Horn/Palhares should be good, tight, fun. Kang vs. Belcher is a great fight and it will be interesting to see what Denis can bring to the MW division. He's not a top fighter, but the dude has gone on some serious runs and if he can get his footing it will make the division interesting... at least, the division below Anderson Silva... And Lytle/Davis may disappoint, cause I think Davis is too smart to get into the type of brawl Lytle wants, but it could also be fireworks. -

Now that he's vice prime minister, he can have a cabinet member dedicated to mustache combing. Can this thread be renamed, "CANADA: HOSTILE TAKEOVER"? This is really quite amazing, I must add. Never knew this was possible. Very board-gamish, if you ask me. A sly move, Layton. I bet you used this move playing RISK as well.

You can TELL, that this was Laytons plan all along. That mustache can't hide everything, Jack!
