So far I am really digging this. For one, it opened with Rachelle Leah in a bra and unzipped jeans which was a pretty good start. Then it showed her at Rich's front door and Rich took us through his wake-up routine. The Xyience product placement is certainly there, but they do a better job of it than TUF.

Franklin originally was a Lightheavyweight, it should be noted.
-
It was just a regular home you'd see in the suburbs. Franklin is probably making well over 6 figures. I read he made $26,000 (13,000 to show, 13,000 to win) for his fight with Quarry, which pretty much everyone thinks is a fucking outrage considering Franklin has been a part of two of the biggest gates in UFC history. Franklin is making more on sponsorship, than anything else. I would assume Dana gives the dude bonus money on the side, cause it's just plain wrong for one of their top stars to be making that little cake. Below is an article from Ivan Trembow linked here http://www.ivansblog.com/2005/12/mixed-mar...aries-fail.html ----------------------------- -While Hughes' lack of a salary increase over the past three years is a bit mind-boggling, the unofficial award for the most grossly underpaid fighter on this show undoubtedly has to go to Rich Franklin. He was only paid $13,000 to fight and an additional $13,000 to win, despite the fact that he was in the main event, and is the UFC Middleweight Champion, and is also just coming off being one of the two coaches on a hit reality TV show. You may wondering how it's possible for Franklin's contract to only be paying him that amount of money when in the past year alone he decimated a huge name in Ken Shamrock on free television with nearly two million people watching, he dominated the Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner to become the champion, and he was one of the two coaches on TUF 2. The reason it's possible is the same reason that it's possible for the TUF winners to be making what they're making: He's locked into a long-term contract. You have to give Zuffa credit: They had the foresight to sign Franklin to a seven-fight contract before the Ken Shamrock fight, Evan Tanner fight, or TUF 2 coaching gig ever happened. Now, Franklin is locked into that contract and cannot seek a more appropriate market value for himself elsewhere. Instead, his multi-fight UFC contract is scheduled to pay him slightly more with each passing fight, but he will still be grossly underpaid for the forseeable future unless the UFC decides to voluntarily give him a new and more equitable contract. While you have to give Zuffa credit for contractually locking Franklin up long-term, you also have to give Franklin credit for being a man of his word. In a situation that was similar in some ways and very different in other ways, Tito Ortiz refused to honor his contract with the UFC just two fights into a six-fight contract, showing that neither his word nor his name on the dotted line really mean anything. Actually, Ortiz was one of the highest-paid UFC fighters even with the contract that he held out to avoid honoring, which is certainly not the case with Franklin. Also, Franklin's contract pays him about one-sixth per fight what Ortiz' contract paid him, and Franklin is still honoring his contract even as he cements his world-class elite status with the first successful UFC Middleweight Title defense in a very long time. I commend Franklin for being a man of his word, but I also hope for his sake that Zuffa voluntarily re-works his contract to pay him more.

This seems to be the only consistent thing the WWE does. They do something EVERYONE knows will fail, it fails, they get rid of it. Isn't not learning from your mistakes fun?

Also, DENIS KANG~! is gonna hit it up. Azeredo/Hansen is going to be dirty. God I hope this doesn't get a month-long delay on PPV.

AMERICAN IDOl-SEASON 5: THE THREAD

Ace should be singing Prince, not Michael, but it makes sense for him to be singing Jacko cause the guy has the raw sex appeal of a lawn mower and though he matches stylistically better with Prince tunes, he couldn't pull it off to the full effect. The falsetto was a bit off-putting, but not horrible as some people are sayin here. However, doing it when Sway did it a few weeks earlier isn't a good idea. This wasn't my favourite Taylor performance, I wouldn't buy this song if he released it, but the energy at the end made it memorable and he keeps revealing a lil more every week to make him interesting. Gideons performance went down pretty much like I expected it to. When Michael fucking Bolton puts more soul and sex into a song, there's somethin wrong. He should get enough votes to go through to the next round, though. Chris was a let down. He sorta slept through it rather than go all out. Way too restrained, but nothing offensive. Let's just say, he didn't really seem "broken", in the same way Gideon didn't seem to be singing that song to get laid. Bucky was, well, Bucky. A good song for Bucky, but I for the life of me can't remember a second of it other than a general impression. Not good for the Buckster. Will and Kevin sucked. God Kevin is awful. Elliott did a better job than Simon said, but Simon was right in saying Elliott wasn't fully behind that song. It's a tough song to sing and I think he did the best he could given his voice. -

Blood is a prop in a match, it heightens drama, and not everyone is allowed to use it. HHH tends to take it all for himself and no one can use it in their matches but him. The dude shouldn't get credit for being willing to blade when the reality is others guys would do it if they were allowed to.
-
HHH is "old school" while Cena is "limited". That has more spin than Cena's title.
-
Franklin won't be fighting any time soon, as UFC.tv reports that he had surgery on his hand and will be out 6-8 months. Hopefully they will be able to build some credible challengers in that time.

AMERICAN IDOl-SEASON 5: THE THREAD

Taken from the Idol forum via DVDVR, here's what the dudes are singin Weds Night: Will Makar - "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor Taylor Hicks - "Taking It To the Streets" by Michael McDonald Gedeon McKinney - "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge Kevin Covais - "Vincent" by Don McClean Chris Daughtry - "Broken" by Seether Ace Young - "Butterfly" by Michael Jackson Elliott Yamin - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams Daughtry knows how to pick his songs and could be one of the best of the night. I am expecting Yamins to be tops, however. I haven't heard the song in question, but Hicks doing a Michael McDonald song is right up his alley. Ace doing Butterfly could be feast or famine. Doesn't really matter as all those guys are going through. Covais and Makar have no hope, as I think Gideon _could_ do a poor job of "When a man loves a woman" because I think he lacks the power and emotion to get behind it (though his Sam Cooke was pretty darn good) to but his voice fits it enough to be suitable for anyone who votes for him and the judges will probably love it if he does it as well as he did Cooke. -
HHH and Cena are pretty much the same in the ring, no? It's the same style and they are both tremendously limited, the only difference is one works face and the other heel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYX_zkDatys...derwood%20alone The only time, that I can remember, when an contestant decided to whip it out. And hell, she does it again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdBSuqPZugQ...a%20battlefield I forgot how good Carrie was. I hope the girls here find the kind of power she had in her voice, cause only Mandisa has been able to really connect and it didn't really do anything for me. Maybe the big stage and the live musicians will inspire them. -
TSM Writers very own StarSmucks Coffee House Discussion Room!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the forum. The only people who do are the ones who don't have an interest in what their problem is with, hence the problem. -
AMERICAN IDOl-SEASON 5: THE THREAD

I think Katharine is "different*" enough (as in televisions idea of different which is a hot brunette with nice titties and fair skin who hates blondes vs. a hot blonde with nice titties and tanned skin, eg: Popular) to steal a lot of the votes Mandisa would get, and Paris and TOCWTJSTLFSR would steal other votes that Mandisa would get. Kellie and Taylor would also steal some votes away from her too, as they take some of the goofy vote and the "different" vote as well. The tree sorta takes all these cuts, eventually it will fall down. This is assuming she doesn't blow everyone out of the water and the judges decided to ride her like they rode Ruben, which is possible. *You can see it in stuff like this: What's been your toughest obstacle in life? Overcoming personal insecurities. Do you think the audition process was fair? No, they let go of some really good people and kept people who were pretty. -
What are the odds Randy and HHH end up having to fight Cena/Rey/Angle?

AMERICAN IDOl-SEASON 5: THE THREAD

Niche Success and Mainstream Success are two different things. Mandisa, who could find success in various genres, but won't be a mainstream success as she isn't nearly "pop" enough and that's going to hurt her when they hit the gimmick rounds. Plus she's going up against Paris and that-other-chick-who-the-judges-seem-to-like-for-some-reason in more ways than one, and I can easily see her being the old girl out when push comes to shove. Frenchie was signed by Simon, wasn't she? I heard she hit broadway too. And that's with controversy pushing her as well, and we haven't really heard much from her otherwise. Ditto that chick who people bitched about getting kicked off in Season 1, I think. The plus-size chick who did "eight world wonder" is pretty much kaput and she was much more photogenic. I don't think we'll hear from Mandisa after she gets the boot. Hell, let's put it this way, if Fantasia and Rubin can't seem to stay very relevant after their initial fame as _winners_ I can't see this one going very far either, esp. considering Fantastia was a superior talent. McPhee, though, has a pretty good shot at taking it. Kellie could make it to top 8, maybe even top 6 given her personality and likability, and she's not half bad a singer either. I don't see Paris and Lisa making it into the top 5 unless they suddenly become more powerful singers and I don't see Mandisa getting in there unless she has a string of unbelievable performances in different genres, and I don't see that happening. It could happen, but I don't think so. -
You are going to have to put a number on "better ratings than people think" to actually have a statement that means anything to anyone. You thinkin a 7? 8? 9? 12?
-
The whole point of the main event is to see how long the two teams coexist with each other until they both finally decide to say "fuck this" and attack each other. They'll play up the brand rivalries, which no one buys, in hopes of trying to convince the viewers that the match might not end in a no contest. However, unless they have Teddy Long outright say "If any of you attack the other, you will be out of the Wrestlemania match", then it won't make any sense to have Rey stand there by Orton on the apron after all the shit Orton said about Eddie.

I could swear we've had a Mandisa performance every year, it's par for the course. It's great, she's a great singer, but is it anything that you'd buy? That you'd even stop and listen to on the radio? Paris being a wrestling fan sucks cause I was all up and ready to hate her. -
Yes. I really want them to bomb.
-
A disappointment comes when you expect something and don't get it. I expect certain things like the entire locker room coming out at the end of the show because there is too many politics between the mania maineventers to have anyone pinned, for HBK to beat Shane-o-mac and the closing shot on that segment having McMahon look all ANGRY, and for the commentary to suck, the writing to suck, the wrestling to be uninteresting, and for nothing exciting to happen. I won't be disappointed.
-
There's too many people at MW for Franklin to move out of the division. Franklin had trouble with RIVERA a year and a few ago, so it's not like the guy is really that far beyond the competition. He had enough trouble with Tanner and Loiseau to keep him in the division.

They were making fun of Madonna, I think. The nerds were. Hottie and Palate were the tip off. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race9...to_album/?id=14

Agreed on the delay thing. And this episode was good, too. Poor Wilson. Poor Chases shoes.
