I don't think so. Locke doesn't seem like the kind of guy to just storm off guns ablazin. I think, if anything, he'll be the one trying to talk sense into everyone. Bah, I just remembered Locke trying to focus everyone on the threat of the others. Damn, I really liked my "Locke helps the others" theory.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I like Pedro Rizzo's free punch on Josh Barnett. -
They really can't do anything beyond Season 7, IMO. It's probably for the best.

Here's a question: Is Locke involved with The Others? I don't mean in a "He's an Other", I mean... He spent a lot of time with Ethan. What if Ethan and him got to talking. What if Ethan told him about Walt, and that's why Locke has taken Walt under his wing. Or maybe Locke told Ethan about Walt, and that's why The Others were interested in him. Maybe Locke told the others that the raft was launching and that Walt was on it. Certainly something to consider.

All I will say regarding the grand scheme is how can you expect answers when you don't know the entire question?
-
Why are there goddamn polar bears on the island? The Dharma Experiment dealt with several things. It's reasonable to believe given the information that they put the animals there. What happened to Jack's fathers body? Dunno. It's possible we'll discover the answer when they get further into the others. Jacks story isn't finished yet. What is the "monster"? Given what Danielle said, it's the security system. If you don't think this will be explained, you're nuts. This is attached to a greater question, though. Why was the psychic so worried about Claire's baby? This could tie in with Walt and what makes Walt special and also why The Others were interested in Claire. I also imagine it ties in with why they're on the island in the first place. If you're expecting an answer for that any time soon, you're probably watching this show for the wrong reasons. Who was Ethan? I thought this was obvious, especially given the last episode. They tailies had The Others acting like survivors. Ethan was acting like a survivor. The others were making lists and abducting people, isn't it reasonable to assume Ethan was doing the same? Do they have to hold your hand on this one? What happened to the pilot? Was it the monster? The security system? That question ties in with the nature of the island itself. You can't expect them to just give the whole thing away so soon. When Locke said he "saw the eye of the island" (maybe it was heart) when he caught the first boar, what was he talking about? Did he see the monster/security system? So far there's 3 questions revolving around the same issue. Why were there corpses in the caves? This, again, deals with the nature of the island. The current survivors aren't the only people to have crashed there. There's a reason for that. How the hell did a pirate ship get so far in-land? Why have they not gone back to it? Given that it hasn't been very long since they went to the Black Rock, and that the Black Rock doesn't really have anything worth going to, this is kinda silly. The pirate ship deals with the same issue as before. People have crashed here before. Why does nobody feel bad about Arzt's death? Because Arzt wasn't part of the clique. Even Arzt new that. Is Locke smart or lucky? How did he know how to make the drug for Boone? I think that one was dumb. Locke is smart, though. But he's also weak, in some ways. Does Roussea have anything to do with anything? Why have they not gone after her? Cause shes used conveniently, duh. And these are just off the top of my head. Few of these will be answered, ever. But yeah, this episode was great - Ana Lucia is so TOUGH. I think the answers you're wanting are related to the over-all grand super question that they won't be answering for a while: Why are they on the Island? This episode was great, if you gave a damn about the characters. The Ana Lucia stuff sucked (cept for revealing she was pregnant), but even then I liked the stuff with Echo and Jack which directly related to her. And Desmond said he was training for a trip around the world.

What questions?

Yeah, nothing's happening at all. (Are you WATCHING the show?)

Which was against the person he's dedicating the match to. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wearing a shirt that says "I'm your Papi".

Just a hippy.

If it's said to Jack, we're talking about the same guy who followed his dad around to the coffin, so it will be interesting to see his reaction. I think the Canadian one was better, just cause it made me go HOLY SHIT, and the American one made me go "We get to find out about Kate".
-
The ABC preview had Kate saying "Do you believe in Ghosts?" while they were showing her looking at the airplane toy. Sawyer said "I love her" kinda sleepishly and Jack said "You mean Kate?" Something happened in the hatch. Sawyer is gone from his bed, there's evidence of a ruckus in the room. Kate cries a lot. "What's goin on?" "I'm sorry" "Are you?" Jack grabs Kates arm.

They can try to reason it as being "dangerous" (which it is), but most sports are dangerous. NASCAR has way more deaths than MMA. Football and Hockey have more serious injuries than MMA. So it doesn't really fly if they're not criticizing other sports. I think the issue is psychological. The cage. The gloves. The fact that there's no padding. People ignore the realities in other sports because the players have padding so "they're not really getting hurt", while MMA just has the tiny 5 ouncers. But since MMA seems more violent, to them, it is more dangerous. -
HOLY SHIT!

That was amazing.

The Serenity movie thread

They shoulda had cast commentary. Actually, they should have loaded it with commentary. Commentary 1: Joss Whedon Commentary 2: Fillion, Tudyk, Staite, Baccarin Commentary 3: Whedon, Fillion, Glau -
It's hard to determine where the WWE rating _should_ be. The average WWE rating is 3.88. But that's not really indicative of what they've actually been getting (the reality). Three (3) 3.6 Three (3) 4.0+ (4.0, 4.4, 4.5) One (1) 3.4 One (1) 3.9 You can look at it like they _should_ be getting over 4.0 because about a third of the time they get above 4.0. Or you can look at it like they should be getting 3.6 because a third of a time they're getting 3.6. The 4.0's have been around extraordinary circumstances, so I don't think that's really what they'd regularly get. I think a range of +/- 0.3 in this day and age around a 3.6 rating is the most realistic. WWEs ratings have been nothing but sporadic, which is why the range is so huge. In a few months, that will probably go down as ratings stabilize.

The Serenity movie thread

Belief/Faith. Inara talks about The Operative being dangerous because he believes in what he's doing so strongly. Book telling Mal the only way he can beat someone like that is to believe in something more strongly. The thing I didn't really buy the first time was Mal so strongly wanting everyone to know the message. But the message was pretty huge, and it got across better the second time. "Are you willing to die for that belief?" "Yes I am". -

The quicker Kurt is out of wrestling, the less dead he will be in the near future. I'd celebrate if the WWE fired him. -

Saw it twice in theatres as well. Just again last week, actually. Just as good as the first time, but I still think the beginning isn't very good and it still does pick up after the Inara talk. The big theme was more understandable to me this time, and it made a lot more sense (not that it didn't make sense before, but the scope of it got across better) and I noticed more lil things the second time around. Jayne holding the Blue Sun bottle/jug for instance. Weird thing this time around, -
Good episode. Pretty uneventful in terms of the drama, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. I like Christopher, but I like Luke more, so until Christopher gets remarried he will be danger and I can't have that. Michel greeting Rory was gold. I love the out-of-character moments from him, cause you know he wanted Rory back as much as anyone else did. The stuff with Paris was more formality than anything, but it would have been nice to get a classic Paris moment since everything else was toned down. The stuff with the notes was good. Kirk does Tai Chi. This show is amazing in how it parallels things. Luke with Christopher, in this case. And the characters usually come out better for it, understanding what the other went through and junk. Rory and Lorelai swapping Horror stories was great.

I thought "And there is no such "industry-wide directive" to be on steroids." was the height of the dumbfuckery.
