The Styles Clash is a rather sissy move especially after they do about a dozen other better looking moves before it. I love the pounce, though. They need to have 3 guys lined up and Monty pounces one and they all fly back like a bunch of dominoes.

Horrendous booking doesn't mean you just quit. If that horrendous booking means that you're value or "stock" will take a hit, for self-preservation purposes, you'd be stupid not to "quit". Especially in Steves position where he knows the WWE will come calling back in a few months anyways lookin for a favour. Austin obviously knows his worth and is not willing to sacrifice himself in the ring for someone who won't benefit from it as much as that loss should be benefitted from. He did the same thing with Brock Lesnar. They booked him to lose in a KOTR Qualifier. Austin losing a Qualifier? No way. I think Austin would have put over Brock, I just think that he would have done so on a bigger stage. The case here, in my view, isn't Austin being willing or unwilling to put someone over, it's about Austin putting over the right guy and the right time and getting the most out of losing. Austin knows the game, and guess what? Ric Flair did it the other way, Ric pissed all overhimself and didn't care who he lost to and Ric Flair can't draw a fraction of what Austin and Hogan can draw today.

I caught about 3 minutes of the end, and some how I have something to say. Tenay and West need personalities. They're pretty much the same "voice" in there. I think some character quirks are in order to help differentiate. I mean, I know Don West is over-enthusiastic guy, and I know Tenay is Mr. Knowledge, but when I hear West bring in some insight or hear Tenay freak out, I don't really see those two things as distinct character traits. You wouldn't hear Gorilla Monsoon make excuses for heels like Heenan did, and you wouldn't hear Heenan say "oh will you stop!" back at em. I'm not really looking for Don West to be Horny Old Man Jerry Lawler, but when Gail Kim was leaning over the apron like that, I'm like "TITTIES!" and he's like "Gail Kim is looking on!", which is exactly what Tenay would have said. There needs to be some differentiation there. My suggestion - The Gold Necklace and buttoned down shirt. There is something there, I just don't know what yet. The stroke is an awful move. Like, jesus christ. Is the death sentence supposed to look really homoerotic? Isn't there a better way? It better not have been AMW that beat down the Dudleys, cause Tenay going off the air pointing out the obvious was kinda lame. "IT HAD TO BE AMW!" Well fucking DUH. The way Tenay laid it out, it seemed like a copycat-able offense (beer bottle, laying in their own blood). Was it ever said or implied on the show that there could have been anyone else behind the attack? If not, I don't think that is a good idea to just have someone out of the blue attack them. There should have been a hint before hand. It helps tie things together. So they're having ANOTHER PPV? So it was like Impact, Thursday show, Impact, PPV?? They seriously need to address this, cause things are moving way too fast. There is no rule that says they need to have a PPV every month.

Because the people who paid to see Austin beat up Coach would have LOVED to see Coach beat Austin.

Lorelai: Yeah, the town's too dull to work up a real murder. Rory: But you're one 'Beam me up, Scotty' reference away from being the victim of one. "The Inns and Outs of Inns" Season 2, episode 8 They need to bring Mia back.

Sylvan Grenier looks like, and reminds me of, Jean Claude Van Damme. Not the 1980's action star JCVD, but the late 90's, 00's, coked up, slicked back, Van Damme.

My Gut Feeling On Vince And His Booking

Shane is involved with _the business_ of wrestling, like Linda is. I believe I read that Shane went to the SPIKETV meetings with Linda when they were negotiating for a new tv deal, and while Vince is grooming Steph to take over the creative side (what a great move that was Vince!), Linda is seemingly doing the same with Shane. It's a far more important factor in the WWE's success than anything they do in-ring. WWE has never been the place that had the best storylines or the best wrestling, but because their business model or "infrastructure" and their marketing, they were doing things the competition wasn't doing in the 80's and that's what put them over the top. As VP of Global Media, Shane is very much entrenched in WWE business. He has far more responsibilities than Steph does which have great implications on the business. Steph fucks up (and has been fucking up for almost 5 years now), the blow isn't that major. Shane fucks up, and the implications to the business of the WWE are probably more disasterous. -

The reason Vince is where he is right now is *because* of WCW. If WCW hadn't run the very successful NWO angle in 1996, there wouldn't have been the fans there to see Austin in 1998. If WCW hadn't been there for Bret Hart to go to, then Vince wouldn't have had anyone to screw, which had a direct implication on ratings and interest in the WWE back when there really wasn't any. Of course, people can say that WCW wouldn't have gotten to where they were at if it weren't for WWE creations in Hulk Hogan, Nash and Hall. Well, Hogans impact on WCW initially wasn't very big. It took him turning against everything WWE had built him to be to push the company ahead. The intrigue of Hall and Nash as the Outsiders certainly couldn't have been there if there wasn't an outside company to draw from, so certainly both companies benefitted from each others' presence. I think WWE benefitted more, though. There wouldn't have been Hulkamania if it weren't for the AWA, afterall. -

You know it. The WWE is scrambling for new opportunties for making money because they know their live events aren't doing so well. You think they're developing their website, DVDs, on-demand services, and 24/7 because they want to give the fans a nice lil present? Those are some of the smarter things they are doing, but they are probably doing them a little too late (they should have been doing this stuff back in 1999 and 2000, when they had the maximum amount of fans to suck money from - of course, back then it was taboo to recognize the past, let alone play to the internet). Then you have the whacky shit like WWE Films which goes way outside their core competencies (as if writing and acting were a strength of the WWE), and puts up a lot of money that might not (mostly likely not) get the returns they are looking for. The cash on hand thing is a pretty big deal, because it's essentially saying "The future isn't so bright, so we're saving this for the rainy days ahead." That just GREAT news for shareholders. -

Shane doesn't want anything to do with the business? Shane is more in the business than Steph is. -

You're kidding, right? Ignoring the changes in the Television landscape and what TV viewers prefer now as to back in 1998, the wrestling business has gone from 2 strong companies and 1 with a cult following, to just 1 company. How one acts in a monopoly is much different than how one acts with competition. Vince doesn't know how to act against no competition, and a lot of what made him successful in the last 20 years was based on having competition (stealing ideas, stealing talent, positioning the WWE against other companies). Vince is like a soldier coming back from a war. He's like RAMBO. He can't get passed the past. -

HTQ's Survey: If You Were A Wrestler...

Vince doesn't know how to run his company in and for todays world. He is still running it like it was 1998 and is clinging to his old ideals. He is way behind the times, and this is not something new for him. The guy couldn't be less open-minded. The guy isn't a genius, he just operated better than the other dumbfucks owners in wrestling, had guys who could spot the right talent and knew more about wrestling than he did, and got lucky. Plus, he has the advantage of having and attracting some of the dumbest fans in the world. Now, here's the problem. There are no other dumbfuck owners around so he's the benchmark for the shit and he can't steal any talent from anyone, he doesn't listen to the guys who can spot the right talent or give him the right advice, and he's seeing his luck as something to fight against cause he's so stubborn. And those dumb fans are slowly starting to wise up and stop watching. The International well is going to start to dry, there is only going to be so many corners to cut, and if they don't find any new revenue generating ventures to rely on, they're going to be fucked. -
Spike TV pressing for more WAR on Monday Night
RavishingRickRudo replied to a topic in TNA Wrestling
Why? What would you be missing on RAW that you couldn't find watching... I can't think of anything clever... oh well... that you couldn't find watching a bunch of shitty actors perform shitty material on a shitty show that makes no sense and even worse makes you feel dumb and ashamed for watching it. ? -
They should, like, put that in the prelim and if it really sucks just show it in highlight form, but if it's good, act like it's live and put it on in full. I'd rather be burned by missing a shitty full fight than having to watch a shitty full fight.
