Daniels Three Man Ironman Match Next Week..
RavishingRickRudo replied to natey2k4's topic in TNA Wrestling
1. It gets heat on Daniels for not taking the challenge and living up to his word 2. It makes Daniels look a bit like a chickenshit heel, but him beating the first two guys should balance things out 3. It sets up a Daniels/Joe match in the future and puts Joe into the X Division feud 4. It makes AJ Styles look good for out-witting Daniels 5. It makes Joe look like a badass 6. It sets up a Impact debut for Joe next week, and if he does a good job beating up wrestler x, it should get people interested in seeing that match -
While using former WWE midcarders as a "bigger act" (so to speak) in TNA makes them look bush-league, when it comes to the tag division I think it's a different story. The WWE currently doesn't have one. The most notable names in the tag division over the past 5 years has been Edge and Christian, the Hardy Boyz, the New Age Outlaws, and the Dudley Boyz. No other team really comes to my mind than those 4. So when one promotion has 2 of those teams, while the other promotion has none, there is something to build from. I wouldn't build my future on those two teams, but as a starting-block, it's at the very least a place to start from. In a battle for the tag division between TNA and the WWE, where TNA has NAO and the Duds while WWE has MnM and LOD, I'd say TNA has the advantage. And TNA needs all the advantages they can get. TNA has the better cruiserweight division. TNA has the better tag division. TNA could easily have the better womens division. Do these things matter when the WWE has the better heavyweight division? No, in the grand scheme of things they don't. But it doesn't hurt.

Did the New Age Outlaws ever face the Dudleys in the WWE?

Daniels Three Man Ironman Match Next Week..
RavishingRickRudo replied to natey2k4's topic in TNA Wrestling
They should have Joe as the last guy, and then have Daniels say "fuck this" and leave. Later-on, Daniels can say that he could take Joe, but he'd have to be 100% and at the time he wasn't. That he wasn't going to let AJ Styles have the advantage, so he just left. Have Joe stay in the ring for the next match, have him say that he "came for a fight" and that he "won't leave until he gets one". So he beats up wrestler x who was in there to face wrestler y. Have wrestler y take issue with Joe cause Joe just stole his match on TV and set that match up for next week. -
The Serenity movie thread
RavishingRickRudo replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in Television & Film
Please... no more... it hurts... (I will say that the movie is doing well beyond my initial expectations. However, after hearing how much Universal pumped into it and the ads surrounding it, my expectations became much higher.) -
Jim Ross possibly leaving RAW announce team
RavishingRickRudo replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Meltzer said that recent word is that Goldberg turned it down. Given how much I didn't like the new guy announcing for the UFC Friday Night and how much this fucks over the WWE, I really hope this is true. -

Strange, that's what I do too.

I don't know why they don't pick a babyface and do a sit-down interview with him based around the simple question of "Why do you wrestle?". There are so many answers that could be given that can then shape the character of the wrestler. It's much better than taking a look at the guys last name and then thinking "Hey, we can do something with that!".
-
But it didn't look like that. And appearance in MMA is just as important as reality... if not more. A few more fights against simple guys and you build yourself a contender.

Dana White explaining the Gannon situation was gold. The sleaze was laid on thick. Gannon did his job tonight, he got his ass kicked and BLH is on the radar in the UFC HW division. Nothin wrong with that, in my eyes. Hummer I didn't like. And I actually didn't didn't like Damon Perry. So that's saying something. The guy couldn't be more of a puppet. Lytle/Riggs was some fab GnP on the part of Diesel. He's been watching his Fedor tapes. Babalu looked very impressive against Sonnen, and Sonnen didn't look to bad himself suffering through that heel hook. It reminded me of Austin/Hart in some ways, in terms of the visual. But droppin Shoguns name like that? Bogus. Man, I wished Griffin/Sinosic went longer as it was DAMN good for how long it lasted. Elvis getting the better of Forrest standing, and Forrest having to go all out for the finish or else he would lose the fight was great storytelling. I liked Forrests post fight promo about fighting the best striker in the UFC... who would that be.... ??? BLH vs. Gannon had some sick GnP in it and the blood gushing out of Gannons face was a disturbing image. Feed some more guys to GLH and you could have a player in the heavyweight division. Arlovski/Buentello? It took me longer to, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, write this sentence. The italian guy looked very impressive in there both standing and on the ground - it would be interesting to see him against Forrest. His soccer-sell of the kick to the boys was classic. Dvon Dudley has NOTHING on him. Rivera should have unloaded on Hallman, as the target was there. Still, I loved the continuous body shots.

When McDonalds starts to pick up on a trend/style, that style is officially dead.

Jim Ross possibly leaving RAW announce team
RavishingRickRudo replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Goldberg directs the flow of traffic, so to speak, so he is the main guy. He calls moves, shills, but rarely provides insight or anything technical. That job is up to Joe Rogan (being fed lines by Eddie Bravo, I assume), who actually does a good job -imo- in that role. Though, Goldberg did offer up one of the more memorable lines in MMA history with "Ruttens taken over, Ruttens taken over!". Goldberg and Rogan are my favourite announce team goin right now, and are far superior to Ross and King, or Tazz and Cole. I think Goldberg is better than JR, but being unfamiliar (to the fans) is going to really hurt him because he comes off as a "regular announcer" - with the voice, the fake smile and enthusiasm. -

Shamrock and Blatnick and Tazz. Blatnick and Tazz get into it every time someone does a suplex. "A nice suplay by Kurt Angle there" "You mean suplex, Jeff" "No Tazz, I mean suplay. That's the proper way to say it." "Oh no brutha, I think you mean suplex. All these years, I aint been doin Tazzplays..." "Well maybe you have" Frank: "Will you two cut it out." Both: "Yessir". -

To be fair to Goldbreg, there are -at least- a million gracies involved in MMA. Granted, Carlson Gracie is one of the bigger ones, but he could have easily said "Renzo Gracie". http://bjj.org/tournaments/ufc32-20010629/...ers_995x644.jpg Here's a pic of Goldberg, for those who haven't seen him (middle). -
Knees are more common in PRIDE, with Chute Boxe doing particularly well with them. (Wanderlei Silva kneeing Quinton Jackson 17 times comes to mind)

Jim Ross possibly leaving RAW announce team
RavishingRickRudo replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
There isn't a single person qualified for the Raw announce team. There are much less great announcers for wrestler as there are great wrestlers. It is a rarety to find the right combination for the job, and even if there are people who are able to find that combination, that doesn't necessarily mean they will gravitate towards professional wrestling, since there are better options available. Understand this and move from there and try to find the "least sucky". -

He ditched an Sunday night, 11pm wrestling radio show for a weekly mid-day gig which was one of the stations big shows. Plus, UFC runs 6-8 shows a year, so it's not exactly a time-consuming position that would take him away from radio. ... I just miss Marek. -

You know who I would have to replace Goldberg? Jeff Marek. The guy knows his MMA, he has tons of radio experience, and if he can have chemistry with Dan Lovranski, he can have chemistry with anyone (preferably Randy Couture ) -

Could Quardos and Rogan get along? I am surprised by this, which should be obvious given my initial sentiments (which seems to be based on MMA misinformation, not exactly a new thing ). I hated Goldberg at first, but sometime around UFC 40 he got good and I became Pro-Rogan. The guy is very good at what he does. He is able to keep the flow, he is able to shill, he can defer to experts (which would be needed for him), he can bring excitement and emotion to a match (but I don't think his style would mesh well with the WWE) and his voice -while standard announcer fare- isn't annoying like so many of the alternatives. I don't thing Goldberg would work well with King, though. With Tazz?? That's another story. -
My people and Dangerous A's people have been in talks, I can't promise anything, but... you may be hear RRR or something like RRR on the Danger Zone sometime soon. Really, if the talks break down, its DA's fault. Blame him. Dames needs to be a permanent fixture on the show. He is sooo the Bryan Alvarez to your Dave Meltzer.
