For those going to One Night Stand in Manhattan

And BTW, TONY MAMALUKE did a better job with applying submissions and mat wrestling than Kurt Angle.

For those going to One Night Stand in Manhattan

It was really shitty amateur wrestling too. Kurt can't wrestle that style for shit, which is funny -not because he was an olympic gold medalist- but becuase he's been wrestling that style off and on for 7 years and hasn't improved a lick.

You don't have to wait and see. It was pretty obvious the direction they are going with this ECW. And it's an awful direction. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fucking fool.

ECW One Night Stand 2 Thread

This show sucked. Fuck relaunching the brand, there are other ways to do that than make RVD look like shit for needing Edges help to finish Cena and then to have Paul fucking Heyman make the pin count. It totally screamed out "this won't last", so why does it even matter if RVD won tonight since it was clearly a disputable finish. I don't even like RVD, but this was not the way to relaunch a brands champion. Ballz/Tanaka put me over the hedge for buying this show, and they gave it less than five fucking minutes and it ended in a single fucking chairshot. Totally ruined the show for me. And then... They couldn't even have Sandman come out to the right fucking music. This is going to be a disaster. They actually thought he could come out and do his schtick without the music - there wasn't a fraction of the heat the dude had last year tonight. If they thought that was a good idea, its guaranteed this WWE venture will suck. Hope is gone. And Kurt Angle is the worst worked shooter I have ever seen. John fucking Tenta was better than Kurt Angle.

    Hulk Hogan Interview

People were saying Hogan tried to sabotage Warrior before Hogan said, and I'd be more likely to believe Hogan is just going along with it to make himself look smart for seeing Warrior would be a failure, rather than looking like a dumbass for putting a failure over in the first place. Why would Hogan do so much in the match to put Warrior over just to try and bury him in the end? Why did Hogan let Warrior press him? Kick out of the Leg Drop? Doesn't seem like something a guy would do if he was looking to sabotage someone, no?

Great Interview With Paul Heyman About ECW

TNA has lots of problems, I'd say their wrestlers bitching about the WWE is one of the lesser ones to worry about, and really is just a product of a bigger problem (maybe they should just stop hiring WWE rejects?).

How do you define "taking all the spotlight for yourself"? Did Hogan push Warrior out of the ring or something? If you showed Meltzer a video of Hogan saving a baby from a burning building, the first thing he'd claim is that Hogan started the fire.

Comments which don't warrant a thread

The WWE needs less production (in regards to camera's, video screens, entrances, graphics, etc.) In the late 90s, part of the WWEs appeal was their production, but now I think it is really holding them back because they over-produce, and more importantly -since they don't have a big company to compete with (and therefore look better than)- they are essentially competing, production wise, with bigger sporting events and rock concerts, which currently smoke the WWE. So either they should invest in bigger and better video screens and more sophisticated technology, or they scale down so they don't look like they are failing. And Kevin Dunn needs to go. I was an advocate of Dunn for a while, because he was a big reason for the WWEs success, but he's doing nothing but holding them back. He's not as big of a problem as Steph is, imo, but he's still a problem.

    Hulk Hogan Interview

If I shoot at someone and miss, does it still mean I shot them? Plus, there have been several stories going around WM 6, put forth by Hogan himself, including him putting over Warrior at Mania because he was planning on retirement. With Hogan you can never tell, but it seems to me like he's bullshitting and trying to take credit for Warriors failure and falling in line with the WWE's history. Hogan didn't want to make his put over seem like the wrong move, so he changed up the story a bit. No doubt Hogan was trying to protect himself in defeat by handing Warrior the title rather than just hiding away like a loser as Meltzer would want, but that's different from trying to bury and sabotage Warrior. Hogan did so much to put Warrior over in that match I find it hard to believe that his one gesture of class was enough to bury him from the start. Nevermind Warrior became _more_ over because of his win and was made The Man because of it, oh no, it's That Evil Hogan doing the dastardly deed of looking sad and being a good loser and sportsman... what a bastard that guy is.

    Hulk Hogan Interview

Who says him quietly leaving the ring is the only way to put over Warrior? Hey, let's forget all the shit Hogan did to put Warrior over in the match and let's just focus on him handing Warrior the belt and *gasp* looking dismayed over losing the title. But it's not like Meltzer would ever skew anything negatively against Hogan.

    Hulk Hogan Interview

Have you actually SEEN the match? At the end of the night Warrior was The Man. That was clearly established. He was put over. Warrior closed the show, he won the match, he got the title. Hogan didn't club Warrior after the match, or have his foot under the rope, or claim he didn't lose, or have Warrior cheat to win. None of those things happened. It was a perfectly fine put over that has only been trumped up as sabotage well after the fact.

ECW One Night Stand 2 Thread

I don't see how it effects TNA other than signing away former ECW talent that TNA uses, which is only a temp. effect anyways (once WWE starts to incorporate their developmental guys, there will be little need for previously established talent). The main thing, in regards to competition, is that ECW is on Tuesdays, TNA is on Thursdays. So there is no conflict there. People that watch TNA because "it's not the WWE" won't really watch ECW too much because, well, it's still the WWE. In regards to the other people who watch TNA for whatever reasons, those reasons will still be there when ECW starts to run. TUF 3 winding down has more of an effect on TNA than ECW does.

If you want to say Hogans post WM 6 feud with Earthquake overshadowned Warriors title match with Rude, fine, go right ahead. But Hogan didnt do anything wrong at WM 6. He put Warrior over. He had Warrior press him over his head and drop him. He had Warrior kick out of the big leg drop. He lost to Warrior clean with no shenanigans. He admitted defeat and gave Warrior the belt and said "Hes the man".

Was ECW music as important to you...

Dammit! I was so going to make fun of Pauls overuse of "Bodies.." in just about everything he does. "The kids are all about the limp bizkit these days". I like Paul E for the most part, but the dude has to come back to reality and realize he is a 40 year old jew who rocks a skullet, which means maybe his eye for cultural trends needs a monocle (which I hear is huge among the vampire-mr peanut crowd that has been taking over NYC for the past few years (and yes, instead of blood, they do drink melted Skippy (which is far more disgusting))).

    Kayfabe

Depends on the context. The Edge interview was kayfabed insofar as to put heat on Edge with him "shooting" on the fans, which is within the range of the "rated R superstar" character. I don't think him saying this on live television would fly, because the majority of the audience would be like "wtf does psychology have to do with rasslin?", but since this was an online quote directed at online fans (in particular hardcore ecw fans), where kayfabe is more openly broken, it is not an unusual quote to make, nor do I think it is one that hurts the illusion. Like I said, it's Edge trying to get heat on himself by insulting "smart fans", the comments were directed at those fans, so using the terminology those fans use is just a way of making it more real. In regards to Kayfabe in modern day wrestling, it should be held on to more. That's the wrestlers' control over the fans, and most wrestlers nowadays have little command over them because they act all goofy and shit on myspace and then expect people to take them seriously in the ring.

    Hulk Hogan Interview

Who said wrestlers shouldn't look sad? What Hogan did wasn't to get over feeling sad for losing, but to get sympathy and get the attention back to where he always wants it; on him. Oh, I see. What exactly is the right way to sell feeling sad? Is there one particular way, or are there many ways? Clearly Hogan didn't do it right, he was able to get across being sad, but he really should have gotten across feeling sad but in a way where people can't have sympathy for him. So maybe he could have been sad but then killed a kitten or something. Jesus Christ, got any more gems?

Great Interview With Paul Heyman About ECW

Finally, a promotion that has their ear to the motherfucking ground. The vampire market was RIGHT THERE and it was continually ignored for years. I can't tell you how many of the cool kids I see walk home from school with their capes and amulets who curse modern wrestling for not tapping into something that is so hot right now. And don't get me started on the furries, I can't see those hipsters faces but I can imagine they wear nothing but a constant frown because they are not properly being represented in professional wrestling.

Yeah, cause what Hogan really shoulda have done was tap danced out of there because wrestlers shouldn't look sad when they lose.
