Carlos Newton GSP has slick submissions, vicious ground and pound, knock out power in stand up as well as a diverse moveset - what more can you ask for? Newton has had great matches against Sakuraba, Henderson, Pele, and Hughes. Sure, he lost 4 of those 5 fights, but damn were they exciting.

It wasn't Inoki, though Inoki pushed that concept for decades. I guess Sakuraba was a pretty good amateur wrestler, trained in the Takada Dojo and learned catch style wrestling with Billy Robinson and had the perfect style to defeat traditional BJJ fighters.
