2.0 without the Raw lead in. AWESOME. It was a good episode too, let's hope they retain the audience and get to build on it.

Someone explain why Cena was getting female cheers followed by male boos. Michaels' most over period was when he came back in 2002, where he was very much not Sexyboy Shawn Michaels. There is a reason why he was for most of his singles WWE career a heel, and it's not because he was a glorified cruiserweight. HBK disproves nothing in regards to Cena.

Tito/Belfort went on last when Arlovski/Sylvia I happened, there is no reason for that not to happen again. BTW: 9:00 - All Access w/ Arlovski 9:30 - Reality Check Preview show. SPIKE~!

Explain what Shawn Michaels has to do with anything I said and I'll answer that question.

I don't see how Michaels kills the argument. His most successful face period came in post-retirement/2002-on where he was very much an old man. During his singles career before that, he was face for, what, under 2 years? And he was never as loved as much as he was hated in that time, and the fans eventually rejected him as well, most notably cheering Sid over him.

Let's see if I can get a timeline on this to help explain what happened: Cena under his rap gimmick began as a heel. He didn't get a lot of heat, he had a relatively unsuccessful feud and push with Lesnar after WM 19. However, gradually, fans took to him due to various fan-grabbing schticks (hand gestures, fan participation, catch phrases), which Cena wisely used and continually invented and marketed. Cena got over a great deal with most fans and was seen as being cool and was made US champ and then world champ. As world champ he stopped being creative and inventive and became complacent and stale to a good many of those fans, who liked him initially for being something relatively fresh. Christian pointing out various things like Cena being Vanilla Ice helped speed up the process. Also, inherent in the general nature of popularity is the decline in popularity and a reaction against it (however, usually, the reaction is in the vast minority) Due to staleness and the nature of popularity over time, fan interest in Cena began to wane - they didn't hate Cena, as there weren't boos, the fans just didn't cheer him as much as before. However, not all fans stopped cheering him: Kids still liked Cena and so did females. So, because the male fans stopped cheering wildly for Cena, the females and Kids - a minority at wrestling shows - became more audible. As evidenced by the higher pitched screams and cheers when he came out. This is where the apathy for Cena from those male fans turned to distain. Where the male fans began to actively boo Cena and cheer his opponents. Cena would initially get a superstar pop reaction coming out, which turned into just chicks and kids cheering, which turned to men booing. Since feuds during this time were against Jericho and Angle, it wasn't hard for a certain group of fans to cheer them over Cena. Eventually, the reaction to the women and kids cheering mutated into a preemptive action, where fans would choose to boo Cena when he came out. This grew into what we have now where it is en vogue to boo him, where people have fun booing him.

Let's be fair, 4 guys standing out in one episode is pretty damn good, when they also are getting over Tito and Ken and their rivalry. It would be TNA-like to try and get every one of the 16 guys over, which is to say, damn need impossible to do successfully. The objective wasn't to make everyone immediately recognizable and a star in the first show, which is a good thing. It was to get over the Tito/Ken rivalry, get over the two as individual and different coaches, to get over Dana, to get across the rules, to put on a fight and get over the two guys fighting, and to put the spotlight on a few guys. Go back to season one and Bonnar, Forrest, and Diego weren't exactly stars after the first episode.

The powers of Joe Dirt, Deuce Bigalow, and Napoleon Dynamite cannot be denied. No matter how hard you try.
-
Here's the thing: with Cena, it was him getting cheers at first - which were from women and children - then boos second, which were from men. How do you explain that other than the guys were reacting to the women cheering? Now, you can explain why the womens cheers were so loud and the mens weren't at first because the guys didn't cheer him because they didn't care about his character because it was bland and stale, but that doesn't explain those boos.
-
If people find a wrestler bland and boring, they don't actively boo him, they just don't cheer him. Bland and boring create apathy, not venom. Annoying teenage girls cheering a guy, that creates venom.
-
Ah, so that's why the post seemed like a broken record.
-
In my view, with Cena, a lot of it can be explained by the fact that older guys don't like the same thing as teenage girls. Now, what made Cena appeal to that type of fan can be "blamed" for them cheering him, but what makes the backlash is those fans themselves. The people who are booing Cena aren't booing him because his promos are too whitebread or because his act has gotten stale - they boo him because it's not cool to cheer him, because if you cheer him, then you are just like a teenage girl. Austin and Hogan didn't get this kind of a reaction (but Rock and Orton did) because I don't think you had 14 year old girls screaming out "GO SEXY!" with those two.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Ok, Forrest's "Road to Tito" is awesome. Must-see stuff in this weeks 4th installment where Forrest takes us around his place (which he shares with other fighters) and we find Alex Shoenhauer sleeping with a gun and some bullets next to his bed. Alex takes Forrest out to the desert and a bunch of whackiness ensues. If you ever wanted a POV shot of Forrest taking a wizz, then this is your lucky day my sick friend. -

Reshad is not a killer. -
They need less of Singh wrestling, and more of him ripping turnbuckle pads off. That was, like, the spot of the year. Tremendous.

Or a Rocky bad guy.

The undercard will probably be on Unleashed within the next month or so. -
Where was Katies ass? Anyways, I loved this. Every second of it was tremendous. The movie knew its strength - Eckhart kicking ass and interacting with the MOD squad - and played it up. The stuff with the wife and Katie was done at a minimum. His decline lasted maybe 5 mintues and he was back on his feet. Everything, really, was done to facilitate his spin, which is what the movie was all about. The conversation about Vanilla and Chocolate was one of my faves. A million bazillion stars.

Oh yeah. Absolutely hilarious stuff. Beefs desire to wrestle a bear is great. "That's good because I am afraid of both cages and of death"

Reshad didn't even try to pass guard, he barely threw a single punch in Sams guard. That's not Sam having a good guard, that's Reshad being a fucking pussy. He was pancaking him the whole time not working towards anything. And it's not like Sam was having an active guard that would give Reshad concern, Reshad either didn't know what to do on the ground, or was too much of a pussy to do anything, or both. I didn't hate Reshad before this fight, I can't stand the fucker now. -
I think Tito realized that being nice to the deaf guy is going to make him look good and win him some fans. Cause who isn't cheering for him?

Stop saying Shelton Benjamin is nothing more then a Spot Wrestler...

Amateur Wrestling and Mat Wrestling in Professional Wrestling are two different things. Worked mat wrestling is when you feed your opponent moves and relies a lot on reaction (fighting against the hold while actually not fighting against the hold - making it seem like you are not letting it happen), whereas Amateur Wrestling is, well, actually competitive. Doing a waistlock and a front chancery is not good mat wrestling.
