Wrestlemania 23 at Ford Field Detroit
RavishingRickRudo replied to converge241's topic in The WWE Folder
It's tough to say. I am leaning towards Austin, but Hogan is just weird in the way fans take to him. -
Two questions: They could get two big buys out of Hogan/Austin. First having them as a tag team, and then having them against each other. Agree or disagree? Also, should Hogan/Austin have an actual storyline attached to it?

I say don't decide on the finish until the fans decide who they want to win. Whether that be in the build to the match or during the match itself. -
Shouldn't the RAW GM be decided? Maybe we will get Back To Being The Responsible One Linda bringing in a new GM in Vinces absense. Or maybe Vince will stay there and continue to forget about that plot line.

The Rock vs. Andre The Giant, maybe, and that's only because of the attraction of seeing Zombie Andre. -

The main event should go to the biggest match. Otherwise you will get a WM 18 situation where everyone in the audience (which included me and LOTC) doesn't give a shit about any match that came after the biggest match because they had already wasted all their energy in cheering for the big match. -

KANG was great. He got off some sick shots on the ground there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v571_YLiGs0&search=azeredo HANSEN/AZEREDO!! WOOOW. I could watch these two fight each other on every show and by the 100th fight it would still WHOMP ASS. Azeredo is silly good. Hansen is like "ok, fuck this, I'm ending it" and he does, and he knows it over. Wicked Competitive.

So close. I guess HHH didn't want those guys sharing in his glory.

It wouldn't suck. Austin and Hogan are master workers and could draw out a 15 minute match that would have everyone and everything going nuts and just use punches. It just wouldn't be a ballet or gymnastics routine, and that's not wrestling anyways. -
The portraits of the wrestlers, if they are like the ones in ROCKY would be fucking nuts. That has me more excited than anything on the WM card. I doubt they could be that cool, though.

I always go back to the promo he cut on Edge and Christian at some PPV and it was just off the chart awesome and the crowd ate all of it up.

OH SNAP! Pulver/Arai may or may not be a FOTYC, but SWEET BABY JESUS if I were making a "best of 2006" MMA comp, this would be the first fuckin fight on it. HOOBOY~! That was awesome. awesome awesome awesome. Jens Pulver is on a ridiculous string of super swank matches. He is easily one of my favourite fighters to watch now. I mean, I liked him before, but... golly... and Arai was lookin good in there two. Those boys were throwin their hands in the air like they just didn't care. Action packed like a motherfucker. AND THE FINISH!~ JEEEEEEEESUS. I am lovin this fight. I gotta see Hansen/Azeredo now.

I think JBL needs to grow out his character because he's been in the same place for 2 years and I hate the "WRESTLING GOD!!!" line. I think a Face JBL vs. Heel Randy Orton would be something to see. I dunno how well it would draw, but in theory, in my mind, it works pretty darn well.

I am not close to being the least bit excited for this show. I think mainly because this show won't have an impact on anything, really. The two main events will have rematches immediately afterwards, so its not over, so whomever wins it doesn't mean a lick. The other main event, Vince vs. Shawn, does it really matter who wins that either? It's not like Shawn beating Vince will do anything? Plus, word is Shawn is taking a lighter schedule afterwards, and it's not like Vince will continue wrestling (thank god). Taker beats another dude at Mania. Who gives a fuck about the womens division? Doesn't matter who wins between JBL and Benoit, they both lose cause they are stuck in the US title division. The money in the bank - I don't want to see Flair win, I don't want to see Benjamin win, I don't want to see RVD win, I don't want to see Matt Hardy win cause all of those matches and feuds with the respective champ would blow. The only two I give a lick about are Lashley and Finlay and there is no way in hell either of them are winning because they are still feuding. And I used to be a nut for Wrestlemania. Even when I didn't like the product I still got hyped the day of Mania. It's almost an hour away from the show and I am more excited to see Sanchez/Diaz again than to see anything on this show.

With Baroni you can say he'd be competitive against anyone in the division, but being competitive and being in the top ten are two different things. Chonan is a perfect example of the Baroni Effect. Before the Baroni fight he was considered by some to be a top 185'er because of the Silva win, but then after Baroni beat him that talk sorta died down, and it was effectively dead after Hendo blasted through him. The Kondo win is less "WOW is Baroni good!" and more "WOW, does Kondo blow in PRIDE". Which is, again, the dreaded Baroni Effect.

The sad thing is, symbolically, it's a horrible match because the two most important, popular, drawing guys on that show were the biggest stars of the 80's and 90's... and it's 00's now. It really is an indictment of the current crop of wrestlers and the WWE's failure to create new stars. -

Austin vs. Hogan is the biggest match of all time. Of course it goes on last. -
But he lost to Minowa. And Drago. And Tanner twice. And Lindland twice. That's a mighty deep hole.
-
Minowa/Silva - BEST SINGLE LEG EVER. My god that was beautiful. I guess working with Meca-Sentoryu worked out after all.

GREAT liver shot/right hook combo by Baroni. It sucks. It really does. It doesn't matter who Baroni beats, it doesn't put him in the top ten. It just takes whomever he beats right out of consideration. It's a no-win situation.
