News from the WWE Quarterly Conference Call . . .
RavishingRickRudo replied to res37618's topic in The WWE Folder
No, because only a small portion of their audience are buying the DVD's. Like, _maybe_ 10% of the audience is. (5% would be closer). -
How close is the WWE close to tanking?
RavishingRickRudo replied to Epic Reine's topic in The WWE Folder
They are still profitable and have over $250 mil in reserve from their IPO. They're going to be around for a while. So enjoy the slide. -
No, he definitely should. I don't think him beating the shit out of a fucking government official was enough to establish him being dangerous. When I saw blood on him, I wanted some torture at least. When I saw Sawyer kick him, I was FREAKING OUT cause Sawyer vs. Jin would have been hot. He didn't even fight back!
-
Fuck you all.
-
I loved this episode too, though it was still more Sun-related than Jin related. The thing with his father in the end, him crying in the bathroom, how he got the blood on his clothes - excellent storytelling. But... why does he have to do the job every time? He got KO'd with the Rock, he got handcuffed, he got knocked out by Sawyer and even MICHAEL got some shots in. He's one of my favourite characters (more than Sawyer now) and he constantly gets fucked. The Shannon/Sayid thing sucks. One of them has to go. For a second I thought Locke lit the boat on fire just so he could rally the army together and get them to realise the greater threat. Plus, he loves it there. The Michael swerve was sweet, but the reason wasn't too too great.
-
That in no way addresses my point.
-
How else would you explain his constant referals to wrestling in the "mainstream"? The way I see it, once Meltzer got married, got old, and had a kid he realized that his wasn't exactly the most respectied profession. "What does your daddy do for a living?" "He talks about wrestling".
-
Dave's dead-on, though. Was it a boring fight? Yeah. But Koscheck flat-out beat Leben mentally, and worked a "smart" fight in the sense that he had a game plan going in, and he made it happen. Dave was in damage-control mode there. He has major insecurities about covering wrestling and would much rather be writing primarily about MMA. He promoted and praised TUF and it didn't pay off; if it was the WWE he would have highlighted the problems the show had rather than going on an indepth diatribe over technicalities.

Poor Dave. Poor, poor, Dave.

The thing with Christian under the Hollywood storyline is that when he DOESN'T win the title, he'll have to stay in the WWE and the fans will feel compelled to rag on him because, well, he hates the fans.
-
Tomko fucking rules, leave him out of it! Christian does need to improve his physical stature, that could mean roiding up or letting some body hair grow. Let's use Shawn Michaels in 1995 as the bare minimum for what a champion should look like. Shawn Michaels is a cruiserweight, and so is Christian. HBK was also roided up with that title reign. It's just the nature of the WWE. If you want the part you have to look the part.

*on one of the firemans pole is Johnny B. Badd* "You may have cooled this place down Chris Masters, but I'ma bout to make it BAAAAAAAAAD" *Confetti falls from the sky* *Alex Wright, Disco Inferno, and the Disqo Duck are also in the ring*
-
Christian should have different motivation though. He should want the title for the money and the fame - Edge wants it because, I assume, it was a childhood dream. Actually, Christian should want the title so he could be like The Rock, get famous, go to Hollywood and be in the movies so he can leave wrestling ("And their goofy-ass white trash fans") behind. And that's not "be like the Rock" as Booker T did, but rather as a way to get the fans to not want him to win the title.
-
It does? *hangs self*
-
He needs to roid up or somehow improve physically. He also needs a catchy-er finish. Christian has all the tools outside the ring to be a showstealer, he just needs it in the ring. He's good at bumping, his stooging isn't bad, and he plays with the crowd but he probably should do more. Thus far long matches with formula have made his matches watchable, but that has been more to the benefit of his opponents. There's definitely something to work with here, and with the right packaging he could work a worthwhile ME program with Batista.
-
Shit, when things are getting really dramatic and heated in the ring, he could run in as a siren goes off and yell out "OOoooh it's getting HOT in here, I gotta COOOOOOL you boys down" *really bad techno blasts as strobe lights flicker and laser beams scatter throughout the arena* *Masters pulls out his hose and fills the ring with foam* *all the wrestlers in the ring shrug and dance with him* JR: Bah Gawd, Masters has turned this wrestling ring into a disco! A gay foamy disco! And the wrestlers can't resist, they're dancing too! King: Oh god JR, I don't know if I can take this. JR: C'mon king, it's not that bad. It's the new millenium, you have to be more open minded. King: It's not that JR, it's... I MUST DANCE TOO! *King jumps up and rips off his shirt and leaves the crown on and goes to the ring* JR: OH... MY.... GOD! King: The king is a queen tonight! HAHA! *lots of pelvis thrusting and fireman polls come down from the ceiling*
-
He could come out with a giant hose and spray the crowd with foam. He'd get murdered in the first night lol.
-
Maybe he's a heel because he takes drugs. Oh wait... that would mean... Forget it. They should have packaged him as, like, Batistas old work out buddy. Someone who used to bodybuild along with Batista and when Batista left things got sour. HHH found out about Masters and brought him in to distract Batista on a personal level. No no no no, that would have acutally been a storyline.
-
His name is LONE STAR!!!!!!!
-
Amazing. It boils my blood. I want this guy DEAD! Who the fuck insults heel Ric Flair and flexes his muscles all the time!!?!?! I couldn't possibly like anyone like that! Oh..wait.. ..Forget that.
-
He's cocky about it???? Has he even talked? The WWE is the one presenting him as "The Masterpiece", aren't they? I mean, they produce the videos, they air the videos, they debut the guy. Maybe if he had someone to "unveil" him, a pompous manager who gets the heat for him with a tinge of homosexual subtext to the managers motivations in leading Masters. Then it'd make a little more sense. As is, the guy hasn't done anything to warrant me liking or hating him other than suck in the ring. And all that means is that I change the channel when he's on. They need to really think these things through.
-
His gimmick is that he's muscular. Benoit is muscular. Guerrero is muscular. I like them. Batista does those same poses and is even more muscular, the fans like him.
-
Are we supposed to boo him?
-
You've got to be fucking kidding me.
-
Was it Diego who did the nice roll-over on Koscheck??
