She's fired other people, as Mayor, just not illegally: Cooper initially resisted resigning, but to no avail. Palin also later fired the police chief, saying she knew in her “heart” that he did not support her. She left the head of libraries a letter saying she was out — though Palin later decided to spare the librarian after being convinced that she would tow the line. For what it's worth, it seems even her most superficial credentials are in dispute, as another woman has come forward claiming to be Miss Congeniality from Palin's regional beauty queen days in the early 80s. I do not believe she will last a week. I've heard people predict she won't even make it through Wednesday, but I think they'll try and stick it out until the Sunday shows absolutely make mince meat out of her and then throw in the towel. This is such a complete disaster that I wouldn't be rocked if the campaign completely surrendered and spent it's money on assisting Republicans elsewhere. I don't expect it, it's totally unprecedented for one of the two major parties to be completely shut out of a Presidential election, but if it did happen I wouldn't be picking my jaw up off the ground like a lot of other people surely would. There's a solid 25% of the country who would vote a parakeet in a cage to be President if it was a Republican, and by halting any active campaigning and simply trying to promote Repubicans and their causes everywhere they can, they may be able to sneak through by getting people out to vote for other things and then voting for the President while they're out there.

I'm probably this board's biggest Kendrick mark and I'd be thrilled if he won but I really don't have any expectations that he will. Like Morrison in MITB, he's there to bump around and maybe tease a win but then get the rug pulled out of him at the last minute.

Oh Jesus, Carville just went to town and back on a McCain supporter on CNN about Palin's qualifications and her hometown. "That City Hall looks like a South Lousiana bait shoppe."

It doesn't count for anything at all, it just throws an exclamation point on the idea that this is a hand-out to the religious right. However, reality came crashing down on that whole "only parents should explain sex to kids and only abstinence should be encouraged and if somebody has a kid it's the parents' fault" idea because hey, she has a pregnant kid, and in a world where you believe it's all up to the parents to keep the kids' hormones in check, and virginity oaths and promise rings don't work, because you'll eventually find someone hot enough to break it for. In Fundie World, this makes Palin a bad parent for not keeping her kid pure, but hey they're doing the right thing by the Lord by having her carry it and marry the father. Although, now that the father's MySpace page is being tossed around, I have to wonder what the fuck is going on. A 17 year old and 16 year old are getting a shotgun wedding because Momma is running for Vice President? If I was that boy, I'd be extorting the McCain campaign for as much as I can get. You want a big happy pro-life family? Pay up.
-
hello guys, I have heard McCain's new bitch is hot. Confirm/Deny?

Yes, that would be nice. Now if only the oil companies would actually drill on any of the large expanses of untouched, undrilled land they have.

You don't understand, man. You have the right to be born (by your mother squatting down in a field if you have a lazy family who can't afford modern facilities) and then nothing else. Your body is practically guaranteed to be banged up and exposed to disease, but if you want to counter that you need to do well in life! Succeed or prepare yourself for a life of pain and suffering. Also, a conservative believes that someone shouldn't be able to purchase an assisted, respectful suicide. Right to life means protecting your life from, uh, you. So, if you can't afford to protect your body from the wilds it's no fair to take an easy way out!

It sounds like the parody of himself in Grand Theft Auto IV. Talking about this clip. Jump to 4:19 and it basically sounds like Beck entirely. "That dream is America, and I tell you what man, that's the dream hard working people all over this country want. To see their lazy neighbours die because they didn't go to work, and get a job, and get health care. Time to remove the teat and say DINNER'S OVER BABY, GO BUY YOUR OWN PAIR OF TITS!"

The Industry that has America by the Balls
Jobber of the Week replied to SuperJerk's topic in Current Events
This write up is a more fair minded piece, unbelievably written by a Fox News guy, on his experiences both with the NHS and the US system when his wife fell ill for a long period of time. The one thing to keep in mind about it though, is that it's written from the position of money. These people are high up enough on the class system that they don't have to worry about how where the money for their next treatment is coming from. So while he puts down the aged and potentially broken facilities at one NHS hospital, the fact is there's enough people to populate a whole country in America who would love to have that aged and make-do facility because their routine is to have no facility at all. Health care is a Haves VS Have Nots thing in this country, and the haves decided "Fuck you, I got mine" and so if you aren't able to become a have yourself, then you fly without a safety net because the haves think it's wrong for them to lift up their fellow men. -
MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Okay, Mr. Internet Male. I can't believe this guy was as big a doof as to think he could effectively disappear and leave the trail cold when his picture was five feet high on the side of his truck. You can't even get that kind of comedy in Grand Theft Auto, although you should. -
Well, people have said it about H forever. Cena, well, he had a more successful midcarder run, I'll give him that. Orton, pushed to the moon while still a black hole of heat. Umaga, pushed to the moon while a black hole of heat and a midcarder gimmick. Lashley, pushed to the moon with some terrible angles. Batista, pushed to the moon alongside Orton. Compare that to someone like Edge who STILL has fans who prefer his comedy shtick in the midcard to the Rated R thing. TLC was breakout stuff, but it wasn't main eventing Mania, or placed in the mainstream-focused "dream match" slot like Umaga and Lashely got when put together against each other of all things.
-
First of all, Edge has been on TV far longer and got over both in the ring and on the mic as a midcarder. Cena and Orton have been projects of the "we can make ANYONE a star by sheer force without them having to earn fan acceptance" machine that was originally built for Triple H and has been pumping out 'main eventers' like Batista and Umaga and Lashley and Orton and Cena ever since. These days you can practically spot the 'chosen one', and they go from curtain jerker to feuding with Triple H almost overnight. (or worse Mr. McMahon, since god knows seeing Vince being knocked around by guys half his age has never started to become routine or ridiculous in principle) Secondly, yeah, Cena's suffering from the bland watered-down effect that happened to post-Corporation Rock and post-WM19 Brock. If you look back in the days of World Life, the padlock and brass knux, and the pre-match rhymes; it's not quite as revolutionary as it used to be but it's way way WAAAAAAAY better than the Chain Gang Souljah Marine Hustle Loyalty Respect HOO-RAH version of Cena that we have today. Like heel Rock and like monster Brock and like Eddie, Cena had this lovable bad boy charm that made him popular because he was so good at being a heel. But rather than heeling it up for pops like Eddie cheating to win, they decided to make him a role model. That was the mistake.

Would you not say AE's post about Marney's lesbianism was more of the same? People can take care of themselves, there's no need to get butthurt over a personal argument between other people except to suggest that they take it to PM if that seems the appropriate avenue for it.
-
Well, if Marney comes back I do believe it has officially reached the level of a fag fight.
-
No, you aren't. As a liberal gay man with a socialist bent it is typically a cold day in hell when I support Marney (and I don't think I actually am as she sees homosexual women as somehow less deviant than homosexual men,) but this is one of those times. I don't know where the whole co-opting of the movement and 'GLBT' thing came from. I've known lifestyle crossdressers and people who were wish they were of another gender, and while I do not have the moral authority to think that is right or wrong (so do not think I am judging you), there is no connection between your desires to be a woman and my desires to suck on a cock. I realize that society and "the community" (as fuckwittedly retarded as it is) does this all the time, but I have no idea why. I have no idea why your issues are on my issues' bandwagon, but the brain chemistry going on behind the scenes is very different and I don't consider them to be the same issue at all.

This may be the greatest argument either for or against an unrestricted free market, depending on your principles.

Chavo is great. Kendrick is great and also highly marketable, if only Vince got over his size fetish long enough to see that girls (and a few guys) are attracted to the cute dude next door type. Jeff Hardy would not have hit merch gold if he looked like a bodybuilder. If they allowed Kendrick to talk and be himself, you'd have this goofy, cartoon character immature type who would be a hit with both kids and girls, which are the two boats WWE seems to miss out on, or only goes after once the ship has already sailed.

BTW, I would kill for Foley/Jericho.
-
I always thought she was the icon of the "I don't do anything, I just stand here" Diva that has given us Kelly, Candice, Layla, etc. Apparently she was really bumping around at some point, I must have missed it.

I like him as a wrestler and I like the actual guy. I guess I find him kind of boring as a retired wrestler who talks regularly, though. On the other hand, he often doesn't get anything other than bad one-liners when he does show up. He showed up on a Raw during the period where Trips was in Evolution and wearing suits and glasses to the ring all the time, and they both lit a fire under each other's asses; with Foley getting into the throaty-scream style promo he's famous for and Trips actually getting pumped up and doing something more interesting than the constant "here is the list of guys I've beat" promo he was doing on an almost weekly basis. You could practically see the adrenaline starting to flow. So basically, I think he's alright, but his on-camera class clown persona has really taken a nosedive for the mundane, probably because Al Snow is gone and there's nobody for him to really play off of.

I scored something in the early 50s, and my dream location scored mid-60s. Of course, my dream location sits on top of a subway line so I suppose I care more about fast mass transit than being able to walk to things. Part of that, and it's something the site didn't take into account, is that I live in a place where the weather is unbearable seven months of the year. I would walk in CanadianChris' extreme colds any day after three summers here and heading into my fourth.

Why say that Show/Mayweather accomplished nothing? It cost a lot of money, I'm sure, but it's made Big Show a popular babyface. Almost entirely on accident, of course, but that's because Vince didn't realize that Mayweather is about the biggest heel you can find in boxing. It was basically salvaged by Shane, since Vince honestly thought a rich smug guy would be popular with fans. On that matter, do you think one of the family will eventually take the business from Vince or will he be running things until he collapses at his desk one day?

I've always thought Chicago was a fairly nice place. I wouldn't mind living there. Though it's always possible the politicians in Illinois are even worse than California.
-
Well, I'm normally an Olympic mark but I'd have no problem if we pulled out of this one or it was boycotted in as many ways possible. China has been going so fascist on their social engineering lately in order to present the best face possible for the Olympics, now is the right time for their shameful record on human rights, the environment, etc to be rubbed into their faces.

Isn't what you described, though, why many (if not most) business-related transportations are actually fueled on diesel? More milage for the same amount of gas and all that? I understand the truck thing, when you need one nothing else will do. My point is to reduce demand so that gas is affordable for those kinds of situations. If you're going to haul trees around in a truck or whatever, you don't have a lot of options. On the other hand, if you're just returning a disc to Blockbuster, that isn't totally necessary.
