Computer jewelry wins.

All they need are a few role players on their bench and they'll be fine. They're well on their way.

Does anyone believe the Yankees can keep up the .750 pace they've been on since the All-Star break?
-
It's not like they're asking him to carry the load as their guy- we're talking fifteen minutes here.

Normally, this thread would bother me, but it made me think of this:
-
Christ, that's exactly what I was thinking. Guests poking around in your medicine cabinet and stuff. Yup. Pictures, too.

Breaking 100 is a good score in candlepin bowling- oh differences.

If the Red Sox play .500 ball the rest of the way, they still win 93 games. To match that total, the Yankees would have to go 35-19, nearly .650 ball. The Yanks are capable of doing that, but they'd have to do it while the Red Sox lost. Considering the Sox still have 12 against Tampa Bay and 10 against Baltimore, that's going to be tough. Can it be done? Absolutely. Just doesn't seem likely. Now the wild card- that's another story entirely.

Of the pitchers you can beat on for this performance, I don't think I'd start with Farnsworth.

My favorite team won a baseball game.

I don't think Walker is a free agent.

Going on one in a while. Never actually been on one. Any ideas about what to bring/what not to bring? I'm thinking some combination of sandwiches/salads, but also trying to impress. Suggestions? Stories?

He won't be in the starting rotation on opening day 2008? That was my point, too. Schilling comes back this weekend- anyone who thought Gabbard was going to stick in that rotation was nuts. He was a spot-starter that turned into trade fodder. Simple as that.
-
Even if the Sox don't sign Schilling [which they might] Gabbard is still behind Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefield, Lester and Buchholz, and that's assuming Masterson and Bowden don't develop further. They've already got spot-starters in Hansack and Pauley- Gabbard had NO spot on this team. I missed it- did Salty and Dotel to the Braves get finalized?
-
Gagne deal is for Kason Gabbard, David Murphy and Engel Beltre. Beltre is 17 years old and projected as a good power-hitting lefty CF.
-
Are you hearing Gabbard and Murphy, too?
-
For who? I'm reading about a dozen different things.

If the Dye deal comes down, it will be really interesting to see the rotation the Sox use to get him the promised five games a week. My guess is he'll be subbing for Drew/Ramirez, and Ortiz may go under the knife sooner rather than later.

Edit: Green is involved.

Al Jefferson's growth coupled with Pierce's decline makes for two-three years of being a #6-8 seed at best. And if they're rebuilding after a championship- yeah, I think Celtics fans wouldn't have a problem with that. Danny was never rebuilding. He was stocking young players to move for veteran talent to make a run at it before he got ran out of town for steering the ship through 5+ years of mediocrity. This team was never going to win based on homegrown talent, and Ainge was pretty clear about that from day one. It's not desparation- it was his plan. Argue if his plan is faulty, but don't call it desperation.
-
But if they do win, we'll be told that Doc was the man for the job all along and deserves another extension. I could coach this team, for Christ's sake.

Pineiro to St. Louis for a PTBNL.

With hindsight being 20/20, that is very interesting to look at.

Why pass up the chance to boo that guy?
