The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

True, but an argument could also be made that "the worst" was the result of former governor Pete Wilson's mass de-regulation policy. I would consider Gray Davis more of a "do-nothing" govenor. He didn't really do anything to fix or help the situation, but at the same time it wasn't his policies that caused it. He just sat on the ball too long. And also, his recall was a bunch of bullshit. The recall was started about two months after he won re-election by some bitter guy who had aspirations to be governor. He pumped approx 2 million of his own fortune into getting the effort started. I was no fan of Gray Davis, but the recall was lame.

I know you got that opinion from Glenn Beck, because someone on another board posted something very similar. They also like Glenn Beck. Do you understand that image or not. If the US didn't have this state, the country would fucking sink. We're supporting everyone else while not getting anything back from the fed. Get it? Hopefully. They owe us. Pay the fuck up. I know that post made me sound like a hardcore leftist, but you know what, I deal in truth, not untruths. Congress wants to give money to banks, while California can't afford to pay their workers? You know all state employees may have to be paid in IOU's. Fuck that shit. Help the people who need it, deserve it, and put in the work for it. Just their hourly fucking wage. The people who count on it. Not some fucking bank. Fuckin' A. I believe California has the 4th largest economy in the entire world. So back the fuck off.

I saw Despised Icon a couple times on seperate tours opening for I think Cryptopsy and then for Vital Remains. They were decent live, but when I listen to their albums it is nothing too exciting. Oh and a few years ago I saw Deicide & Vital Remains on the same show. It was kind of hilarious to see Glen Benton tell the crowd "Goodnight muthafuckas" and then come out 20 mins later with the spiked iron mask on w/Vital Remains, as if we all didn't know it was him....hahahahaha.

    NFL Week 5

Yeah, as a Redskin fan I probably should've warned you that good ol' Double G (extra G for Genius) is not a fan of the whole 'in game adjustments' thing. Week to week is the best you're gonna get. He can sure dial up a nice looking blitz every once in a while though. That's a 'my bad' on my part. As for the Skins win, I'm pretty pumped. I had the Skins' record at this point being 2-3 with them stealing the Cowboys game in the final seconds. I was NOT expecting them to go into two division opponents' houses and dominate them (for those that say that a 2-point win and a 6-point win do not equal 'domination', I point to the Week 1 game against the Giants). That was fun to watch, and I'm getting cautiously optimistic about this team's chances in the future. The Skins have yet to play a team with an offense ranked below the top ten prior to their meeting, and each team has had their low output for the season (in either yards and/or points) when facing the Skins. Also, the Eagles were the first team the Skins have played so far that had lost a game prior to their meeting. Yet, they're 4-1. With the schedule being decidedly less strenuous over the next several weeks, the Skins could be looking very good going into their bye in Week 10. The Giants are the best team in the NFL right now, regardless of their schedule. However, the Skins aren't far behind, and tend to play divisional opponents really, really tough later in the season. It'll be interesting to say the very least. Oh, and the Cowboys aren't so bad either. Philly will string together some victories and will make some noise down the stretch as well. Best division out there, with the NFC South being second. Finally, collectively this is the worse refereed season so far I think I've ever seen. I don't think I need to elaborate here. Just brutal. As another Redskins fan, I am impressed by their ability to go on the road against division opponents and dominate the trenches, not get pushed around and find ways to win. Especially impressive in Philly when for one they were down 14-0 quick, and two this was a game you know Philly "had to win" I think people were giving them less a chance to win this one then the game in Dallas because of the circumstances. My hope now though is that they establish themselves as a dominant team over the next three weeks. They play, St. Louis, Cleveland, & Detroit the next three games. These are not the Redskins should only beat by 2, or 4, or have a w/l come down to a defensive stand in the fourth quarter. It's been awhile since I have seen a Redskins team that not only can go out and play their NFC East rivals tough, but when an inferior team comes along, they let them know by just unleashing the beast on them. The next three weeks is going to tell a lot about whether this team is ready to take the next step.

    The Beer Thread.

I know some folks who play beer pong a different way. They have an actual ping pong table, and they set up a bunch of cups of beer on each side by the corners. and then one "huge cup" in the middle of your side's end You play regular ping pong, When someone scores a point you take a chug, but if someone manages to hit the ping pong ball in, you drink whatever's left on your side of the table. I have also been really gettin' into Black N Tans lately, bit the pre-made ones you buy, rather buying Guiness and Bass Ale, and mixing them. It results in a very good taste. P.S. I am making chili in the slow-cooker today and I used a 12oz Bass Ale for added flavoring. I can't wait till about 5pm.....

Too bad Washington v. Philly isn't being moved to 4:00pm, because that is probably the best NFC game(if not best overall game) of the day on paper. I know they usually ALWAYS move Redskins v. Cowboys games to the national timeslot even one of them is not that good.

I'll agree. If Palin's mission was to not look like a putz, mission accomplished, but she still didn't win the debate and I hope the coverage focuses more on the substance of the debate itself rather then, "Hey Sarah Palin wasn't a complete disaster so it means she won"

    Campaign 2008

It seemed like Palin was going out of her way to take digs at the moderator and the media for being "bias" when it just simply wasn't true. She seemed to resort to the tactic a couple of times out of desperation for not being able to answer a question.

    UFC 93: Franklin vs. Henderson

Yeah, 2 PPVs in one month at $45 each is a little much. If this is indeed true for January, then I will have to wait until both cards are fully announced, buy the ppv I think has the better card, and then go to the bar to watch the other one. Unless the one in Ireland gets changed from being a PPV, to free.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

Question: So for the sub-prime loans, which interest rates go up every so often. Why can't the banks just eliminate the rising interest rates altogether and restore the original rate and make it a fixed rate? It will keep people in their houses, and they will be able to afford to make their house payments. Isn't that the problem in the first place, that people were originally making their payments, but as the interest went up, the payments skyrocketed and since people weren't making more money, they couldn't keep up with the rising payments? So why not just restore the original rates and keep them fixed? I am not saying this can or should happen, I am just asking why not? I am not well-versed in this subject and am just kind of wondering why the banks can't just do something like that?

    NFL Week 5

The hard part about whether to put Dallas as the best team in the NFL or not is the fact that they are still going to blow out the inferior teams, and end up with a rather impressive regular season record, partly because they aren't going to be playing teams with a defense that matches up well against their offense week in and out like they did last week. The Redskins D matches up well, The Giants too. Maybe the Titans for the mere fact that their defense overall is just damn good this season. Other then that I don't see many teams being able to stop their offense consistently throughout an entire four quarters, which of course could once again lead to a great regular season record, and then a one and done in the playoffs. But really, when you are coming off a 13-3 season, the regular season record is not really what you are trying to prove to yourselves, it's winning in the post-season against worthy competition. I would probably put the Giants at #1 right now, because they are undefeated, defending champs, and shouldn't be forgotten about merely because they had the week off. Until someone beats the defending champs, they deserve the #1 spot. As far as the Skins@Eagles this Sunday. It is hard to predict without knowing if Westbrook is playing or not. Also there are reports that McNabb is having some type of chest problems which is limiting him at practice, and will be interesting to see how he respondes to taking a big hit.

Except for the fact that you just named off three additional examples off the top of your head and Palin spent three minutes speaking nonsense in order to hide the fact that she couldn't name a single example. And also, I would be earger to see her and McCain's opinion on California (and I believe a few other states) passing medical marijuana laws and if they would continue to support federal interference, because of how "pro-states rights" they are. Look, honestly I can careless about her "intelligence" or lack thereof, or commentary about "Is she ready to lead" To me, it's just a distraction from the real problem which is her ultra-right wing viewpoints on most issues. The whole "she's ready, no she's not ready" is just a convoluted argument about nothing, all it does is give the right-wing a rallying cry to play a game of cat & mouse. The more discussion given to actual issues, the more people are going to walk, no run away from Sarah Palin.

    NFL Week Four

I agree, but the thing that worries me is how badly this will play on Aaron Rodgers' psyche if some of the fans, who were already extremely wary of him to begin with (little kids heckling him during training camp?! come on!) turn on him completely. On a sidenote, who the fuck actually wants to win the NFC North this year? No actual team in the division seems like they care, but then again GB, CHI, and MIN all are going through the toughest part of their schedules right now. Right, but it also isn't etched in stone that Aaron Rodgers is going to be a good NFL QB yet. A couple games with good stats doesn't mean anything. I agree that he is a long term solution, not the 2008 Savior, however just because he has been picked as a long term solution, doesn't mean he will become that.

    NFL Week Four

I dunno if the Cowboys coaching staff panicked too much to early, but 9 Carries for Barber? 0 for Felix Jones? WTF....? I know the Skins have had success against Barber (I believe he has never rushed for more than 45 yards vs) but 8 carries is unexcusable. Maybe Garrett though they could exploit the Cover 2, but then again Springs was playing TO man-to-man most of the game so it wasn't really a true "Tampa Cover 2" defense. I am also suprised Dallas's front seven didn't have more success against the Skins run game. Portis had 121 yards. After the Redskins first three series on offense, I was ready to suffocate myself under my own pillow at the play of the O-line. Bugel must have fed them something good on the sidelines, because for the rest of the game they played decent, and on any of the isolated plays they didn't, Campbell was able to use his playmaking ability to escape pressure. Redskins leaving a few scores on the field was dissapointing. I guess I am also pretty shocked the Skins secondary played so well considering their pass rush was almost non-existant. They hit Romo a couple of times, but it was after the ball had been thrown. They always seemed a second too late, but somehow they held the big plays in check (until they switched to prevent late in the game) Nice win Skins.

    NFL Week Four

Redskins had a great first half. Gonna be very hard to keep the Dallas offense under wraps for another entire half though. I'd have liked them to take a 2 score lead into half time but hey, allowing a FG is better then a TD. This is definately NFC East football, folks.

Shawn Springs is having a monster 1st half covering Owens. Lets hope those old legs hold up for 2 more quarters.

    NFL Week Four

Redskins tie it up......their O-line is getting overmatched so I like Zorn's playcalling that is getting the ball out of his hands (well on most plays) and into his playmakers hands. Skins D-line is going to have to step up big though and get some type of pressure on Romo or he is going to be able to stand back there and just wait for Owens or Witten to get open.

Obama is right about Iraq, but I think he is dead wrong about sending thousands of troops into Afganistan. If that region has proved anything during the past right years and during the Soviet/Taliban wars, it is that those guys will stop at nothing to drive foreign forces out. I think doing this would start out similar to the Iraq war, where we would go in and blow up a bunch of stuff, claim victory, and then stay, and stay, and then stay some more. Obama is right on Iraq but should use those lessons to get the hell out of the region all together.
