    Campaign 2008

The thing is the media is building up this Charlie Gibson interview like it is going to "set the record straight" when in reality these types of pre-taped interviews are usually 90% fluff pieces. Palin needs to address the press and take un-edited questioning. Whether you are a fan of hers or not, you must admit that ever since she has been announced as VP, she has been protected and very well hidden by the McCain campaign.

Well I think right now the media is turning this into Obama vs. Palin, which is deflecting all attention away from McCain. McCain is just sitting back and letting the media and Democrat strategists rail on Palin while the attention shifts away from him. I actually think Obama's camp needs to steer this campaign back towards the , "excuse me, remember McCain is the nominee and yes he is a continuation of 8 years of Bush" Leave it up to Biden to take care of Palin at the debates.

If "middle america" "small town folk" "real people" or whatever buzzword republicans like to use, are STILL willing to vote for the continuation of the policies of the last eight years thinking it is going to suddenly turn out any better for them this time around, then I am not really sure what is going to get them to stop voting republican. Honestly, I think the Democrats are going to get a higher turnout and THAT is the main factor that will win the election, and voter turnout/new voters are not really being accounted for in any of the polls that are coming out/changing daily. None of the talking heads seem to be talking about new voters and the Democrats seeming to be doing a better job getting new folks interested.

I think one thing they need to do when selecting your play is go back to the old way where once you pick the formation it gives you an option with each button to press on the controller for any given play, instead of the newer way which highlights the play you want. It's ok when playing online but when you are playing a friend in person, all they have to do is watch you pick your play and it makes it extremely harder.

The whole "hockey mom" "soccer mom" "small town politics" notions are bullshit ANYWAY. Last time I checked, big cities also have a PTA, kids that play sports and mom's who coach/chaperone etc etc etc. It is a total farce that because Palin was a "hockey mom" that she somehow knows "small town politics" better.

UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans

I think me personally, I underestimated Rashad's boxing background. He looked like a boxer in there, a boxer taking on a fighter. Even though Chuck was the aggressor and often stalking Rashad, it looked like it was his gameplan the entire time, to lure Chuck into getting to close so he could counter. Wow. My entire living room exploded whether they were for Chuck or Rashad. Everyone acknowledged the destruction they just witnessed as being awesome.

    NFL WEEK ONE

I pretty much agree and I think that is Campbell's biggest learning curve under this type of offense. Campbell was a Joe Gibbs draft pick, drafted for his big arm and playmaking ability, taught to take 5-7 drops, stand behind O-line and wait for a play to develop downfield, and I seriously doubt Gibbs would have ever thought Campbell would be operating a WCO, even though he ran a WCO pretty well in college. I am still not sure what kind of a WCO Zorn is designing though, if it is a more pure Bill Walsh version or the modified kind that The Eagles run where they are taking multiple shots downfield every game. With that said, I think Thomas & Kelly are going to be a vital part of this offense in the future because they are the bigger stronger targets that are going to be running those slant routes across the middle which is going to open up the post routes for Moss and ARE. Of course they also have big learning curves since they were injured during a lot of training camp. (TIMING TIMING TIMING) Until then I think Clinton Portis must remain the focus of this offense because since he joined the Redskins, he has been the one constant standout. No matter how well or poor the team finished, he was the guy that kept the offense going. He had a relatively good game against the Giants(84 yards on 23 rushes) and that was given the fact that he was way under-utilized in the first half. It seemed Zorn was too earger to show off the new WCO, and forgot who the heart and soul of this offense has been for the past four years. By the time he swallowed his pride/ego the Redskins were down 16-0.

    NFL WEEK ONE

Well with almost 24 hours to digest the game I am not AS mad anymore. The Skins offense looks like a typical offense struggling to learn a new system, especially a timing-based one. I guess the upsetting part is that they have a lot of weapons such as, Portis, Cooley, Moss, ARE, so it is more frustrating that these guys are being wasted on a team that seems to change their scheme every season. The Skins D was man-handled in the 1st half, but the Giants only got in the endzone once in the game and after that Eli seemed to revert to pre-2007 playoffs Eli Manning by making bad reads and throwing some horrible floaters. 16-7 is not as bad today, as it felt at the time. The Skins offense has a long way to go, but I think the team overall has the personnel it needs to make the WCO offense work. (Well assuming their two draft picks Thomas & Kelley get themselves healthy and start producing). I know on the one third down the pass to Devin Thomas was the correct read on the hot route, and if the Giants safety doesn't make a great open-field tackle he had no defender in front of him so props to whoever that safety was for a TD-saving tackle.

    NFL WEEK ONE

Soooo should I be happy the Redskins D got an INT, or depressed that their Offense wasted it. I don't understand Zorn's playcalling, IMO, the Skins should have been using the Power Running Game to start off the game. Portis has been effective thus far. Yet they wait until the second half, when they are down and it is a two-score game. It feels like Gibbs 2.0 all over again. I dunno if the Redskins D has kind of waked up, or the Giants are just going conservative because the Skins have shown no abiility to move the ball on offense.

Redskins offense showing a little life as Zorn smarts up and decides to utitlize Clinton fucking Portis. I just hope the D can make enough stops to keep the Skins in this....thus far they have dropped to easy INTs...(Thanks a lot Smoot & Rogers)

    NFL WEEK ONE

Well shit, considering the way the half had gone up to that point I would have been happy with a FG.......Redskins get the ball at the start of the second half....so ummm Giants D, please keep giving us the gift that keeps on giving (penatlies) (I have 2 black & tans and 3 scooby snacks in me so expect, typos, incoherence and complete nonsense in the second half) So on the downside, the Redskins sucked for about 28 minutes of the first half. On the bright side, how much more can they really suck in the second half?

    NFL WEEK ONE

The only thing that can keep my mindset positive is that maybe there is just a big learning curve for a new offensive system like a WCO because it is based on timing. The Redskins O-line wasn't nearly this awful against the Giants D-line last season and this was with Osi & Strahan, and now all of the sudden they can't block/convert on a 3rd & 1? In fact if I remember correctly, the Redskins were pretty effective running the ball last season.

    NFL WEEK ONE

My Gawd...it's only the first quarter and I am already getting the "why did I leave work early for this shit" jitters...... The Redskins look lost on offense (granted it was only one series) but I still question Zorn's eagerness to show off his brand new WCO, when the Skins strength right now on offense is the running game in which he is keeping the same scheme for that they used under Gibbs. The Skins D is ok, but can't get off the field on 3rd down because they aren't generating pressure. It is nice that Taylor is lining up, but not if he has a bum knee. Oh Fuck Me, it's only the first quarter.

Yeah I think that is my main gripe with the speeches at the Republican convention. I mean, I understand they are supposed to be red meat for to rally the base and that is fine. State your position, criticize your opponents opinion, explain why your position is better, throw a little humor in there, wash-rinse-repeat. However between Palin's outright lying and Romeny's "I guess I've been asleep for the last 30 years because I am here to rescue washington from the liberals" speech, it just comes off odd that conservatives seem to just have to make things up in order to get people to rally behind them, but I guess at the same time, if the people aren't willing to look beyond the speeches and do their own research, that is what they deserve to get stuck with.

When playing online has anyone encountered any sore losers who use the "Connection to Opponent Lost" glitch? It is basically a glitch in the game that allows them to quit without the game counting. Tonight is the second time it's happened to me. I was playing someone using the chargers and I stripped LT of the ball for on two consecutive series and the guy just up and quit, but did the glitch so the game wouldn't count....... Oh and probably tomorrow I'll upload a highlight I saved of a kickoff return for a TD by Randal El, in which I totally abused the Juke stick. Watching the highlight you will realize why you should love it and hate it.

It's kind of funny because the pregnant daughter is such a red herring distraction. By focusing on that, you lose that she ruled that town with an iron fist and left them mired in debt. If you wanted to, you could say they deliberately threw that out there because they know sex sells. But then, first of all they'd call you a sexist awful bastard. And secondly, we know they simply aren't thinking that many moves ahead or else they would not have chose her. Well I even could go as far as to say McCain's camp released the "preggo" tidbit because they knew the media would distract themselves with such a non-issue, which would basically give Palin a free pass going into tonight's speech...... (Wait, was that what you were trying to say?)

To me it is also kind of hypocritical for an arena full of republicans to "poo poo" taxes on the top 2-5%, yet overwhelmingly support a war that could cost a few trillion dollars by the time the dust has settled. I mean, I guess we can just cancel "government" in order to pay for the war....!?! Maybe the Democrats should pounce on the "how the hell are we going to keep paying for this war" issue.... All I hear from republicans is how our government can't afford healthcare or education expenses and this and that, yet in an endless war that we are in, the money is magically coming from somewhere over and over and over again.

Not that I want to re-visit the pregnant daughter issue but I just was thinking about this last night and I wonder if the reaction of the public would be different if her daughter had contracted HIV instead of getting pregnant as a result of her abstinence-only education. I mean, lets face it, being a teen mother is never easy, ibut for the sake of the election/politics in general t's rather easy for the evangelical base to throw out the canned line of "oh she loves life, she is celebrating life" but what if her choice resulted in an STD, what do you think the reaction would be then?
