I agree 100% The turn had been teased so much that people were aching for it, and Sabu as a heel would have been perfect for the ECW atmosphere, as people would barely be able to bring themselves to boo on of their heroes, but would probably do it because they loved RVD even that much more by that time.
-
Well see thereinlie(d) the problem I guess with ECW on TNN. With a new audience, guys like RVD are new to them, and if Heyman is trying to get an entire new audience over with RVD, it might be dangerous to unload the belt. Of course the people who followed ECW up to that point would still be all over RVD, but that is because they were familiar with his body of work, newer fans not so much. Who knows how they would have reacted?
-
Possibly, because ECW on TNN was produced more as a traditional wrestling program. ECW's old syndicated show was almost a companion piece to the internet, in that unless you were living in the Philly area(and or lived in an area ECW frequented making it possible to attend shows), all you got of ECW was a a snipet of 43 minutes(cause of commercials) every week, so you mostly relied on the internet to find out everything that was happening during their big shows that they couldn't fit onto the hour show. Some of the bigger ECW Arena shows would provide for about 3-4 weeks of shows, but sometimes even then the tv audience would miss out on a lot of the promos and extended mic time certain workers got at shows. In other words, ECW on TNN felt like a a product that was produced for TV, where as the old syndicated show felt more like someone just videotaping a wrestling show and broadcasting it. Both were enjoyable, just different.

It wasn't horrible, but it was apparent that Heyman was trying to make the best out of a bad situation with the state of ECW, and a network that treated ECW as a pawn to try and get Roller Jam and whatever that basketball on Trampoline show was!?! Still managed to have a lot of good matches and shows, but anyone who watched the syndicated show in the mid-late 90's knows it just wasn't the same.

Menudo. But not out of the can.

What is pissing me off is that when gas prices were hovering at 4+ dollars a gallon, the cost of food in the grocery stores went up, but now that gas is back down to under $2 a gallon, you'd THINK that food prices would fall, but they haven't. Stuff is still outrageous at the grocery store.

Thanks. Much Appreciated. I have heard in the past that sometimes LCD can run into "ghosting" issues, when viewing programming such as sports. Is this mainly older LCD technology or does this kind of thing still happen? I do plan on watching a lot of sports in HD.

AFter watching the movie for a second time, I really think that Mickey Rourke's performance outshined an overall average film. I mean the movie itself is ok, but Rourke is so good as Randy the Ram that you'd almost think the movie is a straight documentary.

I'm starting to wane on the "drunkeness" myself. It's kind of weird, I still enjoy drinking in itself, but I kind of found recently that if I drink until I am feeling good, and relaxed and then pace myself enough to keep that feeling, I end up having a better time then if I just keep drinking and drinking until I am so drunk that it will take a night of sleep to wear off. A nice Power Hour is a good way to get into that state of inibriation where you are feeling good, but not drunk.

"Regulate" is a pretty popular song to be played during a party at my house once the alcohol has been flowing, and blunts have burning and people are looking to hear some music.

So with Tax return time on our heels, I may be finally pulling the trigger on a new tv. The cool thing is it looks like I have two potential buyers for my current tv that are willing to pay $500 for it, which will knock off a significant amount from anything I decide to buy..... I looked at a couple of options from the CostCo website, and am wondering if some of the experts here can give me some feedback. The first one is a 46" sceptre 1080p and is going for a mere $699.00Listed Here At that price it is hard to complain about what you are getting, but keep in mind my budget for the new tv is significantly higher then that so I am willing to hear and every reason about why I should not get this particular set. The other one is a 50" plasma Vizio Listed Here Again, the price seems pretty good for the screen size, however there might be something about it that gives me reason enough not to get it. Still a couple of months away from when I expect to get my tax return money, so there is still plenty of searching to do, I just wanna get your guys opinions on these two sets. Thanks.

It's kind of messed up how things are getting worse with cops. Cops are tazering and shooting people when they are already cuffed and restrained. I dont't understand the rationale of even tazering someone once they are already restrained and not even acting hostile. Why was the cop even reaching for his tazer? All the talk of rent-a-cops in this thread makes me think of Blackwater the private contractor company that "trains" people(mostly former military) to get them prepared for government contracts that send them on various assignments. They have a large force in Iraq now, and they had a big group disbursed in New Orleans during the Katrina aftermath, they weren't there to help of course, just to stop people from looting. This group also doesn't answer to any type of rules of engagement right now, which is a bit of a scary thing. If this is any indication of how military and law enforcement are going to operate in the future, it's not looking good.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread
NoCalMike replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
As funny as the Huerta thing sounds, MMA fans are probably going to have to get used to this type of thing considering how low these fighters are paid compared to every other major sport. When guys on PPV are barely making $50,000 who can blame them for looking at other options? -
So how exactly do you use these tokens? Just go online the PSN store and input them somewhere?

I'll take one if there is any left.

Well yeah, wrestling fans will pick up on these little details, my question was about non-wrestling fans. I mean I guess "Wrestlemania" as a brand name could be significant, but I wouldn't want people(non-wrestling fans) getting confused because the "big rematch" takes place in front of a few hundred people.

I just got done watching Gran Torino. It's definately added to my best of list as of now, but like I said before, I have so many more films from this year yet to have been seen.

Wow it was pretty solid. Rough movie too. For anyone interested, you can watch it here.... http://beta.vreel.net/watch_11546.html

I think part of it has to do with Vince having complete control over everything. I doubt he ever wanted to make the product pushing a "Mature" rating, in the mid-late 90's, he just kind of had to because that is what was catching on in other companies and taking from his own business. Also, lets look at my generation of "wrestling fan" I am 28 right now, so basically as a kid, I was the last wave of "Hulk Hogan era" which then led to the downtime, not workrate-wise but business-wise....then as I become a teenager, suddenly ECW sprouts up with a more mature theme and then WCW & WWE follow suit and get more edge to their product. So as I am growing up and, so is the wrestling business. The problem though is, there is still an entire new generation of kids that between them and their parents, spend a hell of a lot more money on merchandise then me who Vince is probably alienating by the more mature product. Fast forward, and ECW is done, WCW is bought, and you have Vince in control of everything, and takes the company public, which means now he doesn't answer to merely himself. Whether you like the product or not, (I don't for the most part) Vince probably made the best BUSINESS decision.

A lot of films I anticipate being on my Top 10 I haven't seen yet, due to either not playing in my area, or they are in my netflix que still, but here are the my favs of 2008 so far in no particular order The Dark Knight Let The Right One In The Wrestler Forgetting Sara Marshall Pineapple Express Tropic Thunder Bigger Stronger Faster Anyone here heard of brightsidevideos.com ? I watched the Wrestler earlier, next up Gran Torino. I kind of feel like an asshole watching these online, but hey I can't really afford to see these movies at $10 a pop at the theater. I paid to see all the movies on my best of list except The Wrestler, so fuck it, I guess, right?
-
Just watched it. Pretty good flick. My only request would have been maybe a scene or two of Randy visiting old friends at a big time show or something, to give some perspective on how "small-time" Randy has actually become. As a wrestling fan, I am assuming at his peak Randy was headlining shows in sold out arenas ala WWF-type shows, but we never really know for sure how big time he ever was. Non-wrestling fans watching the movie, might get a better understanding of just how big the mighty has fallen, if we got a flashback or something.

Preview was great, thanks. Can't f'n wait....

Yeah, I am in a similar position. I have a 1080i Toshiba 46", and my video games(PS3) and blu-rays look pretty amazing considering there is still one level higher(1080p) for them to look in terms of quality. I probably wouldn't even be considering getting a new TV anytime soon, however I have one of those rare earlier models of HDTV that supports 1080i but not 720p, so I am fucked if I ever want to get Dishs HD Box, because any channel that broadcasts in 720p will be downconverted to standard def, and from my understanding, most channels are still 720p not 1080i. I called Dish and asked if their box would upconvert to 1080i, and they said no, so either the tech had no idea what he was talking about, or the only channels I would viewing in HD, are the ones that broadcast in 1080i. As far as video games and DVDs/Blu Rays my TV is just fine.

Umm, if you don't mind watching it on your computer....... http://stagevu.com/video/zthbvlonakxy

When does the Penn/GSP 24/7-style shows start airing?
