Actually, I like this, but I think what would be better is the other way: Michaels wins clean, with Cena turning afterwards and beating the hell out of him with a chair (to set up a rematch). Cena could even beat him with his old chain thingy. Cena needs to change things up character-wise and he doesn't need to be a goiod guy anymore to promote his movie or sell dvds (anymore). Michaels is best as a tweener heel though, when he's mostly shooting/serious (like against Hogan).

To be in contrast with the new white-supremacist angle for Orton, of course.

Count me in as loving this new angle/attitude for Edge. Nice to see Cena/Michaels unnecessarily kill the whole tag division in one night. The tease between Michaels and Cena is good build-up, but why kill the whole tag division?

Totally. To Trump's and Vince's credit, the "show" went on without a noticeable pause. Hated the whole over the top "We love you Bobby" commentary by Trump; just seemed odd. Can't wait to see JR announcing another skittles promo next week.

The best part of this feud are Umaga's and Lashley's expressions when Vince is talking. Austin adds nothing at this point and just makes things tedious and predictable. Man, was Trump gay for "Bobby" or what tonight? With the build this match has, it'll be real interesting to see where they place this on the WM card. I'll call Cena-Micheals, then Trump/Lashly vs. Umaga/Mcmahon, then to end show, Taker vs. Batista (although I'd do it in reverse order b/c Cena/Michaels will be a much better match than Tista/Taker.

C'mon. That was more like a weak clothesline to Melina's ribs. Yeah, Edge's spear is pretty lousy, but Ashley's there was even worse. Well, I guess Melina just sells it damn well cause it looked awesome...guess she really wants to keep her job. Anyone else still wondering why the hell JR was so excited about skittles. For a minute there, i thought Jr's special sauce was about to spill.

Can't Melina just smooth everything over by agreeing to pose nude in Playboy? I mean, that is the way to get the company behind you, right?

    NHL Thread

Well, with the possibility of the Penguins having to leave Pittsburgh, I'm spent time trying to figure out why hockey is low on the totem-pole in team sports (other than Bettman and dilution of league with expansion into non-hockey towns + previous boring play in nineties-lockout b/c of the "trap"): The one thing that i think really killed hockey in many ways is with expansion/expansion of divisions, they eliminated the division playoff format before the conference final format, and thus eliminated rivalries, which are at the basis of any great stretch run a particular league's had. What the hell happened to the Habs and Bruins rivalry? Does anyone except the most diehard fan care, really, unless we meet in the playoffs. I loved hating the Whalers/Sabres/habs/Nordiques, b/c you know you'd be facing them in the playoffs every year. Without rivalries, there's no real hate/emotion, which fuels popularity of a sport. The best run/biggest growth of the NBA was the 80s, when there were a ton of rivalries, with the Pistons hating the Celtics, Celtics hating the Sixers, the Lakers and Celtics clashing, etc. Stanley Cup hockey is still the most exciting post-season out there, in my opinion, with the best trophy in all of sports. However, it loses it's meaning in away with the high prepondrence of lower seeds upsetting division winners (thereby invalidating the regular season, to an extent) and the loss of true rivalries in the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure that would be Kevin Adkisson (Von Erich). I believe Chris died in a suicide in 1991 (sec. to being heartbroken over his other brother's deaths). Bring back the Iron Claw!

Why would you after December to Dismember. I don't feel like paying $40 for 2/3 of a normal PPV. Though at least I know Test woun't be in the main event.

    ECW 2/27

I actually think you make a great comparison. Cena, while to me not entertaining/good in regular wrestling matches, excels at gimmick matches (see his last man standing matches with Umaga, JBL, even TLC with Edge). Lashley can be good in gimmick matches, such as that cage match, which hide his deficiences. Problem is, as opposed to Cena, Lashley (and of course Batista) is awful/crowd killer on the mic.

AND to sell dvds. This mini-debate about Dynamite's worthiness as a HOF only hinges on if Vince has the rights to footage to Dynamite's non-WWE stuff. If not, he'll never be inducted alone as there's not a DVD for Vince to sell. If the Von Erichs are, in fact, to be inducted to the HOF, it's only beacuse Kevin sold the rights to the WCCW video library (and thus a DVD can be made).

Which, of course, begs the question: If Demolition is elected, will Crush(Bryan Adams) also be inducted as part of the team? And if so, has to be the worst non-celebrity inductee ever, right?

I wouldn't induct someone/give someone money (via DVD sales) if they banged my underage daughter. Yeah, I'd probably take that grudge to my grave. Oh, and Kevin Adkisson (Von Erich) is still alive.

Aren't the Von Erichs supposed to be inducted this year (and thus the WCCW DVD that will come out)? If so, the only one I can think of to do an induction is Freebird Michael P.S. Hayes. Will the Von Erichs be the first clan inducted?

Actually, I believe he actually does this. Interesting to know, though, if this is how Backlund really is truly, or if he just stays in character at all times, ala "Loose Canon" Brian Pillman. Anyways, Backlund is gold.

Ron garvin was definitely a NWA champ afterr beating Flair, not WCW champ. I think it was '88 or '89.

    Money in the bank

quote name='Black Lushus' post='2428711' date='Feb 26 2007, 05:07 PM']I I think there's something to this idea, because like I said, and like Al said, the concept will eventually run it's course. There's really only a few directions to go. A) Guy waits and cashes in after a champ has just won a hard fought match B) Guy challenges champion for major match ahead of time (which is really no different than how a typical PPV or Raw match is built up) C) Guy challenges champion same night he wins (yet to be done). You do forget option D) Waiting the whole year to main event WM 24. It would make most sense, one would think, to want to main event a WM, right? (Yes, I know, alot can happen or not happen in a year, including injury).

    Predict-a-card: Wrestlemania 23

I actually like that idea, but it'd be impossible for them both to get down from the ladder(s) with their hands still both on the case. What would be great is if both have their hands on it at top of the ladder, and there's a tug of war where they drop it to the ring below and one of the other wrestlers gets it (CM Punk, maybe?). That would be a great basis for a feud.....or one wins it (say Edge) and later in the year Orton beats Cena at a PPV for the title, onlyto have Edge cash it in right away on that PPV, defeating Orton. Orton (or Edge) is only champion of a total of two minutes and further sets them up to explode. (Course the problem is I can't see either being an effective face).

You know what I'd love to see again at Wrestlemania? I'd love to see B and D list celebrities to interviews back stage with the wrestlers, like they did back in the old days with Bob Uecker/Mary Hart/Vanna White. Was just rewatching old Wrestlemanias and they were hilarious.

    WWE announces 2007 DVDs

There's many matches that people can debate about putting on Hennig's DVD, but they really, really, REALLY need to throw in that SNME promo in November '89 when Mr. Perfect DESTROYED Hulk Hogan's championship title. That was quite possibly the greatest promo Hennig ever gave in his career. It was, well, perfect. Please elaborate (ie, Idon't remember it). Thanks.

    OAO No Way Out thread

Not to be a jackass or anyting, but with most people who want to by a PPV at home essentially now having to have digital cable or satellite (ie, the cable company really forces you to have digital cable if you want cable now), does any of this really matter? Does anyone buy/order a PPV weeks before or just select it right before it starts on digital cable/satellite like I do (and I think most people do). It's not like the 80s and 90s when you had to order it a couple of days before. Thus, as long as they announce the ladder match is off a week or so before the PPV, I don't think the WWE is duping people to spend their money on a false card. Please let me know if people get their PPV another way at home where you would order it ahead of time now-a-days.
