So did old man Gracie get KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT in the 1R like everyone with half a brain surmised?
-
I just think Shaq would eat Diop, Dampier, Van Horn and Dirk for lunch because he'd know that the title was there and he wouldn't really have to conserve energy for another series. I think Dallas is more likely to blow their series against Phoenix just based on their history of losing games they had by the throat down the stretch. They should easily be up 2-0 with a chance to put this one to bed with a win in Game 3 or 4. With the Hack-A-Ben working now and Flip Squanders looking like a high school coach, I think Detroit is in some serious trouble especially if Miami takes the game on Monday. The Pistons are far too cocky relative to their output this postseason and I think that Miami's gonna be the team that stands up and punches them square in the mouth. I agree that Dallas/Miami could be the best series since the late '90s and would love to see that pairing, even moreso if it went 7. It would make up for the miserable 5 year run of the Knicks AND the sickening moments of the Pistons and Spurs hoisting the championship trophies recently.

Ryan Franklin is the 2006 MVP of both the Mets and Braves thus far.

Miami vs Dallas ends with Miami in 5 or 6. Miami would have two unguardables against Dallas' one. Terry would also be limited by Wade and if Walker got hot at any point he'd more than negate Stackhouse/Howard. Dallas has the better team, I just think Miami matches up really well against them especially given Dallas' lack of experience. However, I don't think both of those teams will win even though that's the one series left that I would definitely watch every second of every game for.

I think we're about due for a 'Sheed blowup tonight.

#283 for Glavine shouldn't have been that close, but a win is a win and Wagner gets a bullshit save (came in with a 4 run lead and only went .2 IP).

Mets get the bases loaded with no outs. I will give you one guess as to how many runs they score in that situation. Granted the game should be in the bag, but the Mets seem to be as allergic to the sac fly as Dusty is in love with the sac bunt.
-
Does anyone have a link to the chart that showed the percentage of the time where a team scores at least a run with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs? I swear the Mets get that run home maybe 3% of the time this year. If we don't get a bases loaded walk it's almost guaranteed that the man on 3rd, and often times second as well, will get stranded. How hard is it to hit a ball to the outfield for a sac fly at least once in every 10 opportunities?

Why are you bringing up fouls when we're talking about travelling? The two infractions are not the same. LeBron routinely takes 3 or 4 steps when driving to the paint and never gets called for it. But I guarantee you if Damon Jones or Larry Hughes did the same thing they'd get whistled up on almost every play. Jordan walked all of the time, as did Patrick Ewing which made his finger roll miss against Indiana in Game 7 even more maddening. Had he taken the extra step like HE ALWAYS DID, it would have been a dunk and a series victory. Shaq shuffles his pivot foot at least 5 times per game, and maybe gets called on it once every other game. No names almost always get called for travelling, superstars usually don't. Dispute it all you want, but just watch an NBA season and you'll see that what I'm saying is true. As for baseball Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux used to get the entire plate plus 6 inches on either side back in the day. Stars get star treatment in every sport.
-
Shawn Marion is not Dirk Nowitzki. End of story. LeBron could take 7 steps if he wanted to and even won a game with one of his patented triple jump moves, but Gilbert Arenas wouldn't get away with that. Travelling is the one call in the book that superstars get EVERY SINGLE TIME.

4 straight losses for the Mets when Pedro starts. This is not a good trend. The Yankees are about to pull this one off against KC as expected. Scratch that, the "Giambino" just grounded into a 4-6-3 DP to end it.

The Suns averaged 18 FT per game during the season. They don't draw many fouls in position to get to the line. Judging how fairly officiated a Suns game is by measuring their FT production is silly.

The Chicago Cubs: Inventing new and excruiating ways to lose since 1908.

That's a lot of money for a guy who won't last one round against Hughes. Nice gig if you can get it.

Danny isn't muslim. Then somebody needs to tell Danny that all that praying to Allah is pointless if he's not a Muslim.
-
Amen brother. Amen. I'm almost tired of watching the games because the team of 3 on the court ends up deciding who wins moreso than either team of 5.

Stupid Canadian. Now no one's ever gonna erase that loser Bobby Thigpen's name from the record books.

Sounds like Miami's problem, not Detroit's. Detroit put up 25, which is respectable. If Miami can only muster 12, again, their problem. It is Miami's problem, but Detroit's the only team that can end a game in the first quarter by being up double digits. It means they came to play that night, and no one beats them when they come to play. This game was over at the 8 minute mark of the first quarter. The 2+ hours afterwards is just determining the final margin of victory which should be between 13 and 17.
-
The first quarter of tonight's game is why I can't watch a Pistons series unless there's a player on the other team I really like. Yes, they play great defense but I am just not into basketball where the offense is optional by the 3rd quarter. Miami won't break 70 tonight, so this game is already over and it's only 8:45 PM.

Seems like kind of a useless trade, really. At the best, Williams is only marginally better than Jeremi Gonzalez. The front office seems to have no confidence whatsoever in Soler despite a pretty good first start, and apparently don't want to wait for Maine to come back and see if he could fill a spot in the rotation. Of course, this flurry of activity proves just how determined the Mets are to not allow Heilman to ever, ever make a start. I think Soler will get the # 5 spot, or at least another chance to win it. At least they're not giving up anything substantial just to get back end of the rotation protection. If anything, Gonzalez, Bannister and Maine are the ones most likely not to see the light of day again.

That would be devastating for the Suns if Raja couldn't play the entire series. Could they really have a chance of beating a deep team like the Mavs with a bench that only consists of Jones and House? Kurt Thomas would probably have to play, though as a Knicks fan I don't think that would be a good thing. But then again Tim Thomas has been one of the best players in the whole league this postseason so you never know.

Seriously though, if you're going the online route and you don't meet the chick within the first 7 days of contacting them, it's best to just move on. The longer the wait, the more likely it is she'll flake out, or she's already met someone else while stringing you along. The main mistake guys make these days is they really believe you need to give 100% to every kind of relationship. There's NO reason you should get your feelings hurt or heart broken by someone you've never met in the flesh.

If you don't see how the Beatles influenced rock and popular music, I don't know what to tell you. You misunderstood me. I get why people like the Stones, Beatles etc. and claim they're in the pantheon of greats. I was saying that I'm tired of people telling me that I should feel the same way. I just don't like that kind of music so it doesn't really matter to me how great they are because I won't be listening one way or the other.

Wood has shoulder stiffness and may miss his next start. Ridiculous.

I didn't see that post in particular. Fair enough. I don't really follow touring/festivals so I wouldn't know the impact that anyone has there except for U2, Springsteen, Madonna and the Stones who always have monster gates everywhere they go.
