The Smush Parker taunts were spot on, but this stands out as the thing that's funniest simply because it's going to be made true shortly. How Isiah still has a job in NEW YORK of all place is beyond me.

At this point, though, there aren't any characters that are purely hiding behind a numbers game. The ones that were (Danielle & Cirie, especially) have stood up & made their play by voting off the Shaniac. They might not be dominating the challenges, but they're doing a lot more than just lurking out & quietly going with the flow, the way some previous Survivors have. Danielle and Cirie were carried from the initial tribal merge at 14 until the final 4 by a numbers game. They didn't have to do shit for about 30 of the 39 days on the island. I'm sure Terry won't win the F3 immunity and that either Danielle or Aras will stiff him because there's no way either can beat him for the cash. All Terry has to say is "I won 6 (?) straight immunities, had a huge target on my back from the merger, and even with all of that against me, here I am" and the money is his. Aras would deserve the money more, but he burned more bridges. I think Terry, Austin, Sally and Bruce would likely vote for Danielle, while Cirie and Courtney would vote for Aras. If she can convince Shane that Aras did him dirty she's good to go by a 5-2 margin.

I can't believe either Aras or Danielle is going to win the million dollars if/when Terry loses ONE immunity challenge. I hate seasons where one player dominates the game and ends up all but handing the payday over to someone who hid under the radar, and/or behind a numbers game.

Since I've never been kicked in the head before (although I've taken lacrosse balls and baseballs to the helmet/mask), did it make a difference that Rory connected with his knee instead of the lower leg? I doubt it. The man was completely gassed with 30 seconds left in the first round and one shot was going to drop him as long as it connected. The first or second punch once he was grounded was what actually put him to sleep, so I think foot or knee would have been equally effective in setting up the KO.

I made one post about the Mets not blowing their hot start by losing 4 out of 5 or 5 straight. Bruiser posted about 5 times just during yesterday's game that the season was almost over. There's a pretty big difference there, but I don't expect you to see it.

The easiest way to do that is to post up Marion and Diaw, the only slashers who actually go all the way to the rim. Marion should have been out of that game down the stretch, then they could have went to work on Diaw and Thomas. Let Nash get 40 if he has to, but don't let these other guys chill out for 15 seconds while Nash yo-yos the ball from side to side, gets trapped and then makes a jump pass out to wide open spot up shooters for 3 or foul line extended jumpers.
-
I guess it's funny getting so into these first round games when I probably won't bother watching a second of the Finals when Detroit plays San Antonio again.
-
He played no defense, missed every shot he took, and passed up wide open shots down the stretch because he had no confidence. LA was playing 4 on 5 whenever he was in the game. You and I had about as much of an impact in a positive way as he did tonight.

All L.A. had to do was foul Marion and Thomas out in the second half, but they blew it. Props to Tim Thomas for earning his entire career worth of paychecks in this series. Nash as the "Closer" when Thomas hit the two biggest shots of the game makes about as much sense as Smush seeing any playing time in Game 7. Vujacic plays no 'D' either, but at least the dude can hit A shot. Since I won't be home on Saturday night, does anyone know when Clippers/Suns Game 1 is?
-
Tim Thomas just won this series for Phoenix and saved Nash from missing the final shot for the Suns in the 4th quarter. This just doesn't make sense.
-
I guess the refs didn't want to rig this one. More importantly, where the hell has this Tim Thomas been his entire NBA career?

They don't need to win the division to get to the postseason or the World Series. Again, it's only May 5th. The NL Central won't end up with 4 or 5 teams pushing 100 wins, so the Cubs still have 135 games to make up the whopping 4 1/2 deficit they're facing. They're not the Pirates or Marlins who are already staring at mathematical elimination.
-
As much as I didn't think it was possible, Phoenix is going to take this series. Marion went that whole quarter playing 30 feet from the hoop because Odom didn't post him up. Thomas picked up his 4th with about 3 minutes to go and didn't have to play defense after that. Diaw sat almost the entire quarter with 4 and the Suns are still up 3. I don't get the logic to not pounding the post until all of the Suns big men have 4 or more fouls, or Grant has to play significant time. Stupid gameplanning and/or execution leads to a 3-1 lead being lost.
-
I don't think we have enough complaints about the Cubs in this thread. I mean, what did you realistically expect from them with Prior, Wood and Lee on the DL? Take 2 frontline starters and the best hitter off of any team and they'll struggle mightily. You're still a game over .500 for crying out loud. If you were the Pirates or Marlins I could see the "all hope is lost" philosophy, but it's NOT that bad just yet.
-
All L.A. has to do is keep pounding it inside by posting up Odom. That'll put Marion on the bench with his 4th foul, and then they can do the same with Diaw or Thomas. If Kobe doesn't try to win it by himself they should be alright.

From Charlie's lips to God's ears. If the Mets can take another 2 out of 3 from Atlanta this weekend, they'll be 8 out on May 8th.

Raja Bell needs to be in the process of clotheslining his fish in the picture

Outlandish prediction time: Nenad Krstic will be a franchise level center before he retires. What is Anthony Johnson on during this series, and more importantly where can I get some?
-
It seems that the Mets fear scoring when Glavine pitches (14 runs through his first 6 outings, only 4 in his last 3). They left 7 men on through the first 3, had the bases loaded and no outs and got a run thanks to a BB, then proceeded to make 3 outs. One timely hit and they'd have a 3 or 4 run cushion. It's got to be frustrating for Tommy.

Did NC State set a record for most times rejected by prospective coaches before hiring Lowe? -
I know what you meant. What I was getting at is, if someone had gotten in Bell's face the whole scene could have escalated, and Bell's action guaranteed his suspension so there was nothing else to be gained. As it turned out Kobe did end up getting T'd up again just for arguing the call after Kwame was thrown to the floor, so it seems like they did the right thing.
-
I honestly think that was probably a good thing. Maybe it's because I'm a Knicks fan and when we used to make it to the playoffs last millenium that kind of situation would have gotten a bunch of guys suspended for coming off of the bench, or starting a Van Gundy draped on Alonzo's leg kinda situation. I think they also knew Raja just about handed them the series in a blowout victory and were so stunned at his stupidity that they were temporarily paralyzed. Or they just were thankful Raja did something they've secretly longed to do, but couldn't.

Better effort than last year. He took about 10 games off with nothing structurally wrong with his hamstring, and you know that he's not going to end up playing the last 135 games of the season because he's soft. When you're getting $15+ million per, you need to play with a couple of aches and pains. The Mets can't afford to have Endy Chavez starting and being a man short on the bench every time Carlos decides he's sore.
-
Jordan should also lose his job for not calling time there. I didn't realize they had a full, which would have let them set up a shot from inside the frontcourt. That's quite possibly the worst 4 seconds of coaching you'll ever see.
-
Yeah one bad play that loses a non elimination game sure is worthy of axing a guy who has turned one of the worst teams in the league for years into a contender. Yeah. Does anyone really care if the Wizards win 43 to 45 regular season games yearly if they let a guy make a lay-up in a playoff game they could have won? Coaches should be fired for not having his defense in position to make plays that potentially cost them a series. It looks like LeBron might have stepped out of bounds on that last play too.
