    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

The Kings are starting to look like they could make this series go 7 which didn't seem fathomable to me at least after they were blown out in Game 1, and suffered a heartbreaker in Game 2.

If Kobe plays like postseason Kobe more often during the regular seasons from here on out, then I definitely think he'll win another title or two before he retires and I NEVER would have believed that before. Postseason Kobe might actually be able to lure big free agents despite dicking over Shaq. I imagine that processing this information is what it was like for people who used to think the Earth was flat and then found out it wasn't.

Kobe Bryant has made Kwame Brown play better. That is all that needs to be said about his greatness.

How about him hitting two monster shots when Nash made two monster blunders? Or 3-1 LAL in a series Ripper declared a cakewalk for Phoenix? That good enough?

Lakers win a thriller, and I am shocked.

It's funny how people everywhere don't want to admit that Nash blew that game not once but twice by putting himself in a position to get his pocket picked by Smush, and then tied up by Walton. It's also funny how it was a league wide conspiracy that caused Smush to hit a 3, and Kobe to make the two biggest shots of the series with the game on the line both times. I should also rescind any praise I ever expressed for Marion since he has done about as much as Amare in this series. Ripper's prediction of the series being over in 5 looks sound right now. Sadly for him, he backed the wrong horse.

It's hard to believe that he was last year's COTY after examining this series. The guy hasn't made a single adjustment yet. I don't know who it is that said it earlier in the thread, but his point that mediocre teams make bad decisions down the stretch applies to Phoenix. If Nash dribbles straight up the middle on either final Phoenix possession in the 4th or OT, this game ends with him making two FT's and going home with a chance to take a 3-2 lead. Instead, the "greatest leader in the game" and "the best point guard in the NBA" led his team to defeat by making a bush league move twice (trapping himself along the midcourt line AND sideline) in approximately 5:05 game time.

Do you actually watch basketball? There are only 3 refs. One was under the Suns hoop, where he's supposed to be. The second guy is on the far side of the court by the scorer's table where he's supposed to be. The third guy is trailing the play, as he should be, and was the one in question. Obviously the trail official will be behind the play. The other two guys are not going to make a call that's 40 something feet away from them, especially when Odom is shielding the guy under the hoop, and Walton's blocking the far side guy's line of sight. That's like asking the 3rd base ump to call a play down the right field line simply because he's an ump.

Dude, you're a fucking moron. Watch TNT's footage from the rear camera angle aka the ref's line of sight. Walton swipes at the air twice, and brushes Nash's arm as he then ties up the ball. Odom's hands are nowhere to be seen on Nash's body, or the ball for that matter. If Steve hadn't ducked his head to the floor to call timeout, or dribbled into the same corner making the same critical mistake twice in one game he wouldn't have coughed up the victory twice. Having said that, he would have gotten the call in Phoenix, and Kobe would have gotten a foul called if he had the ball in that same situation on that court.

If you see the play from behind NO ONE TOUCHED NASH.

Even still Kobe did hit two high pressure shots inside of a second left on the clock in regulation & OT AND the Suns choked up a 5 point lead inside of 10 seconds. Nash got facialed by a Smush three and then fell to the ground when Smush ripped him. If he would have just stood still Parker would have fouled him, but he tried to make a move and fumbled the ball. Phoenix deserved the victory, but they made some bad, bad plays in addition to getting bent over and taking it anally with no lube by the refs.

This is only the second game the refs have clearly decided the outcome of this postseason (the LeBron shuffle being the other). I'm sure David Stern will tell you that the zebras are doing a great job because they haven't blown all of the other games. I think the bald ref was mad because a Suns player whipped the ball at his face after Nash hit the three with about 45-50 seconds left. They need to get rid of all of the 50+ year olds who have "experience", because they are almost unanimously terrible at their jobs and have been for years.

Nash did get fouled, but to be fair he all but tossed Vujacic to the ground on the inbound. I'm sure you'll see the end sequence a few hundred times tonight and see the two fouls.

    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

Yes, if Kobe gets the continuation and hits the free throw you lose. If Walton is called for the foul and Jones makes one of 2, the Lakers lose. The way it turned out the game doesn't end on a touchy foul, and is thus even.

    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

Absolutely. Nash didn't complain at all, and you know he would have. If anything Bell or Diaw (not sure which it was honestly) could have been called for a body bump on Kobe on that play. Walton got away with one on the lob, so it evened out in the end.

The Suns deserved to win this game, but what the fuck were the Lakers doing in the last 30 seconds or so? When you're down 4 and the clock is off why are you going for a steal? The fact Thomas got a look at a 3 when they were down 1 was also inexcusable. The Lakers need to win Game 5 or they won't have a chance to win the series.

If Chandler plays the next game, that was a ridiculous amount of time he spent on the floor writhing in pain. It looks like both # 2 seeds might just get KO'd in the first round at this rate.

I think it's almost safe to say that the Nuggets have all but quit on this season. Kenyon will be a Knick next year since Isiah's the only idiot who will take on his contract, so don't worry about that headache anymore. Although I think Denver has now reached the point of being a perennial "solid 5/6 seed" by wins, they just have no heart whatsoever.

    The 2006 NFL Draft Thread

I was talking about next year basically, even though Leinart will definitely get some P.T. when Warner gets hurt. Young, Cutler and Clemens likely won't play at all. By next year, the Cards will know to draft/sign offensive line help and that should guarantee him more success than the other QBs in this year's draft, at least in the short term.

    The 2006 NFL Draft Thread

Why would you guys want a left handed Joey Harrington? Leinart is not tough enough to play in the NFC Central. He is in the ideal system to compensate for his weaknesses, anywhere else and he would have been as big of a bust as Williams and Young are going to be. I think in a couple of years the Jets will have ended up with the most talented QB in the draft, and the best draft class of 2006 as much as that pains me to say it.

The Bucks are putting it on the Pistons tonight. It's too bad that they'll likely end up losing the next two games by double figures, and the margin of victory tonight will be all Milwaukee fans can cling to until next season.

TWIB #4: now to the end of the month

How many fucking games is Wright going to lose us in the 9th playing "defense"? Wagner got the job done thankfully, and no matter what we leave Atlanta with at least a 6 game lead. I hope we bury these guys tomorrow.

Glavine's involved in another pitcher's duel with the Braves. It's 1-0 Mets heading to the 9th though they've left 8 men on and should have been able to scratch across at least an extra run or two.
