    This week in the NBA

Would it really surprise you to see the Knicks take back a fat contract for a wounded duck of a player for no apparent reason? Well, when they can't sign free agents due to the cap situation that's about the only way they can add players. Isiah has been justifying his additions of expiring contracts with this logic since day 1, I remember Mike Francesa ripping him on this approach last year, but Thomas is right. They can't rebuild proper, this is the next best thing. Well, I wouldn't object if they made trades for people who can add something to the team's future. Taking contracts solely to move players you don't like just doesn't work for me. I mean, why in the hell is Q on the team. A 3 point gunner who plays no 'D' and has no other skills shouldn't be on a "Larry Brown" team. The fact he was due $37.7 million over 5 years pretty much makes this one of the worst trades of the year.

No, you've pretty much described the intelligent Knicks fan who realizes that there's nothing to look forward to until about 2010 or 2011 at the earliest.

    This week in the NBA

I'd say 50% of the Knicks fanbase realize Larry was a fraud. He's supposedly a "teacher" yet he pulls the young guys after big games and lets stiffs like Malik Rose get playing time. A lot of people are expecting him to quit sometime between now and the end of the season. I know you're not SUPPOSED to do this, but I was hoping one of the Knicks would have clipped Kobe at the knees last night since there was no reason for him to be in the game in the 4th quarter except to pad his stats. I would have loved to see Phil Jackson try to explain why his franchise player suffered a season ending injury when the Lakers were up 30 in a meaningless game, but they got away with it.
  5. Hey, Jerry Maguire is current. . . by WWE standards.
  6. I think we have the plot for the next WWE Films production. Will Rey utter the phrase "you complete me"? Because if not, the movie would suck.
  7. If Rey wins the title will it count as Eddie's 2nd run as a WWE World champion since Eddie picked Rey's number, helped him win the Rumble and would want Rey to suceed?

    Save Wrestlemania

So you want to further destroy the credibility of the tag titles by having two guys come in from off of the street, and beat the unbeatable champs who have ruined every team on RAW since they won the belts. Do you work for the WWE?

UFC 57: Couture vs Liddell III

What I'm getting at is that Randy lost his focus and went for a KO because he was a bit angry about the eye poke. He said that himself on the UFC thing the other night. As a result he abandoned his gameplan and paid for it by getting KTFO'd. Randleman's suplex was far more damaging than a thumb to the eye but Fedor kept his cool and made him tap almost in the same length of time that Couture ended up wondering who he was and why the lights were shining in his eyes. I just think it's kind of sad that I've yet to hear a Randy fan accept that he got knocked out moreso because of bad strategy than catching a bad break. At least with the Vitor eye incident it was a fluke thing and everyone could see that, although even then some conspiracy theorists suggested that Belfort knew he could cut Randy with his glove seams. If that was the case Vitor should have been unbeatable.

UFC 57: Couture vs Liddell III

I hope Chuck puts the stamp on Randy and gives him an even more brutal KO just so we don't have to hear about the eye poke anymore. If Fedor can get dumped on his head and still submit Randleman 20 seconds later, Randy should be able to not lose his mind and start swinging for the fences because he got a finger in the eye.

By that logic Tracy McGrady is the MVP since Houston is actually something like 0-13 without him. I think every other team in the league could win ONE game out of 13 without their star, but not the Rockets. Is it time to call Yao a bit of a bust? He's no Darko or Olowokandi, but I don't think Houston was counting on a 7'5 role player.

    Tennis thread - February.

Hingis really struggled in her first match in Tokyo 6-0, 6-0 in 33 minutes against the 60th ranked player in the world. If she beats Dechy in her next match, she'll already be back in the top 100. Robby Ginepri has really carried the momentum from making the US Open Semis into the new year as he is now 1-3 after losing to a no name at Delray Beach. The future of US men's tennis is bright baby.
  13. By that logic, Chavo and Benoit never deserve any push, Malenko deserves to be homeless, Trips & Steph deserve a stillborn fetus, and Eddie deserved to die for the dominic angle. But Orton's ok to talk shit, cuz him and Eddie weren't friends. Uh no. Rey brought his actual son into an angle that confused him, cried like a baby because Eddie meant so much to him and has basically made his character solely about a dead man for the last 2-3 months. I guess if Rey wasn't 5'3 and the lifelong underdog people wouldn't feel sorry for him, but the fact is the shit he's been doing for the last year makes HHH look like a saint. Chavo is his actual nephew and Benoit would deserve a beatdown too if he was calling upon the power of Eddie in his matches months after he died. A one match tribute is adequate. Incorporating a move into your moveset is fine, but becoming Rey Mysterio Guerrero the vessel for Eddie's soul is bullshit.
  14. Maybe it's just me but I don't think Orton would have a problem doing anything they ask because he knows he can't go anywhere, and probably realizes it's WWE or bust. It's the guys like Rey, Chavo & Benoit that I'm slowly losing respect for. All three have been in the business for a while, were THISclose with Eddie and still suck Vince's dick for a paycheck. All three could easily work elsewhere, and I guess the only thing stopping them from quitting is fear that they could end up getting Brock'd. Then again, if Lesnar wins his judgment that might be the first major thing that causes a backlash. If Benoit re-signed recently and starts whining about Eddie being exploited someone should kindly tell him to shut the fuck up because I'm sure TNA & Japan would have paid him a similar rate with less dates, and wouldn't push him as a midcarder either.

    This week in the NBA

Knicks fans won't get mad about losses anymore except when they realize that about 60 of them this season is only going to give the Bulls a nice pick next year. Then again considering that most Knicks fans can't afford Knicks tickets, the suits who go to the Garden likely won't care as long as they can namedrop who they saw the next day at the office. I really don't see the MVP love for the best player on the league's 10th best team, but that's just me. Having said that, I'd prefer to see Kobe get it than LeBron because then the fellatio for the league's only "all time great" never to make the playoffs would just be too much for me to deal with.
  16. That's exactly why I think Rey does NOT deserve the title shot. He went the bitch route and should end up getting dicked over for it. He ruined his kid's life, pissed away his friendship for a few extra bucks and doesn't deserve anything but my contempt.

    Tennis thread - February.

Agassi could easily win the Delray Beach tournament this week, and that's about the only tourney I could see him winning this year. I hope Sharapova loses in Tokyo this week but the only player I could see even challenging her is Hingis. Just looking at the WTA schedule I wonder if ESPN will be showing any of the Dubai Duty Free Open considering how many times they ran commercials pimping the Dubai Duty Free shop during the WTA Championships a couple of months ago. I guess they wanted to show the Williams sisters in some way considering neither was able to qualify for the event.

    Huge News

I can see both sides of the argument, but if they can generate more interest during the week I think that under those circumstances they're more suited to a 2 hour run than just by having good ratings on Saturday night, and during the replay. Being able to get a 1.1 for instance on a loaded Thursday night at 8 looks a lot better than registering a 1.1 on Saturday at 11.

    On old people in restaurants...

Where you from? The cigarette I would be able to resale to one of the other under 18 cools for at least a buck. You do know that if servers were paid say $8/hr by the company, hardly any restaurant would be able to stay in buisness let alone actually turn a profit. 99% of restaurants have a very small profit margin. Inept management shouldn't fall on the backs of the customers who have to deal with horrible wait staff in most cases. In my opinion, 90% of the time it's the shitty waiters who complain about getting bad tips.

    Sting = Ratings

.2 by itself isn't a big deal, but if that .2 is on top of .9 as a baseline, it is a pretty big difference. If any show had about a 20% ratings boost over their best effort to date they'd hype that as "shattering" too.

Smackdown Spoilers for the Febuary 3rd Show

I'm not blaming anyone for the character or his actions, I just think people being shocked that he would say "Eddie's in hell" is kind of silly considering that's perfectly within the range of a heel trying to get under Rey's skin. I hope that clears it up.

Smackdown Spoilers for the Febuary 3rd Show

Wait ... are you saying that Randy, as an on-screen character, is the kind of performer that the writers would write that as an angle for? I don't really get why you're slamming Orton for that ... you should be slamming the writers that came up with the ingenious notion of using Eddie's death repeatedly. I'm saying that the Orton character has no semblance of being tasteful. It's well within his "limits" to go urinate on Eddie's "grave" in an angle. The only other person who could be on that level is HHH, but he's more harmful to his opponents during his matches while Orton only gets over by saying or doing stupid things since they never let him actually get big wins.

Smackdown Spoilers for the Febuary 3rd Show

Orton would be the kind of guy I'd expect to see go to Eddie's "grave" and take a leak on it as an angle, so this is pretty tame from him.
