Delgado just hit his 2nd HR of the game, a monster GRAND SLAM for # 400 in his career. Awesome. Too bad we're still losing by 2 and Pujols will likely get two more chances to hit.
I'm glad I didn't go to the Mets game tonight, or I'd be hopping on the 7 train right now to come back home. I hope Phat Albert gets drilled in the ass/leg/non vital area in his next at bat. We don't need him flexing for the next 2 1/2 games.
Pujols just launched a 3 run missile to deep right. John Maine had retired 9 in a row before this inning. 5 pitches and 3 runs later the Mets trail 3-1. Bleh.
Francona's making Tony LaRussa look like he underuses his bullpen here. Papelbon will get rocked but have to finish the game, the Yankees will win this game by 2 and complete the sweep tomorrow because he can't pitch the 9th. Awesome stuff by the Sawx' skipper.
It's a four day series. If The Big Eunuch can eat up 7 innings, the Yankees bullpen won't be taxed today and they'll be fine during Mussina's start. The 'pen will be rested for Monday and they can finish Boston off in one fell swoop.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. It'll be a moral victory if the Sawx "hold" the Yankees to 8 runs today. If the Yanks win this one, I'm predicting a 5 game sweep and a sea of tears in Boston as they'll be done for 2006.
Was that a Yanks/Orioles game by any chance? I distinctly remember those two teams playing deep into the night on a regular basis back in the days when Baltimore fancied themselves contenders.
Soriano's hit the 30/30 mark again, and should finally be able to get to 40/40 as I predicted earlier this year. The Phillies have all but wasted the momentum of the 3 straight over the Mets, and that's OK by me.
