Gah, fucking room... who would've known that with 50 songs, I'd STILL have to leave about 10 really deserving bands off of the list? Anyhow, I do sort of want to make room for Elton John... ...*sigh* Lesse, I can take out Gang of Four, the Police, or the English Beat. Choose, people. I'm not a huge Police fan, and I've heard nothing from the English Beat (but I heard they were terrible influential and whatnot), so it's not really a decision that I'm educated enough to make. ....Hrm, maybe I should just ante up the track list one last time, to like "54 Reasons To Love British Rock" or something... I dunno. Geh, this is really hurting my head.

Out of those two, which would you say captured the band's overall sound the best? I always liked "Hymn to Her" just a little bit more... but they're both great, as well as just about everything else the Pretenders ever did. EDIT: Alright, now I need a second Pink Floyd track on the album to compliment "Comfortably Numb," showing how their sound changed. I probably want something off of their first album then... I was thinking "Astronomy Domine" or "The Scarecrow"... anyone got any suggestions? Another Edit, So I Don't Have To Keep Making New Posts: Only four more queries, and then I'll be done. 1. "Astronomy Domine" or "The Scarecrow" to represent the Syd Barret line-up of Pink Floyd, circa Piper at the Gates of Dawn? 2. Which English Beat song to use? 3. Which Animals song to use? 4. Gang of Four? Incandenza, you convinced me to use them, so I'm talking to you here. And finally... 5. For Radiohead, “Exit Music (For a Film)”or “Fake Plastic Trees”? I know the latter is their early hit and whatnot, but Computer OK is their best album methinks... eh, I'm kind of torn. Anyhow, once I get these five answered, I think I'll be set. Thanks again to anybody who helped out.

Kind of overloading now... only so much room on 2 disks, and I'm getting WAY more feedback than I thought I would. Just shows how great Brit music was. Anyhow Frost... if you were to pick just 2 of those, seeing as that's about as much room as I have, which would they be? Idol and the Police would probably be the most obvious choices, but eh, I usually stay away from all that is Sting.

For the Pretenders, I was torn between going with "Brass In Pocket," "Back on the Chain Gang," or a good non-hit. Right now, I think it's "Back on the Chain Gang," but that could be a little bit too obvious... hrmph, any Pretenders song that's less recognized but still blows the listener away that you've got in mind?

Those weren't all of the bands, just the ones I didn't already have songs for. The bands included are: Madness The Jam The Clash The Kinks Joy Division Sex Pistols Led Zeppelin The Who Jesus and Mary Chain Elvis Costello David Bowie Siouxsie and the Banshees Radiohead Rolling Stones Animals Yardbirds Cream Pink Floyd Black Sabbath Deep Purple Queen Duran Duran British Beat The Pretenders The Smiths The Cure Iron Maiden Wire Buzzcocks Big Audio Dynamite Black Dog Lo Fidelity All-Stars The Darkness The Beatles XTC The Faces Creation Though not in that order. Due to my 40 song limit (and the Clash getting 2 songs, Zeppelin 3, and the Beatles 2)... I did indeed have to cut out a few bands (Thin Lizzie and the Damned, amongst others)... but eh, I'd say I cover most of the British spectrum. EDIT: Eh, I could just raise it to 45 tracks on 3 disks, or 50... I'm not sure, I think my friend's got this CD burner that burns DVD-sized CD's or something that could fit 25 songs onto each CD.
-
Hit another hump... only 40 songs on the CD, and I've got 41. So, one has to go... The Faces' "Bad 'N' Ruin" or Creation's "Making Time." Let the voting commence.
-
Those're all on there... Def Leppard is not. Ew.
-
He basically summed up my picks, especially "Heroin." "Sister Ray" by the VU too, and "Acrobat" by U2... hrm, "Gigantic" and "Tony's Theme" by the Pixies... and most of the White Album, Sgt. Pepper's, and Revolver.

...Eh, smashing bottles of milk into someone's eyes makes a loud cracking/shattering noise. A chain would make a sort of heavy thud. I guess the milk works better visually, for the movie. ...Just a guess, as I can't really think of any other logical reason.

Streetcore is a good album. It's not as good as Global a Go-Go, but it's still great. His death didn't help it out, as his guitarists had to finish the musical parts, but I haven't really read any reviews praising the album or calling it the best ever. The reviews I've read call it the 3rd best Mescalaros album. I think it's the 2nd best, but I'm no critic, what do I know? And no, The Clash aren't overrated. Eh, they're my fourth favorite band of all time, but still, some people might see them as being so. Anyhow, Streetcore is awesome, but allmusic.com gives it five out of five stars, compared to all of his other solo stuff being about... three, so that's what I was judging off of. Meh.

"London Calling's" been on just about everyone's top 30 list in the music industry since... like, 1990, dude. Joe Strummer's death may have made people give him more credit than he deserved for that last album of his, but London Calling and the self-titled album have been favorites since their release. Perhaps they ARE overrated to some, but in this case, it's not a "they only like that 'cuz the one guy's dead" thing. EDIT: Right, Edwin beat me to it. Fucker. EDIT ONCE AGAIN: Is there anywhere that we can see individual artist's Top 50 lists? I'm interested in Beck's. Heh.

TCM. Micheal Myers is great n' all, but can he do the chainsaw dance? I thought not.

It was one of my favorite movies when I was NINE... ...Was I just a really smart kid, then?
-
Brilliant film. You should check out the book, as well as all of Stanley Kubrick's other movies.
-
Eh, I'd spend about ten on it, considering that I've got dough to spend and the whole ego factor... BEFORE: "Hey, you got every Velvet Underground album?" "Oooooh yeah." "Even Squeeze??" "...Uhm, what?" "You are a loser." AFTER: "Hey, you got every Velvet Underground album?" "Oooooh yeah." "Even Squeeze??" "oooooh yeah." "You're the coolest guy ever! OhmyGod can I touch you!?" ....So maybe that wouldn't happen, but still. Anyhow, yeah, it IS pretty bad apparently... just Doug Yule and some other nameless people... it was even removed from the official VU disography. ... I MUST have it!

So I'm usually a terrible recourseful guy and whatnot, but in my quest for broadening my CD collection, there have been two CD's which I can absolutely NOT find. Not much to get into, just a simple "do you have any idea where the hell I can find these...? question... anyhow, the CD's are... The Velvet Underground -- Squeeze :: I know I know, it's known as being an absolutely TERRIBLE album, but teh VU are my second or third favorite band out there, so I figured that if I could find a copy, I might as well complete my Velvet Underground collection. Apparently it was so horrible that they stopped printing the album and they've become pretty rare... but were any CD-versions ever even pressed? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer was no, because I really have not been able to find this ANYWHERE. Anyhow, if I can't get my hands on it for a decent price, it's no biggie, seeing as how it's apparently terrible and everything. Half Japanese -- 1/2 Man/Not Beasts :: The band's famed epic, 3-disk debut album... just seemed like an awesome concept and album to me, but it's not on amazon (not in stock anyhow) and not even on ebay. Any clue where I could get a copy? For the debut of such a cult band, I'm surprised that it's so rare. There's got to be one at a decent prince (it can go rather high actually... I really want it and it IS three disks) somewhere out there. Anyone think they can help me out? Danke greatly to anyone that bothers to give me a hand... er, an online hand, but still a hand nonetheless.

(Y) @ handcuffs.

That's actually the first site that I tried, and it's REALLY fucking swank (aside from the lack of color options) but it forces you to print like 6 t-shirts each time you make one. That's what I was talking about with the "assuming that you want about 30 shirts for an organization" thing and whatnot... I mean, I love the Pixies and everything, but I really just don't want six Pixies shirts, especially if their the exact same one.
-
Had no idea where to put this topic, but since it's sort of an internet site suggestion question, I figured that this was as good a place as any. Anyhow, pretty simple query... I pretty much want to design my own shirts using pictures from the internet and whatnot (such a dorky thing to do, I know, but shut the fuck up)... and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good site where I could do this, that wouldn't make me buy like nine shirts or something thinking that I needed mass-production or something. Not sure who the hell would know this, but eh, no bad can come out of it, so if you can help me, please do.

omgz, last two matches on card = so punk rock. -
Hrm... someone down in the SWF (that little e-fed at the bottom of the boards) used that site to sell stuff once... does it work to just basically create material, and then sell it to yourself? Either way, thanks.

Totally understand what you're trying to say. I thought exactly the same thing.

You misspelled "brief." ...and you call yourself a booker. -
Just found out about Joy Division -- have "Substance" and "Closer." They're a bit broody, but they really grow on you. Aside from that, there are a number of bands that I'd heard of extensively before, but am just now getting around to REALLY getting into... I'm finally going past "Zen Arcade" as far as Husker Du goes, and I've finally got myself a Jefferson Airplane album. Also, my new friend's band "Run Audio Run," as young and rookie-like they are, kicks ass. Oh, and yes, I'm finally breaking down the "All-non-Beastie-Boys-hip-hop MUST die!" barrier and getting into Outkast. Sue me.
