"someone who thinks some brief nearly non-existent connection with some great legend practically makes them a great legend too." Apparently that's it... where I live I was always taught that it meant "assfucker," but... well, both are insults. So fuck you too, Inc. EDIT: I'm obviously not up to date with my Nine Inch Nails terminology.

For the not liking the Futureheads part, or for the hanging out with Ian McKaye and you NOT hanging out with Ian McKaye part?
-
By coincidence, this is EXACTLY what I've been listening to, minus the Low and plus Let Love In. Oddly, I'm hanging out with Ian McKaye, Blonde Redhead, and the drummer from Dismemberment Plan in a few weeks. ...Weird crowd. EDIT: And for the record, I'm dissapointed with the Futureheads. They're decent. ...I guess.

So I've never been a Paul McCartney fan, at all, but that SuperBowl performance was intense, especially considering his age. Oh, and Suicide is playing at the ATP Festival in Europe this year, along with Olivia Tremor Control and Slint. I want to be there.

I've got a six-disc bootleg set with every episode, the pilot, and the Is It College Yet? movie that closed the series. Plus I've got the Is It Fall Yet? movie on VHS from when I taped it while it originally aired. So... yes, I am set. Thank God for ebay.

Indeed. Irking is one thing. Deciding whether or not I like an album is another.

By the way, who in their right mind would still want to see The Prodigy at this point?

Good line-up here, but I could see all of these bands in much more favorable weather conditions for less money. The only three bands that I'll truly regret missing are Bauhaus, Gang of Four, and Fantomas. ...I didn't even know the Bauhaus were still alive, much less together. Anyway, if they get Talking Heads to get back together and replace Coldplay, then they'll convince me to go. Otherwise, there's no way that this is nearly as good as the Pixies/Radiohead/Kraftwerk/Beck/Cure/FlamingLips/BelleandSebastian/etc. line-up they had going last year.

Isn't this guy trying to get STARTED on the Cure?

I've never encountered one of these. Speaking of Joy Divison... people who don't like music because it's got "crappy 80's drum production" on it. My friend refuses to like Disintegration because of this. Hell, some of Floyd's best albums had some pretty lame drum production. It doesn't matter as long as the music's good.

Well dude if you don't like Exile then you don't like rock.
-
Well, I like your ending, at any rate. How many people total showed, by the way?
-
First albums bought in quite some time (a week.) Yey at listening.

I'm guilty of this one myself: People who like an obscure band, then get bitter when they're not obscure anymore. Pretty much everyone is protective over at least one band that they like that not too many other people do, but nonetheless, it's annoying. "I loved Modest Mouse but now all these kids like 'Float On'! POSEURS!"

HEY! And that 15000 word limit is so, so ghey. Logical, and less work for me, but ghey nonetheless. -
Buy Disintegration and The Singles. That'll start you off nicely and prep you for more. I've really wanted to buy that new deluxe edition of their first album, but it's so damn expensive at Tower. I just don't know what to do.

Your "band to watch in 2005"

You're senile. Though I haven't heard the album and therefore don't know what I'm talking about, but hey. EDIT: Oh, and I wonder what Prince is going to be up to this year. I hope we're not in store for some sort of half-decade wait for another album. -
Top Three Most Played Albums in Recent Weeks

I never really got The Stone Roses. I don't know. I guess it's not fair since I haven't given them a chance (I've got a "Best Of" disc and I've only listened to it maybe twice,) but nonetheless. For some reason I just had them absurdly hyped up in my head, and then when I heard them it just seemed like such a dud. Anyway... uhm, here we go. A lot of people don't like this. I don't know. A few experiments come off as really lame, and some tracks are completely unnecessary, but it's been on car-listen mode, so I've just been picking out the hits as opposed to the misses, and the hits HIT. Is there enough B-Side material to get a good Luxe and Reduxe version of this out? Because I want one. Now. Honestly just like the best band of all time. I mean, in reality they'd probably just make my top ten, but when I'm listening to them I'm converted into a man who thinks nothing but Talking Heads. Anyway... I've got their first six albums and two live ones, and have heard True Stories... but this is the one that I never really could get into. But now I have, and in a very, very big way. Virtually every song is overflowing with intensity, and this is really where the original nervy and weird Talking Heads sound finally made the transition into the polyrhythmic African stuff and downright pop of the later albums. Not their best album, but it's great to observe this synthesis of early and late Talking Heads. Harmless and sweet folk music, with catchy diddy after catchy diddy. The lyrics are considered stupid by many, but aside from a few instances I think their child-like nature only helps the overall nature of the album. I've hung out with Kimya in the past and she's a way cool gal, and I like her solo albums more than most of the Moldy Peaches stuff. I guess I could get criticized as not many people like this, but whatever -- it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and that's its goal, so it's successful in what it's trying to do, at least. -
I only asked if it was a gimmick poster because of the use of the word "underrated." Kids will not SHUT UP about the Misfits, and they're probably up there with Zeppelin, Marley and Nirvana as the most overrated (especially by highschoolers) bands of all time. Of course, that's not to say that I don't like all of these artists, but nonetheless, the Misfits logo is everywhere, and they get more than enough exposure and "props" for their influence on current "punk" bands. Hell, I saw not one but two kids wearing Misfits shirts today, and the day's only half over. Anyway, yes... there's probably about 2 good songs post-Danzig... about three good solo Danzig songs (for the most part he're terrible, and I sort of just hate Danzig as a human)... and as for the band in their prime, I'd say there's an essential album for all punk fans, but aside from that, it just really depends how crazy you are about them. There are a bundle of classic songs in there, but for the most part, I've always found them a little lacking in the area of listening to more than three songs in a row. I have always sort of kind of wanted to pick up that giant coffin-shaped box set though. Simply because it's shaped like a coffin.

I can't tell. Is this a gimmick poster, or what?

No idea what this is. Help the naive.

Second My Bloody Valentine, most recent Mogwai, and first Tim Buckley. Yummmmmmmm.
