Bonds, steroids, you know the drill

That collective barganing agreement is from 2003. If you read some of the excerpts, most of the information contends Bonds significant usage periods were from 1998-2001, and don't even mention him using past 2003. I would hedge my bets that he stopped using as soon as it was prohibited. And by the way, I 100% feel he used lots of illegal substances, and it's a disgusting and immoral thing to do...but I don't see how people can go batshit crazy on him, and give a free pass to the 60 years before him of pro baseball players popping amphetamines like candy. Why is that not cared about...it seems grossly ignorant to me.

You don't think it's possible to do enhancement surgery? Do you understand how much research there is on human muscle and skeletal structure, how much MONEY is in sports and thereby sports-medicine You don't think pitchers are going to start getting tommy john surgery BEFORE they get injured? There's some call fo rit, because the tendon from your leg they transfer, is stronger than the one that's naturally there in your arm in most people. Imagine an even stronger and more durable synthetic tendon being placed in there. Do we start performing arthtroscopic surgery to test for that. What about internally implanted hormone production systems that can be explained away as the body just producing a naturally high amount of HGH, or other substances we cannot detect. Basketball doesn't even test for the substances cycling does that improve the amount of oxygen your blood cells can distribute, you don't think a basketball player that can play full speed for 48 minutes would have a HUGE advantage...or a football player? What if they find a surgical/permanent way to improve that through genetic treatment. The possibilities are endless and very real, to think otherwise is a gross lack of knowledge of the medical sciences. I may not be a doctor or a biologist, but I am familiar with the treatments and procedures out there, and have enough knowledge to know what IS physically possible within the body NOW...not even mentioning what new techniques could be developed by the right people.

Baseball can't and shouldn't do a damned thing. Performance enhancing substances were not illegal in baseball when barry bonds or -anyone- else was using them, so why would you punish someone now for something that was permitted. Say they made drinking alcohol illegal again, and they found out you did it yesterday, and went to arrest you because you did something that's illegal now, in the past. i find it ridiculous that people even entertain the idea that he should be punished. all your favorite players for the last 70-80 years have been taking amphetamines when they needed a boost, and there's no way to determine just how many/exactly who, so why not assume they all were and totally reset the record books, period. But not really, because they were part of the game. What about stuff like tommy john surgery, in a way that's bio-modification, you're moving tendons around. Why doesn't someone get 3 or 4 tendons moved into their arm, or have their muscles/skeleton redsigned so they can pitch 99 mph as much as they want with no wear. It's not illegal or against the rules, and who knows how soon it may happen...but it will, and that's even harder to police.

It's all about pitching, and we're the only country with quality depth at pitching, especially in the bullpen. That will be important.

    78th Academy Awards

I've decided that Lion's Gate releases the best movies. I've not seen a bad movie they've distributed. Even their bad movies, having something good about them

    78th Academy Awards

They'll give the best actress award to Judi Dench, considering there's no clear-cut favorite and she's got the most experience and isn't going to be doing too many more feature roles.

    World Baseball Classic

Korea got the win. That second Japan-Korea game is gonna be friggin tense. You know what would be sad/make me laugh at the same time: USA goes into the 2nd round, then loses to both of them.

    UFC 58: Canada vs USA

He ran a lot in the 2nd and 3rd round I'm not sure why, because if he'd pressured more he could have won that fight. It was odd as hell, he should have just thrown that high kick all night, rich franklin's arm might have snapped in half. Good fight, but weird tactics by the crow

    This week in the NBA

I would agree that in crunch-time Allen is probably a little more able to create his own space for a shot. I'm just such a fan of what Milwaukee has done with their team, I really like all the individual players they have and am really impressed with how they're working together. If anyone is going to become an excellent team following the pistons model of success, it's going to be Milwaukee assuming an appropriate level of development they have all the pieces to create a very dynamic -team- of basketball players.

You really would rather have Allen than Redd on your team? I watched every seattle playoff game last season...and Ray Allen is a defensive liability. Redd is a much stronger player physically, and while not an all-pro defender, is certainly significantly better than Allen. Allen may have the 'smoother' shot, but I feel that Redd is much more proficient in making his teammates better and working within the framework of an offense. I just never liked the way Ray Allen has played the game, he doesn't really make anyone better, he runs up and down the floor and hits some shots, but he's never really done anything to garner all this praise. Redd and Allen have identical 3 point percentages, very similar rebounding and assists numbers... Allen's turned the ball over a little bit more. Statistically they're almost identical players, and taking that into account I'd have to take Redd over Allen every time.

    This week in the NBA

I really didn't understand Atlanta taking Marvin Williams. Bogut OR Paul would have been more of a difference maker. Bogut + Pachulia with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith/Childress would have been a great foundation and they could have gotten a point guard later....or get Chris Paul and been good now (With a little less size)...but there was no real reason to take Williams (I personally don't buy him as a superstar, he looked way too passive of a player at North Carolina...Rudy Gay is going to turn out the same way I feel, they have all this long athletic talent, but they don't seem to be consistent nor do they ever make the BIG play.) That's an interesting point about Sloan, and it's possible. But if they stick with Deron Williams next year, and he can grow and adapt to the style...it might pay dividends. Yet, I think Sloan is also responsible for how tough Kirilenko is, and how Okur has improved. In the last year Okur has become a much more aggressive defensive player/rebounder than when he was in Detroit. But Sloan is really brutal on rookies (Kirk Snyder, Kris Humphries, Deron Williams)...but I think unlike Larry Bornw he doesn't dislike them, he just expects so much out of them, and if they can prove it to him I don't doubt they'd get playing time.

    This week in the NBA

Very possible. I kinda think he'd like being in Utah more anyhow. I mean...look what he's done to david west's career, he's even helped Kirk Snyder look good. Paul could probably be an MVP candidate THIS year with people like Harpring, Okur, and Kirilenko around him. But I disagree on the haunt the franchise...Utah has enough pieces and a smart management that they can be a successful club even after making a mistake. Deron Williams still might be a decent player (I really don't know what his problem was/is this year to actually look worse than he did in college)...and there are always more point guards in the draft. I think Kirilenko/Okur are more irreplacable than Paul would be...I worry that NO-OKC is going to struggle getting anywhere unless they can find a solid big man.

    This week in the NBA

Hahahaha. That's true. That's really the only thing holding Utah back. Poor defense/leadership from the point guard position. Okur's been rebounding insanely well this year, and has such a great variety of ways to score, AK47 is the best defensive player in the league (His arms are inspector gadget-esque) it's just Mcleod and Deron Williams and Palacio are...well just not even all 3 combined what Chris Paul could do for that team.

    This week in the NBA

I wonder if Jerry Sloan is getting tired with all his failed point guards ever since Stockton left. Utah has Okur and Kirilenko...if only they'd had Chris Paul instead of Deron Williams, they'd be a dangerous team. Ray Allen is the most overrated player in the nba, there's no way he's anywhere near the player that Michael Redd is, but he gets about twice the credit and twice the publicity. Milwaukee is looking really good, and they have some clutch ability. If Magloire and Bogut can get some sort of rest near the end of the season and turn it up for the playoffs, they can be a force. They're going to be twice as good next year with some more seasoning. T.J. Ford, michael Redd, Bobby Simmons, Magloire/Joe Smith (One of those guys is getting traded) and a 2nd-year bogut with some improved conditioning and strength. An actual contender imho.

    This week in the NBA

Penny = HUGE expiring contract. Francis = Huge multiple year contract And currently the rumors indicate the magic may get Lee or Robinson not necessarily Ariza... In general, this deal helps the magic a lot...and while it brings the knicks more raw talent (no question that Steve Francis is a talented player)...it just continues the cycle of them dumping expiring contracts for larger ones, and if I were a fan I'd be getting sick of it at some point.
