So which satire site is this from?

50-60 year old black heavyset good-natured mother is a stereotype. Remember, many stereotypes are based on actual real trends (Many black women tend to put on considerable weight particularly after childbirth (as is the case with most women though often more exaggerated in black women)), and are not fiction. But that doesn't mean you have to PANDER to the stereotypes when you could break the mold and create actual drama/ a surprise outcome. And for the record I find Donovan McNabb's mother to be very charismatic And I like most of the older black women that come into my workplace that fit the stereotype...but that doesn't mean you have to follow it.

Dontrelle Willis next year goes 4-6 with a 1.90 era? Or can he win even 4 games with Miguel Cabrera + prospects...

Hulk was very average. Daredevil was terrible, mostly because of Jennifer "Man-faced terrible actress" Garner. Hence why Electra was even worse, it was ALL her.
-
Rudo for teh win with 'good ole days' Does that include those same good ole days when black people had to sit in the back of the bus too? ;P Instead of the bus, all the black athletes have to come out first for the royal rumble, eh?
-
Too bad those 2 of 3 movies pretty much were craptastic in the extreme and Hulk was an average at best sort of movie with ok action scenes.

50-60 Shelton Benjamin's Mama - 50's, Black, heavy set From the casting call. It's a -guarentee- it's a racist stereotype. That's what they want.

You don't even have to like Shelton one bit to realize he's the most misused wrestler in the WWE. They've done everything wrong with him since the beginning of his IC title reign, they butchered that and it's been downhill since then. It's distressing to see how they can't even come up with a coherent and effective plan for one of their best athletes and most promising wrestlers as well. It just helps one understand just how terrible these writers they've been hiring are, they aren't -successful- hollywood writers, they're bit writers for two-bit shows or not even that. Their ideas are juvenile and pander to what they feel are the 'hot' themes of hollywood, but they even miss on those as they tend to be months too late and always miss their mark. The writers should be attempting to CREATE a new image/idea not stealing it from pop culture. You won't get NEW people interested in your product if you don't display a measure of creativity and original thinking. Steve austin brought in more mainstream and higher ratings because he was a NEW phenomenon, the way he brought to life everyone's inner anti-hero was in line with pop cultures trends...but not a direct rip. Hulk Hogan fed on the superhero-esque and comical overexaggerations of the mid-80's...but with his OWN spin, not a botched ripoff. These writers and their creative team that go with them and encourage them and 'enlighten them with ideas' are simply tremendous... Tremendously terrible.

Some Mod needs to change the Title of this thread to "Poor Shelton"

Get The Big Show with blue facepaint...I mean by the time Apoc is in an x-men movie the movies will all be terrible anyway (4th or 5th one) Might as well get someone really big to play the part, he was in that star trek episode

It's a good thing I don't read the Avengers anymore He was a Secret Defender though, with Dr. Strange and I didn't mind him then. The person who wrote The Secret Defenders wrote him well. He also wrote spider-man in a way that made me like him (and I hate spider-man too) ...damn that comic in general was just way well written. It's hard to get into Dr. Strange though, he's a bit of a different character. I also enjoyed the West Coast Avengers (some of the books, it could be hit or miss).

I don't know if I am saying what the original poster intended, but every talk I've heard in the past few years for an Iron Man movie has Tom Cruise as Iron Man. Tom Cruise was mentioned as being interested in the part (he likes the character of Tony Stark) But he was never actually connected to the movie. He'd be an ok tony stark though, not that terrible he is a good actor even with all his other faults (And he won't have to wear lifts to sit in a wheelchair or be cgi'd in an iron man suit) I feel Clive Owen would make an AWESOME Tony Stark. as for Iron Man being scrapped, it was de-licenesed from New Line( I think it was New Line) and Marvel is going to do it themselves with their new movie division. (Which was originally supposed to include the new Captain America movie, an Avengers movie, and some others (even potentially Dr. Strange, the 2nd greatest marvel character after Iron Man ) So it'll still happen, it's just a matter of when. And who directs it is of course gonna be the real issue. I might cry if they made a BAD iron man movie EDIT: Timberlake is unacceptable. Tom Selleck...I don't really know, I'd have to see him in the role.

Finals. DR and US can't meet till the finals. I almost feel it was intentionally set up that way. The 2-1 thing is true, for example Say Pool B (USA's pool) USA goes 2-1 (losing to Mexico) Canada goes 2-1 (losing to USA) Mexico goes 2-1 (losing to canada) and South Africa goes 0-3 (Losing to everyone) That's what -could- happen, (and more likely in the USA's pool where a team like south africa can easily get swept) I don't know how they have the tiebreakers set up.

I want to buy the ppv...but I just bought the last two, and it's really just not smart to buy them every month. They would be more significant if they were every other month + 2 extras (8 total)

Johan Santana + Pedro Martinez in a tournament style setup = all you need pitching wise. This isn't a season, you only need a 3-man rotation, and you only have to win 3/4 of the games to advance. Really. I too want to see some of the other foreign players, we could see some breakout Chinese Taiwan or South African players in this tournament. You just never know. The exposure will be awesome.

I find magneto more of a sympathetic character than Wolverine...Magneto just has justification for some of the things he does, while Wolverine is just...angry. Unfortunately most people do prefer the anti-hero, particularly when he rips people to shreds mercilessly (While every other x-man pretty much avoids hurting/killing anybody at all...) The problem is the REST of the x-men come off as TOO straitlaced (particularly in the movies) so everyone is immediately attracted to the one character that's different.
-
I really never caught on to the whole wolverine love...and that's probably why I never really was into the x-men...I've always been more of an Avengers fan, I find the characters to be a lot more interesting in both personality and in their powers. I want an Iron Man movie so bad.

The Dominican Republic is going to slaughter everyone, including the u.s.

Can we trade? i'd rather watch a competitive game between Milwaukee and Philadelphia (two teams contending for playoff spots basically) than watch the Spurs blow out the Heat. Plus I like the players on both Milwaukee (Redd, Bogut) and the 76ers (Igoudala) plus Iverson is exciting as hell. I wish I had the spare change to buy NBA league pass. Maybe when they do the half season discount for like 79 bucks i'll pick it up Although I'm really loving the two weekend games i get in HD on INHD every weekend. Especially since ESPN has chosen nto to broadcast any of their basketball games in HD yet (TNT's look friggin phenomenol however)

If you prefer arcadey games, NBA Street Vol. 3 is supposed to be excellent (NBA Jam: Acade is a great game too, but definitely dated graphically) College Hoops is a more balanced gameplay experience, especially 2k5 which is one of my favorite games period. The NBA game still suffers from some issues with it being too easy to block shots at times and defense not being as tight as it could be (Obviously you could fix those with sliders, but not something a first-timer to basketball games is going to want to do.) if you want players that you KNOW go with the NBA 2k6 you won't be disappointed, and the graphics are a little better as well. If you're just looking for the best gameplay/deep dynasty and franchise mode go with College Hoops (You could even pick up the 2k5 one for 3-6 bucks preowned and play that)
-
college hoops 2k6 is probably the best for pure gameplay. if you prefer nba rules, get NBA 2k6, but it's nowhere near as good. I actually really like College hoops 2k5 also, it's a pretty damn good game as well.

Larry Brown is an ass. I can't dispute that...but i have to dispute the olympic thing (Somewhat, the young players should still have been playing) The selection comittee did choose the wrong players. They had no shooters. No Michael Redd for the most significant snubb, hell I hate him but J.J. Redick could have helped them, or Kyle korver. In the international game you NEED spot-up shooters, it's just how the game is played, the drive to the basket game just doesn't work well. You also need strong defensive players who can get a hand in the face of the opposing spot-up shooters You have a team of tim Duncan, Elton Brand, LBJ, Michael Redd, Kyle Korver, J.J. redick, Dwyane Wayde, Amare Stoudemire, Larry Hughes, Gilbert Arenas, Brad Miller and Bruce bowen and then you win. All those guys would have gone to the olympics, and that's a team constructed to win. I absolutely hated the way they chose that team. It made me ill seeing how poorly designed it was. Just terrible. BUt Larry Brown still should have played the younger guys. Other than duncan none of the vets played worth a crap during the olympics.

Tony Jaa vs. Jet Li That's what I want to see.

I think his improvement also vindicates Steve Nash's mvp award last year. He's turned Boris Diaw into Joe Johnson

I'd mark out for that so hard. I already like shelton, but he'd become the greatest personality ever. I feel that thesmartmarks.com should immediately be given creative control over shelton so we can give him the T.O. Gimmick Push
