    Superbowl XLII

I do too...but you have to recognize one of the best defensive performances -EVER- by the Giants. I mean the way they controlled the Patriots this game was simple amazing. Some people are saying the first three quarters were bad, but to me as a fan of the X's and O's of football, they impressed and interested me the most.

    Superbowl XLII

Yea, that's who it shoulda gone to, but the NFL is way too QB centric/star centric to name the actual best player in the game.

    Yup Eli...stupid media.

    Superbowl XLII

I think the Giants totally shutting down the best offense ever is something to make it more than average. They had a special defensive performance in this game. Defense. Wins. Championships.

It should be Justin Tuck as the best statistical representative of the Giants' defense Knowing the media, it'll be Eli

    Superbowl XLII

I still can't believe the Game winning touchdown came on a fade to Plaxico Burress. If anything that's directly Belicheck's fault for calling that defensive scheme that left him in one on one coverage...you just can't make that mistake. I hope someone asks him about it at the press conference, because that was a terrible call.

    Superbowl XLII

Ankle He's always been immobile, just most teams can't get a middle rush on the pats because of their interior line play. Giants did, and he can't side step rushes up the middle, which is really his only scramble move.

Hierarchy of Worst Owners in Sports

How about the pirates? they do both! Owners are making profit hand over fist, but not putting anything into the team AND they let littlefield run rampant...I still feel the Matt Morris trade was made as a vengeance move knowing he was going to get fired soon...ridiculous.

Hierarchy of Worst Owners in Sports

It's funny, because I was just about to post this exact same thing in response as well. The two best new (And definitely best if you take nostalgia out) ballparks are within 4-5 hours of each other...and the worst two organizations in recent times play there (Barring kansas city and tampa...though tampa shouldn't even have a baseball team) It's gonna be more of the same for the pirates, that's for sure. new GM, same old shit.

    WWE suspends 10 wrestlers

I'd believe Cena isn't on roids... But i also believe that if he's on the extremely controlled diet you need to maximize muscle mass, he's going to end up having a heart attack or stroke or diabetes by the time he's 35 or 40. In a way, that kind of diet can be worse for you than just using HGH, because it's screwing up your whole body.
  12. My one observation. Mr. Benoit's life is now the very definition of a tragic story. His entire life was devoted to wrestling, to perfecting that craft. However, in one moment of lunacy he ruined every bit of hard work and dedication he put into that goal, as he will now never really be remembered and respected for that which he worked so hard. And in fact, it may be said that his very same dedication and zeal for that one goal, was what led him to be so unstable as to allow him to make such a terrible decision. Perhaps a measure of irony as well...bleak dark irony though it may be. Truly a tragic story. Not perhaps, sympathetic in the end, however. But it's a common flaw for us to misuse the idea of tragic stories with sympathetic/heartwrenching ones. Just my reflection on this whole situation. He was obviously a sick, sick man. One could make a conjecture that the loss of his one close friend really left him reaching. Unfortunately as is often the case, he may have needed quite a bit of help...but being a man perhaps hurt him the most. Not only would he have too much pride to ask for it...no one would think that a 'strong', 'dedicated', 'respected' male figure could be so fragile mentally. Clearly, no sympathy. What he did was terrible. Wrong by any standard, and without any justification. But not the actions of someone who did not believe they were wrong...just too sick and lost to change it. Too bad he couldn't get help before it got to this. Sucks big time. Probably a good thing for everyone to just be much more aware of the people close to you...and don't be afraid to push them if you think something is wrong. "Letting things go" is never a good idea. I can say from my perspective...I don't hate the man. But I certainly don't think of him as anyone but a sick, broken person who could have done better, and perhaps had TOO much focus on one aspect of his life. A lack of balance, as it were, led him down that path. I certainly don't think of him in the same light as I did before though, if I ever see any of his matches again, it'll be without admiration...simply a bit of sadness for the whole situation.

We Have Us An Iron Man

Looks excellent to me, and really why would an iron man suit be -sleek-. It should be a bit bulky. Plus Iron Man has NEVER been very mobile on the ground, he usually uses boost jets to move anywhere fast, heck I don't recall in my young comic reading days, iron man walking ANYWHERE. Lots of hovering, in fact ;p Can't say enough how much I can't WAIT for this f'in movie. He's my fav superhero by a huge margin

I don't want to see either guy win, really. This is funny, because i almost feel the same way. I can't STAND Penn's spoiled rich kid attitude towards everyone/everything. Rubs my middle class ego totally raw. I'd much rather Jens win, the only thing is I don't think he's any sort of contender in lightweight division. But I'll be rooting for him anyhow. i just can't understand why so many people seem to be in love with Penn. His attitude is almost as bad as Hughes, imho.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Is the next WEC show going to be free on VS again? I missed the last one just out of sheer idiocy (I was browsing TV...saw it...and it totally slipped my mind that it was the actual show) Anyone know the next replay on it, I want to see the Faber fight

    UFC 73

The Evans v. Ortiz fight is so interesting, and so difficult to gauge because both fighters have a similar strength (Wrestling/G&P), but are at radically different stages of their careers. I look at the fight in my head and my first instinct says Rashad, but I still have some logical doubts about his ability to weather a barrage if Tito gets on top. I'm really looking forward to this one, for this fight as much as anything, because I think it could be a great 3 round fight with a lot of G&P and it's really up in the air.

    TUF V: The Thread

I rewatched the first round of the fight, and I can see your points in terms of how close a few of the submissions were, and how many good strikes Gray got from the top. My reaction, I think had more to do with seeing how Nate was gameplanning the entire fight, rather than the individual round, and I let that color my opinion of the round in terms of the scoring. To me, it looked as though he had the better round in terms of what he wanted from it, but I definitely can agree that Gray would win that round (Though not a 10-8 as BJ was trying to claim). Part of it is I still feel that in the UFC scoring submission attempts aren't given nearly ENOUGH weight, and perhaps that G&P is given a little bit too much weight. I totally agree with you about bein ragdolled, and 190% agree about Manny winning that fight. I don't see Diaz being able to get him into as many compromising positions, as Manny's body positioning once he has ground position is tremendous (Plus his nice little mini headbutts! ).

    TUF V: The Thread

Explain why Gray gassed so fast at the beginning of the 2nd round then, if he wasn't being worked extra hard in the 1st? I STILL don't see how you can say he was getting his ass 'whooped'. He got hit -solidly- twice. One on an elbow, and one on a nice looping right while he was in the middle of a sweep. And how can you say those punches weren't effective at all, because they sure slowed down Gray when he threw them. There is a big difference between crappy strikes from guard (which I've seen plenty of) and the ones that Nate threw in two series of strikes (Not all of them, but there were two series where he threw a combination of nice upstrikes). And working your opponent over for submissions can use HIS energy up, and also will put you in good position. If he wasn't constantly looking for submissions, he wouldn't have gotten the position advantage in the early second round, and Gray may not have hurried so much to defend a nonexistant leglock, if he hadn't kept trying them in the first round. And Diaz always has his hands like that. He STARTED the fight like that. But at the end of the day if you JUST score a round based on 'damage' then it doesn't really reward people for attempting submissions and maintaining control of a fight and TRYING TO FINISH THE FIGHT. And as a -judge- and in -judging- a round, you're supposed to judge who won the fight, based on a variety of factors. Damage isn't even one of those factors, actually, though it surely can play a part. And if those strikes really 'slowed' him down, why wasn't gray able to maintain control at ANY point in the fight, and why was Diaz able to constantly apply submissions entirely unaffected. Damage, to me, means you impede the other persons ability to fight.

    TUF V: The Thread

Umm. He got cut once...hit like twice. If you watch closely, his strikes from the bottom were MUCH more precise than any of Gray's from the top. He attempted about 15 different submissions. MMA isn't just about 'getting beat up'. It's about controlling the fight and attempting to win. I could give that round to Diaz no problem, in fact I'd be remiss to EVER give that round to Gray, because he got one decent elbow in, that didn't slow Diaz down at all? No way.

Can't believe BJ trying to say gray won that round 10-8...he's so crazy. Good fight. Nate just had so much more skill than Gray, you could see that in round 1...well Dana could...not sure about BJ

That is a challenging round to score I'd either give it 10-10 or 10-9 diaz. Amazing round

    UFC 74

Gonna be a doozy. I really think Gonzaga has a very good chance to win, he's a matchup problem with Couture. However if it gets past the 2nd round, Couture will grind out a decision on him with superior conditioning.

Ex bodyguard of Lindsay Lohan tells all

What boggled my mind...is when she randomly showed up in the Prairie Home Companion movie... And was pretty good in her role... I just didn't understand it, it was nonsensical. They could have got any random girl to play that role, why someone like her. And whyswould she agree to it. Just totally the most random thing about that movie ;p
