    Lockdown Comments!

REALLY sorry about the horrendous extra space in the Ward/Blank match, that was my fault there. It looks terrible and I really wish I'd fixed that.
  2. What's with the Todd Cortez rematch? I mean I don't mind, but seems a lil unexpected...gives me a chance to potentially get my win back (yeah right )

    Marvel = WWE

The biggest issue with this is that marvel has already licensed out most of their best movie properties to other studios. Spider-Man, X-men, Fantastic Four, and Iron-Man rights are already owned. The only decent ones they'll be using are Captain America and The Avengers (Although how do you do the avengers when you have hawkeye, capt. ameriuca and iron man individual movies is pretty retarded...might as well do the Avengers West Coast) I mean I -personally- love Dr. Strange, but there might be 6 other fans on the planet. A Nick Fury movie might do well simply because that character translates well to a movie...but it won't do well based on the comics' fanbase. But why should I complain, marvel will hemmorage money and I'll get a Dr. Strange movie

    Help me with TNA matches...

I like that stance myself and it definitely makes sense. Treat it just like you would a always-sold impact finisher (not too many of those anymore though) if it's on it's over.

    Help me with TNA matches...

I agree with ending with the Kokina Clutch, I love the maneuver (Love submission moves/finishes). I just don't like it coming after the muscle buster...I think it cheapens the submission hold by having to preface it with such a high-impact move, because it's really the muscle buster doing the damage. The best way to put the move over would be hitting it out of the blue...you know, maybe off an irish whip just overpowering his opponent and dragging him to the canvas, etc.

    SWF Lockdown Card 9-7-05

I started playing rugby for my University team as a freshman, and was actually pretty good at it because I was big and fast...I was a back but I could knock half the forwards on their ass. Unfortunately my knees are so ridiculously bad I couldn't handle the running. Being a back in rugby is almost as much running as in soccer, with a lot more physical contact.

    SWF Lockdown Card 9-7-05

According to the FIFA site that's a ranking based on the last 8 years of competition, so it's a gradual process to work your way up the list. Sorry about our crappy fields err 'pitches' most of them are designed for american football... Sorry, more of a hockey fan than a soccer one and it's Goaltending in hockey, so I figured it was the same

    SWF Lockdown Card 9-7-05

    Current FIFA rankings put the USA one spot ahead of England! 1 Brazil 0 837 -9 2 Argentina 0 782 -5 3 Netherlands 0 780 -1 4 Czech Republic 0 777 -1 5 Mexico 0 770 2 6 USA 0 768 3 7 England 1 743 -1 8 Spain 0 739 -5 9 France -2 737 -12 9 Portugal 1 737 -2 Maybe I'll follow the World Cup this time, i watched a few contests last time out but we had a disappointing showing.

    SWF Lockdown Card 9-7-05

Like tennis? When's the last time a briton won Wimbeldon? ... ;P Sorry, that was low. Apparently the u.s. is ranked pretty highly internationally, just below mexico now. We actually have a legit shot at the World Cup this year, and we have STELLAR goaltending. And there's Freddy Adu in the future

    SWF Lockdown Card 9-7-05

Uhh...the only thing I know about soccer/futbol is that the U.S. beat mexico and we're in the World Cup and we're actually not too bad this year. S'not my sport of choice.

    Help me with TNA matches...

I watched the Joe v. Sabin match last night after work while eatin dinner. Went into it expecting nothing, as i've seen neither of these guys work before and other peoples comments don't really register to me. my FIRST biggest gripe that detracted form the match for ME was the colour commentary. If that guy is gonna be doing iMPACT I seriously don't know if I want to watch it, as his voice hurt my ears and distracted me from the match. Second, one of the commentary guys said Joe was 6'8"...WTF? That would make Sabin like 6'7 or 6'6" because Joe hardly towered over him. And he certainly didn't LOOK like a 6'8" guy (More like 6'4" to me)...is sabin really that big also, or was this just a load of horsecrap. The actual match was fairly entertaining, i actually preferred Sabin's offensive spurt to Joe's early domination, though I really liked the triple submission move spot, it really got over to someone the whole Samoan Submission Machine gimmick (I laughed to myself when he gott he crossface hooked and the announcers hedged around actually naming the move). the finisher somewhat bothered me...because why would anyone need to lock in the Kokina Clutch after a ridiculously devastating looking move like the muscle buster. I marked hard for that, but seriously would have liked to see a plain pinfall after that move (And coming from me that's weird, because I mark out HARD for ANY submission move). I enjoyed the action though, and Samoa Joe looked pretty threatening and I loved the way Sabin sold the offense. Looking forward to some TNA Saturday Nights, minus that damn colour guy.

    The Official NHL Offseason Thread

if you guys need someone I could sign up and play. Hockey's not my best sport when it comes to player knowledge, but I follow it enough to do an average draft and I'm decent at fantasy leagues in general. Lemme know via pm or message and I can sign up at about 6 this evening.
  14. That would suck pretty hard.
  15. That was my first thought. I mean it's -plausible- they would give away their license for free, but have higher royalties on the sales. It also depends on the developer/publisher...it's also reasonable to think they could be -paying- money to have their license used, but get a cut of sales...that's unlikely though. I'll prolly at least rent the game, unless it gets absolutely horrible reviews.
  16. I guess I always look at it in that context, because well...his wrestler is a 'robot' That already screams to me "Nothing he says is really even remotely based in reality"
  17. Video Game = marketing + revenue It's like making money to increase your exposure...or at the worst break even maybe? But I doubt it. A ton of the huge 18-25 male demographic is into video games, and they WILL check out TNA if a decent (possibly even better than SvR if they get the right dev company to do it) game comes out for them. Increases viewers, thereby further increasing revenue. Finally, it adds a real aura of authenticity to their product, as people will say "Wow these guys have an official video game, dvd's in wal-mart, action figures they must be something to take note of"
  18. We can all agree about that.
  19. I took it the same way, I was just using it as an example of how some people (not me) would read into it the wrong way. Honestly it's not the promo I care about, just how judgemental everyone is about the dude, over a piece of inconsequential fiction I mean he's a robot, he doesn't know right from wrong anyway, right?

    WHAT THE BLOODY HELL

Man dude that got me laughing out loud at work, that's not cool. Hell, I'm laughing as I write this. I'm sure they would break out the guns for you though, it's not the law enforcement that lacks weapons, just the general civilians there don't seem to have as easy access to them (especially firearms)... i mean i could go into Wal-mart tonight and come home with a multi-round shotgun and shells with nary a problem.

    WHAT THE BLOODY HELL

Maybe the lack of real guns and weapons in general mean kids w/ air/bb guns are very threatening?
  22. Or you could be taking everything he's written far too seriously for a fake wrestling federation? Do you take what the WWE does that seriously? What about a drama on television, that creates insensitive and racially tense situations, is that were you draw the line at being offended? What is the difference between a fake wrestling promo, and say when I write a poem comparing the people I deal with at the welfare office I work at and the people who are stuck in new Orleans creating looting gangs and shooting at rescue vehicles...which one is more offensive, does the medium of writing change the artistic merit? It's fiction. I mean, you already know you don't like his subject matter, why would you even bother to ever read his threads, much less comment. I mean I could contend YOUR response is pretty offensive, as you say 'Western Civilization' as if other civilizations are less significant...you know it DOESN'T offend me, but it could if I wanted to be a asshole about it. I'm just not getting the same vibe as you are from any of his promos that I've read. I don't know the guy, so I certainly wouldn't be so quick to pronounce him as a racist or a homophobe...perhaps he's a bit insensitive, but who isn't at times? - MJW

    WHAT THE BLOODY HELL

that's a chav? Uhhh, how can anyone take themselves seriously looking like that?

    Unforgiven

You know, I'm kind of excited about Trips' return...I want to see what angle he's going to go into, because I'm HOPING they'll realize they can't just shove him back into the World Title scene. HHH is certainly better to watch than Cena, at least to me. I'd take the HHH Push of Death any day of the week over Cena. I'd love an Angle/Trips feud if they weren't both always heels.

    Promo

What exactly is wrong with this promo, that makes this guy a 'tool' as you like to call people? It's pretty philisophical, and doesn't really seem to connect to wrestling at all, but I'm sure there's a reason for it, and it's a pretty decent piece of abstract style writing, in fact it reminds me of a decent poem I wrote once
