    Ultimate Fight Nigh

Tavares looked VERY good. So FAST. So aggressive. So controlled. He has the right mentality to be a great fighter, you can just see it in his approach. He's the best fighter I've seen so far tonight, far and away. He's gonna be special.

OAO Monday Night Raw Thread- June 11, 2007

I don't think it was a backtrack. I think it was just Vince & the stuntman changing places, with the stuntman's foot coming down to "show" that Vince was really in there. I had just assumed that Vince was making one last pause before he closed the door. This explantion makes more sense. That's what you're supposed to assume, which is why it works and at least THAT part is believable... The explosion was funny as hell...I wonder if some poor people out there actually believe he's dead. That'd be good for some laughs

OAO Monday Night Raw Thread- June 11, 2007

Very few picks so far... Are they going to have like a battle royale where each elimination is another draft pick? Right now it seems like VERY minimal shakeup with only an hour left...I'd be disappointed if this is the extent of it :/

Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs

Why is it that everyone BUT Mike Brown knows that his best lineup is Lebron, Varejao, Pavlovic, Gooden, and Gibson? Is it really possible for him to not realize that?

I think Dana is doubly pissed because people were claiming it was his idea (since he is the matchmaker) and he was going back on his word from the show. I have to agree with him, if you're going to make a strong stand, stick with it.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Conference Finals

He's gonna get all this praise for this game...and he deserves every bit of it, because he was truly beyond real tonight. He's freaking 22 years old...and he decimated 5 players at once for the last 20 minutes of that game. Just surreal.

LeBron in this series has really shown he can play defense too, just taking tayshaun prince out of the game entirely.

    TUF V: The Thread

QFT As good as a PPV fight, really awesome display by both guys in that fight. I think Melendez might be the better fighter overall, he REALLY showed me a lot on the ground. The weight cutting clearly hurt him.

Because he never intended on making weight at all. And he definitely didn't want to fight and even have the -potential- chance to lose to anyone (I bet he would have made weight and fought weems, because he could have rolled through him ;p)

Awesome article. The part about Diego was awesome...he goes off "When he poked me, his thumb went right below my eye up in the orbital almost touching my brain" The touching my brain part made me laugh out loud. Then the bitching about the boxing judge...because it's true...the boxing judge stuff is ridiculous :/ So funny though

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Conference Semifinals

That'd be an interesting trade. Marion is a better rebounder, but isn't the floor-wide defensive presence of kirilenko, and I honestly feel AK-47 is a better offensive presence (more potential for sure, and younger). That's hard to say who would win, but I feel Kirilenko is more of a team player (Remember when he was upset, it wasn't because he wasn't number one, it's because he didn't understand why they'd pay them all that money, and not play him). I really just want to see the "Free AK-47" thing come true, because he's my fav player (And he's REALLY lifting his stock in the 2nd round so far, in a lot of ways showing just how valuable he is) Course the real ideal would be marion and kirilenko playing together. (That potentyial number 4 draft pick + Diaw?) Amare, Kirilenko, Marion, Bell, Nash. Freaking Barbosa off the bench?! Most stacked lineup ever.

    UFC 73

Some people aren't fans of MMA, and yes, some people find it boring. No biggie. Yet you enjoyed Pride, and essentially you're saying that you'd watch it for the spectacle of everything BUT the fights? That's just weird. That's like going to a baseball game because the $7 hot dogs are good. Maybe he's from here in Pittsburgh, where most people go to baseball games because it's a pretty outdoor bar? It does strike me as a strange reason to like Pride, there is PLENTY of pro wrestling content out there with all of the spectacle/hype of Pride... And people get tapped out with arm bars in Pride just as well...the whole argument is goofy.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Conference Semifinals

    A. I'd love to see Utah vs. Detroit, if Detroit has to be in the finals, I'd love to see them agonize as Okur hits dagger after dagger against them. Plus Utah has their number the past few years. B. Kirilenko actually looked really good when he was playing semi-point for them, he doesn't make bad decisions, and he's SUCH a good passer, that it's sad he has to play in the utah offense. Him on the suns would be something unreal.

Oh i agree, Chuck would be the last person you'd want to put in with a boxer, as I think he COULD lose the fight. I only used Chuck as an example of someone with pure striking ability who uses the MMA rules to his advantage...in a way a boxer might not be able to, certainly not without some training. He's the type of person a boxer would love to fight, though even so I could see him knocking someone out if they didn't take the training effort seriously. I think Mayweather could be a great lightweight...but boring.

Clearly Fedor would be the best example of how DOMINANT an MMA fighter would be over a boxer. Someone like Lidell or Hughes or Couture or Tito would get the best -ratings- in the U.S.. More marketable than Sherk or a foreign fighter. But the reality is I can't see a boxer really winning, one of the hardest parts for them to adjust to would be the infighting. You see so many kickboxers making transitions to MMA (not always sucessfully perhaps, but htey do) because their skills translate to -mixed- martial arts better. The infighting/clinch is very important. Someone like Chuck, with his excellent sprawl, is still capable of separating fromh is opponent in the clinch and creating space and using that to get big shots in. Boxers use the tie up to rest and drag out a fight, not to create offense.
