Smackdown Spoilers for the 1/26 Airing

The pyro freaked him out too. This has been a good episode of Smackdown. Miz/Benoit was pretty good as was MNM/London-Kendrick. Smackdown is just so much better than Raw it isn't funny.

    UFC Fight Night #???

Salmon looks really out of shape and his fighting style is ugly as hell but I have to give him props. He looks like he has basically no idea what he's doing but he has still taken round 1. Edit: I guess that's what happens when you fight perpetually bent over at the waist and don't move your head at all.

    UFC Fight Night #???

Rashad has started to show some finishing ability lately, hopefully he can show that again.

    UFC Fight Night #???

To be fair "Irish" didn't look very good either, his subs were pretty awful looking. Edit: Beat me to it. Herring was able to escape the sub attempts by just moving his head a bit. Pretty bad fight all around.

    UFC Fight Night #???

Is Herring supposed to be good at all? Edit: I think I can wrestle better. How do you get get on top and 2 seconds later voluntarily roll to the bottom?

    Australian Open Thread.

What is he supposed to do? Hang back and lose? I think the idea is for Roddick to become good at net play and at least have some strategy other than to play a much worse version of the same game Federer plays. Edit: Federer is just plain much better, I'm not sure that there is a good strategy for Roddick.

Man this Federer vs. Roddick is brutal. Roddick can't do anything from anywhere on the court.

A lot of my dreams make perfect sense and are easily understandable.

    BCS National Championship Game Thread

I can think of better reasons than "too short." How about "can't handle pass rush at all" or "turns pass rush into 15 yard loss + fumble." He handles the pass rush like Vick with half the speed and agility. If you are going to run away from the pass rush you either take a couple of steps up/to the side and throw it or run upfield with it - you don't run backwards aimlessly. Running backwards makes it harder to pass and harder for your line to protect you.

Buckeyes have sucked in every aspect. How the hell do you lose 14 yards on a sack? Troy Smith has been awful. Run straight backwards, get sacked, lose 15 yards, repeat. Coaching sucked too.

I don't know much about college FB but it seems like when Troy Smith has pressure he runs straight backwards then back and forth waiting for someone to tackle him.

    HHH tore his quad tonight

Cena/Orton would be horrible, Orton has zero credibility as a threat to Cena, the guy has is a bumbling incompetent portraying a bumbling incompetent.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

Why did anyone expect Eli to be good anyway? That is what I don't get. The same goes for Chris Simms. He wasn't even the best QB on his own team before being drafted! I guess your last name counts for an awful lot.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

I love how Tom Caughlin has the rep as a "discipline coach" even though his teams always get heavily penalized. Edit: Throw within 5 yards of Burress. That's the plan.

    BCS National Championship Game Thread

I'm against playoffs in college ball, because I enjoy the fact that a team can go undefeated and not even sniff a championship. I also feel that the winner should not be determined on the field but by voting, like in gymnastics. Also I really like how part of your rating depends on how people *thought* you would do in the pre-season, instead of how you actually do. BCS is pretty awesome but strawing straws might be that much better.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

The Jets problem was the defensive front. When you bring 6 or 7 guys and still can't pressure the QB you are going to lose. Their blitz was worse than a normal pass rush from a better team. Edit: Eli threw to Shockey...must have mistaken him for someone else.

Couple more details please. Is it modern day? What kind of enemies? You use a gun, martial arts? General setting? Etc etc

The 50 best TV Episodes of 2006

I like BSG but The Shield finale was an order of magnitude better. The key scene was the best scene in a show I've watched, easily. Well acted, well scripted, everything leading up to it was very well done. You just *knew* something bad was going to happen but it was still an amazing fucking shock when it did. That's the sign of a job well done - it was both predictable (on some level) and a complete surprise. Best scene in a show ever? Quite possibly. Best character death ever? Almost certainly. Obviously I haven't watched every show ever made and I don't like to throw around hyperbole and superlatives but that episode was just all kinds of fucking amazing. The BSG 2-parter was "wow cool!" but The Shield was just epic, incredible TV. Not only the best episode of the year, but one of the best episodes ever.

    UFC 66 (12/30/06): Liddell v. Ortiz 2

Leben has been exposed from day 1. He went 0-2 on TUF! If you take away his reputation for being a tough brawler (a reputation that doesn't really seem earned from what I've seen) you are left with a very medicore performer without any real skills on his feet, in the clinch or on the ground. The guy is a textbook "wade in and throw punches" sort of fighter. No kicks, no movement, no technique. Walk straight ahead and keep punching isn't going to cut it. The only guys he can beat are other wade in and throw punches guys who don't throw as hard.

    Wii

Wii sports is just pure fun. I love all the games. Any company could take any one of those games and turn them into a full-featured standalone game. Just let you move your guys around with the nunchuk and there is your tennis game. My friend and I tried Golf with the trick where you turn all the maps and meters off, that was a blast. I can't remember the last time I had this much pure fun playing a game. My friend did the boxing training where you are supposed to hit the trainer's gloves and instead punched the trainer about 20 times in the stomach, both of us were just cracking up it was so absurd. Hopefully some companies will man up and make some fun sports games. The sports potential is really awesome and naturally fits in with body movement.

    2006-07 MLB Offseason Thread

I find it entertaining that Randy Johnson is a broken-down has-been while Beckett is an up-and-coming star, even though Johnson is probably the better of the two. And while Beckett is younger he is stubborn, doesn't take advice from anyone and hasn't shown any real improvement in years.
