Maybe I was one of the exceptions, up in Canada, we didn't really get WCW until 96-97. So I saw nothing of this and knew of the Vader that feuded with Jack and Ron Simmons and Sting. Maybe that was what most of the WWF audience at that time was like too. I'm pretty sure a bunch of them ignored WCW until the stars came into the company and then followed them.

Yeah, this Vader thing bugs me to this day. We have a MONSTER heel coming in. Destroys Monsoon and appears to be definately headed towards a WWF title win. The thing that pisses me off is that Vince blows money away by making Vader LOSE his first match, I believe it was his debut match at the Rumble in 96. He gets elminated clean, no shananigans, nothing. And to Michaels of all people. They shouldn't have crossed pathes that soon. Then at Mania he goes into that 6 man tag match. If ANYTHING, they should've made him have a high prominent match against some singles star. Ahmed perhaps, to start a feud that would pick up later in the year. Warrior? Yeah, job his ass out to Vader. Why? It would give more heat for Vader, and let's be honest, Vince loves the hosses, a Vader vs. Ultimate Warrior feud would be something out of his dreams. Razor Ramon? Yeah, do the match one month earlier and make the burial and last match of Hall going out on a bigger stage. Diesel did the job and looked damn good, making his finisher look weak as Taker kicked out of it twice. Two Razor's Edges don't put away Vader, Vader then Vader Bombs Ramon two times to officially kill the Ramon character and send him packing all the way to WCW. I mean, just give Vader a win streak beating mid-carders and upper level starts until he gets to Shawn and kills him dead. Hell, if I had my way, put him over Bret, and Taker CLEAN too. I miss the days of a dominate heel monster, and Vader was definately one of them back then. Ugh, this Vader run in 96-97 definately still bugs me even now.

I never knew that Best of 2001: Viewer's choice was rare, I bought that for like 12-15 bucks AFTER the WWF became the WWE. I know Mania 17 is up there, but what's the going rate for this DVD? It's really nothing special to me, that's why I'm kind of shocked it's worth something.

Simple question for all. Who did Triple H bury the worst? Your selections are: a) Scott Steiner b) Goldberg c) Kane d) Rob Van Dam e) Booker T. f) Tazz After thinking this over, I think it's safe to say he pretty much buried each guy equally, but after seeing the ECW vs. WWF Championship storyline and the short feud with Tazz vs. Triple H and the snide remarks HHH made about ECW, the title, etc........... man, I think he dead set point blank, killed Tazz's character and gimmick from that point forward. At least for the other 5 they had their reasons. Steiner messed himself up in the ring by stinking it up. HHH wouldn't let Goldberg get over immediately, but hey, we has still a star in WCW years before. Kane lost the mask, and some say never recovered. Also lost the IC title to HHH, but, even as buried, he was never that big to begin with. RVD and Booker were very close to being real stars, but only lost because HHH deemed them not worthy. So at least on air, they didn't get assinated like Tazz. Plus eventually thye both got world titles in 2006, so all is well with these two. Anyone disagree with the Tazz selection?

I keep on hearing over and over that there was a supposed Benoit vs. Tazz feud? Was that really on the horizon? I mean were they really THAT HIGH on Tazz that they would let him defeat Benoit for the IC title.

Heel turns that the wrestler didn't blame the fans?
Boxer replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
What was Perfect reason for turning heel in 1994 at Wrestlemania X? Was it really storyline continuation or did he align himself with Yokozuna and Fuji? I'm kind of drawing a blank here, although at least this one counts as not blaming us for this heel turn. -
Would the fans buy Mysterio as World Heavyweight Champion even before Eddie died? You had Batista as champion on Smackdown, and before that JBL, Eddie, then Lesnar. Safe to say the big strong guys dominated that show. I don't know how many fans, especially the ones that watched the Lesnar and Batista title runs, buy Mysterio in the heavyweight mold. As for the topic itself, I just thought of two more guys. Vader and Ahmed Johnson. I think both would've been great WWF World Champions, because they were both getting heat in different ways. If only Shawn jobbed it to Vader, I seriously wonder how different 1997 would look, with a Vader vs. Ahmed feud starting the year off. One more as well, Tazz in 2001. Man, after getting shitted and crapped on by Austin, I was hoping that Tazz choked the shit out of Austin and we get ourselves an Austin vs. Tazz feud. Now, I'm not saying that Tazz should've won the belt in 2001, he was sort of damaged goods by then, but at least having him feud with the champion and going from there could make the fans buy him as a world title contender.

Here's something I wanted to ask, and it seems like the right thread. Was the reason guys like Foley, Austin, Mero and Vader were released was because Bischoff was clearing room and money to offer Hall and Nash huge contracts? It seems back then everyone compared it was a 4 for 2 trade off WCW did. Was there simply not enough money to keep all 6 of them in WCW?

So with Edge coming out with a DVD later in the year, this begs the question, who needs a DVD the most now? Has to be an active wrestler though, we all know which retired wrestlers deserve a DVD. Choices: Batista: arguably the guy who carried the Smackdown title and well, he's had a fine career. Some very matches can be had on DVD such as HHH, HBK, and Undertaker. Been around long enough to deserve one DVD if Cena already has two. Chris Jericho: since he's NEVER had a real DVD, that one in 2000 doesn't count, now here is a guy who badly needs one. From matches with Michaels, Rock, Angle, Cena, HHH, here's a guy who has a full list of matches that are ready to be put on DVD. I must say before I started this thread I felt there must've been more guys who need a DVD, but that's about it on the active roster from what I can see from all three brands. Looks like every other big star has had a DVD out recently or within the last year or two.

All I can really hope for is that the other 4 guys from the Smackdown title match, have spin off feuds. So we can get like an MVP vs. Kendrick, Kendrick vs. Shelton or even Hardy vs. Kendrick feud. Just something fresh and different.

If Razor Ramon were to have become WWF Champion, man, I would've loved to see a Stone Cold vs. Razor Ramon feud. It would've been so much better than the 2002 watered down and injuried variations that occured then. These two would probably have some good brawls/no holds barred matches. Heck, even Diesel vs. Stone Cold, Razor Ramon vs. Mankind, and even Diesel or Razor vs. Ahmed Johnson. Just some matches I though would've occured during that time that these guys crossed pathes in the WWF.

I am reading a live report of the Smackdown spoliers and ugh. If you thought the Raw title scene was confusing....

Here's a quick question for all you DVD buyers/collectors. What are the top 5 rarest WWF/WWE dvd's out there? I know Judgment Day 2002 is a tough one, what about the rest? Also, are all the WWF released DVD's in high demand because of the no blurring/editing and that they were pulled off the shelves once the named changed.

Then I guess Joey Styles isn't doing his job, from wwe.com: http://www.wwe.com/shows/raw/results/7442496/

I know that Hogan had in his contracts that they promised him a title run with whatever company he signed with. Who else had iron clad guarantees of a title run either when they jumped ship to another company or re-signed with the same company? If my memory serves me right, didn't Goldberg's WWE contract guarentee a world title run? Also, if contracts did guarantee a title run, were any promises broken?
-
I thought that's what WCW promised him when they signed him in 1994. I guess I was wrong.

Nice to see one of your politicians tell someone to "SHUT UP".

Heel turns that the wrestler didn't blame the fans?
Boxer replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
Can someone explain to me how Bossman turned heel after leaving the WWF? What was the explaination in WCW? -
Well, IF he comes back then, what can he do? Raw: Well, there's a natural feud with HBK. He can go after Punk for the title, or Cena and Batista. Can also serve as Adamle's hencemen/bodyguard. Smackdown: Go up against HHH for the WWE Title. An 11 year old feud revived with the Undertaker. Can battle Edge or great Khali as a face. And then there's the Big Show vs. Sid. I don't think those two were ever in the same company at the same time. ECW: Yeah, right.

New Sid news from rajah.com: Anyone else starting to believe more and more?

Not good on Bobby Heenan's status from rajah.com:

I just saw Madden 09 for Playstation 2. I thought they stopped making games for the PS2? If not, will they ever? I mean, that's what the PS3 is for, no?
-
Man, adding a Sid vs. Pillman to go with HBK/Taker feud, Austin/Owen and Bret/Patroit would've made GREAT TV at the time.
