Mariotti had a heart attack? When did this happen? (thanks to work I haven't seen ATH in awhile) On his way to cover Notre Dame/LSU (I think) he had bad chest pain on the flight. Once he got to New Orleans, it did not subside so they rushed him to the hospital where he had an emergency angioplasty. He's fine, so it's ok to joke about. He should be back on ATH in a month or so, from what I've read. Although I honestly can't stand him.

It's days like today that I am thankful that Jay Mariotti had a heart attack so I don't have to hear his bullshit on ATH. As for the story... yawn.

Holding Bonds out of the HOF is retardation on the highest level and anyone who backs such a position really needs to strongly consider how WRONG they are. He's a jerk. He probably did roids, yes. But Barry was too good for too long, including multiple MVPs in years when steroids weren't even in question. Not to mention he was otherwordly and feared like no hitter (not named Babe Ruth) in history from 2001-2004. Hundreds of players were taking steroids at the time but none even came close to being the hitter and force that Bonds was. People have to get on their high horse and preach to the moral fabric of America, but a HOF without Bonds is not a HOF.

Fuck it. I was on the fence about ordering HBO before with Entourage, The Wire, Curb, etc. I'm getting tired of waiting for the DVDs... But if UFC is on HBO, that decides it. No questions asked. Awesome.

I am SO glad that Miami gets to keep a pro sports team after all! Because after all, when I think of the great sports towns in America, I think of St. Louis, Chicago, and Miami. A third is that they play in a football only stadium and one of the "reasons" that the crowds are so sparse is that there is a 75% chance of rain every day and the heat in July and August is too much for some people to bare... hence the need for a retractable roof. We'll see if that ends up being true and attendance goes up or if it was all just a load of baloney.

The Marlins have finalized plans for a retractable roof ballpark in Miami Dade county, keeping the team in Florida. It still needs to be approved by the county and city boards but will NOT go to a public vote, which is what killed the other 5 or so times they made it this far. I have faith this will get done as the head baseball negotiating man is MLB's Bob DuPuy and not shit-for-brains David Samson of the Marlins. If this happens, the next thing I want to see is Miguel Cabrera signed to a 7 year, $140 million contract. No more excuses after this.
