Man, Kimbo Slice on PTI today was awwwkwaaard. I love Tony Kornheiser but he's probably the last guy in the world I want interviewing MMA fighters. -

What happens in the sitaution of a no contest? Get your money back? Hey did anybody else see Kimbo punch David Blaine in the stomach last night at full power... TWICE. Blain just stood there and took it without even flinching. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a magic trick and that David Blaine is just some kind of supernatural freak. -
What do people think about this? I am not the biggest taco bell fan in the world but I saw the commercial and figured I'd give it a shot. It came with a volcano taco, which was not as hot as I expected but was actually pretty tastey... it was mostly just spicy cheese, and then a burrito supreme, crunchwrap supreme, cinnamon twists and a large soda. I was running out of gas about 3/4 of the way but I pulled through look a trooper. I figure if you like taco bell it's worth the $4.99. But I don't want to see Taco Bell for like 6 months now. I feel that way after every time I eat there.

He does some pretty cool magic tricks... at least I think they're cool. That's what 95% of these specials are. Him in the middle of whatever retarded shit he's currently doing and while they "build anticipation" they show him doing a bunch of magic tricks on the street.

David Blaine's dive of death was the weakest of weak shit. There WAS NO DIVE. He just fell on a harness and then "disappeared"... fuck, at least I was pretty entertained by all of his ridiculous street magic leading up to it.

I really like the PI... I think I'm going to love this season. And the cancer stem cell made for a great episode.

Five Ounces says Arlovski/Nelson is official. NICE. That's a pretty nice little card for free TV.

Velasquez out, Chieck Kongo in for that fight.
-
Whaaaaa? That's out of nowhere. That's QUITE a step up in competition for good ol' Big Country... he might get stretchered. Lushus, no, I think most believe that Kimbo should still win this fight.

When I lived in North Carolina I would try to go to Hardees once a month... my arteries couldn't handle more then that. But it was easily the best fast food burger joint I've ever been to (Haven't been to any of the good CA ones yet).

New CDs dropping in November: The Killers, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Fall Out Boy, and now Kanye West pushed 808s and Heartbreak up to November. I'm like... in heaven here.

Anybody planning on getting the first Android phone? My interest was piqued but it looks pretty underwhelming. Here's a nice critique: http://gizmodo.com/5053734/how-many-google...o-tell-the-time

Ok I just wanted to test the waters with my original post. The most important thing in my life is being the mixed martial arts moderator on this message board. You know...when I'm having a long day and nothing is going right...just the thought of potentially editing an EHME post helps me make it through the day. I'd also have to say that the day I first received access to the staff folder is right up there with graduating college, the day I moved to Australia, and the day I closed on my home as the happiest days of my life. In fact, it easily surpasses all three. Combined.

Who would you guys start this upcoming week as your flex player... Thomas Jones or Reshard Mendenhall? I'm leaning towards Mendenhall. Jones has really disappointed me so far, the Jets were overhyped. I like Mendenhall to at least punch in a score on Monday night. What say you?

Yeah, I recorded the wrong showing and ended up recording the condensed replay at 4:30 PM. Due to my schedule this actually worked out as the best solution. Here's EVERYTHING you missed: Overeem shows up with about 20+ pounds of extra muscle which he uses to manhandle Cro Cop. He has Mirko on his back a lot... working him over. Busted him up under his left eye and was pretty much handling him on the ground. They get to their feet and Mirko lands a pretty nice body kick, goes for a headkick and Overeem catches the leg and takes him right back down. More GnP from the top. They stand...Overeem hits a vicious knee to the midsection that looks like it hurt Mirko... he goes for another one and hits nuts. 5 minute pause or so. They get back and Overeem clinches again and hits another two-three solid knees that looked like they damage Mirko before he hits balls AGAIN... no contest. Pretty much all Overeem, legally or illegally. Jacare/Mousassi was pretty much Jacare going for takedowns... once on the ground he was utilizing some GnP to look for subs but didn't really come close to landing any. Both guys were about 100% fresh and Jacare had Gegard on his back... he went for some punches from a standing position... Mousassi whiffed on the first upkick and hit the second one flush on the jaw to KO him instantly. Jacare just slumped down to the ground like he'd been shot. And that's the end of the show. The big loser last night, in my opinion, was Manhoef. When I was watching his entrance I was thinking... man, this guy could be a friggin' megastar in the US. And then he goes out and gets tooled quite handily. Oh well. Here's a question for those who really know about Japan much more then I do... is Akiyama respected but booed (kind of like a good wrestling heel... you think he's great but boo him because it's part of the fun) or do they just flat out hate this guy?
-
Cro-Cop/Overeem no contest was fucking bullshit. Overeem looked like a tank, for one, and two he was destroying Cro Cop with those knees until he went low a few times. Just a shitty, shitty way for the fight to turn out. Mousassi as champ is fine by me, but I hated the ending to the final. It was a sick upkick and all but fuck... it just seemed so random. Seriously, though, Akiyama is the fucking best. The opera music, the choreographed moves planned to elicit boos, the rope jump at the end of the music... he's the best. Somebody needs to send Josh Koscheck a DVD of all of Akiyama's entrances and crowd reactions ASAP. But yeah, this was the worst of the DREAM cards.

I'm really looking forward to a studio cut of Spaceman. Neon Tiger better really have improved while touring or that's gonna blow. Human is pretty catchy now that I have the mp3 but I'm still not thrilled about it.

This was not as good as him destroying Josh Weinstein in season 1, at least I didn't think so. The best parts of this were Lloyd's commentary. Drama was the star of the episode again..."That's a phase that lasts forever, Bob."
-
Hmm... I think the lyric is actually "are we human or are we denser" but either way that's bad bad writing. I like parts of this song, but as a first single it is leagues below the first two albums.

Josh Thompson apparently called out Joachim Hansen after he steamrolled his no-name opponent at the Mansion. Even though he schooled Melendez...I'd still favor Hellboy. Would Joachim come to CA to fight or would Josh have to go overseas? -
The Upcoming Shows/Rumored Fights Thread

Maybe we should just police that ourselves... we get new posters so infrequently. My only concern with starting one is that the pinned threads are starting to pile up. -

Out of all of the newest big "stars" he consistently sells the least PPVs. Off the top of my head reasons: 1) Doesn't speak english. Doesn't appeal to a lot of meathead and/or redneck MMA fans 2) Matches are almost foregone conclusions -
Yeah, he might beat Alistair but I really can't see him coming through clean enough to fight Sergei later in the night. In my head I have Cro-Cop/Overeem as a pick'em right now. To me, it will be a good indication if Cro-Cop is Cro-Cop again. Keep forgetting this is tomorrow... I hope I don't fuck up and log on to Five Ounces or another site again when I wake up and have the ending spoiled.
