4 pounds is a gigantic miss for such a high profile fight. It's almost like he didn't even try to cut. I don't get it.
-
Thiago Alves pulled a carano and came in 4 (4!) pounds over. He immediately joins the Travis Lutter memorial "Guys Who Ruined Their First Main Event Opportunity" of the UFC Hall of Fame.

I'm pretty sure that Sawyer kicked another one of the foot soldiers and not Keamy when he was talking to Kate... that would mean that he was never "definitely" dead. I think it's completely different from Mikhail.

Final card for DREAM4 posted in the original post. I'd be excited for this card if I actually had a chance to see it. I'm still going to be looking for the results of that Mayhem/Jacare match as soon as I can find them... hopefully it will be a fight worth tracking down when I have a real internet connection again. Still not sure wtf is up with that grappling match, though. So strange.

Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia
Mik replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
With Trump involved is there any doubt that this is Tito's next stop? Tito makes no secret of his man-crush for Donald. This promotion may have a chance yet... -
I think this deserves its own thread, simply due to how revolutionary it is. IGN has a few nice features of this up. One of which I'll link now. http://wii.ign.com/articles/866/866524p1.html They say it's among the best scales money can buy. I believe it - because it's calculating your movements so it makes sense it can get your weight very precisely. Some games on here besides yoga: skiing, running, dancing, football (!) There are also personal trainers who actually shout encouragement at you while you're going through these exercises. You can download the daily fitness test to your console so no need to pop the game in for your daily test. I guess the question is: is this just an exercise tool or is it a game? Well, IGN says that it is fun and they in turn classify it as a video game. I absolutely can't wait for this. Who's with me?

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I get that, but that's the clear #1 vs. #2 fight and after Faber vs. Pulver doubled the best ever rating the WEC ever pulled, they might be looking into it more. Just so no one gets alarmed - I'm moving this WEC discussion to CTDWAT. -

I think it's almost inevitable now that Dana brings in Kid and/or Inoeue (sp?) to fight Urijah after the way the Jens fight went. -
Thiago Alves showed what he was worth by beating the "welterweight gatekeeper Karo Paryisian" according to Dana White. Can't wait to see what Karo's response is.

MAIN CARD * Champ Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver -- for WEC featherweight title * Champ Miguel Torres vs. Yoshiro Maeda -- for WEC bantamweight title* * Mike Brown vs. Jeff Curran * Kenneth Alexander vs. Rob McCullough* * Donald Cerrone vs. Rich Crunkilton* PRELIMINARY CARD * Tim McKenzie vs. Eric Schambari * Luis Sapo vs. Alex Serdyukov * Jose Aldo vs. Alexandre Nogueira * Dominick Cruz vs. Charlie Valencia I'm also guessing that if he can get out of rehab in time this card will have Filho on it. This will easily be the biggest card in the history of the WEC and it's got an interesting Sunday slot. It's going to be on Vs. Early predictions: Faber and Torres defend easily.

It's international.

I thought of starting this thread the same day I started the 87 thread but I didn't feel like seeing my name all over the page more then it already is. I also don't think there's nearly as much to discuss for this card.

What are peoples thoughts on renaming this thread "Mixed Martial Arts General Discussion"? -
It's killing me inside that I missed this and this thread isn't helping matters. Lots of big upsets on the undercard, as well. How did Munoz look?

Despite having no television for the month of June I was actually in position to watch the card. I ended up at my mother's in PA and told my friends I would meet up with them after the card. 9PM rolls around - I put on CBS and and they are running a telethon for something-or-other. Oh well, I tried. Sounds like I didn't miss much but I still need to catch the last three fights at some point. If this thread is any indication, this card drew a lot different audience then normal shows. YPOV, stick around and post more. I was wondering where you went.

ok, that's the first and last time I perform moderation on my iPhone. I can see topic is not correct. PM me correct title and I'll fix when I get back to a real computer on Monday. -

I can see why this may warrant a thread due to it being a wrestling board, but in and of itself its not really threadworthy. I will say ahead of time that if he gets an official UFC debut (with opponent listed) then that can have a thread. -
Now that's a fight I'd want to see... Kimbo vs. Big Country.
-
If anyone can get a hold of these...put them here please.

Youtube is blocked at my work. Can someone give the jist of it?

I still prefer last year's. Aside from the flashforward you also had all of the super awesome Charlie stuff and Hurley saving the day in Roger Workman's van. I don't know... maybe I'll change my mind but I'd put this just behind last year, for now.

I read this thread on my cell phone before I went to bed last night and I thought I was going to have to come in here and straighten some people out but luckily NYU handled it for me. Anyone who thinks Locke is dead as in dead isn't watching the same show that I watch. Did you honestly think not only Locke but Sawyer, Juliet and everyone on the island is just going to be forgotten. REALLY? I can't wait to see how Locke messes up, how he gets off the island, how he goes to visit Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, etc., how he really dies, if he's actually really dead. I mean, Locke was island leader for three whole years. You don't think we're going to see what happens there? Locke was obviously trying to convince them to get back to the island, same as Ben. But he only gets to Jack. But Ben is more of a manipulator and he'll get the job done. Anyway - the star of last night's episode, to me, was Ben, as usual. Taunting John by shaking the flowers, "you killed my daughter", "so", "can I have my weapon back?", crying as he turned the wheel. Dude is a tour de force, I'm telling you. It's going to be nuts that the O6 is probably going to be hunting down Desmond next season.

* Champ B.J. Penn vs. Sean Sherk (for lightweight title) * Keith Jardine vs. Wanderlei Silva * Lyoto Machida vs. Tito Ortiz * Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva * Terry Etim vs. Jeremy Stephens * John Koppenhaver vs. TBA * Wilson Gouveia vs. Goran Reljic * Rousimar Palhares vs. Ivan Salaverry * Dong-Hyun Kim vs. Jason Tan That's a pretty damn good TV portion of the card. First of all - I'm looking forward to B.J./Sherk more than most fights in the works right now. I'd buy it for that itself. Wandy/Jardine is official as of today. If we're using MMAmath that's an easy win for Jardine, but since MMAmath doesn't really exist... well, I'm still going to go with Jardine. Wandy isn't superman anymore and I can definitely see Jardine grinding out a decision like he did against Chuck. Tito's last UFC fight and I guarantee we're going to see fireworks between Tito and Dana both leading up to the fight and at the card itself. In fact, a little bit of it has already started. FWIW, I can see this backfiring on the UFC as Tito might be able to overmatch Lyoto's counter style and grind out a win. Either way, this will be a spectacle. And Silva/Rashad will be a test for both men and a big step up for the winner. Hell, if Rashad wins he probably will be in line for a no. 1 contender match. I'm pretty psyched up for this one. Three damn good PPVs and an unreal UFN coming up.

Crowd shot from UFC 84. Yes, that is Michael Jackson.

Urijah wants a rematch with Tyson Griffin and is willing to move up to 155 to get it. Wonder who gets the fight, UFC or WEC?
