  1. I'm currently at work, and thus cannot type as much as I want to at this point. When I get home later I'll elaborate more. If I'm repeating what others have said, sorry. I don't have time to go back through the last few pages. Every news site is saying "roid rage" caused all of this, and I just read the statement on WWE.com that attempts to discredit that. I think it's way too early, especially with no toxicology reports, to make that assumption. I feel this is just the media being sensational as it always is, leeching onto a well known issue within pro wrestling (and Vince McMahon) to make this horrible case even more over the top. What I fear is that this will turn into Vince McMahon/WWE vs. The Media Trying to Bring Him Down Yet Again, and the tragedy of yesterday will be second fiddle to Vince trying to emancipate his company. The WWE can make great changes to improve it's company. I just hope they don't spend all their time fighting a dumb enemy. If Benoit's reports come back and he was all roided up more than Chris Masters, then they have reason to fear. But not now.
  2. As much as I hate FOX News, Shepard Smith and the people he is talking to are fantastic, because they are slipping in personal opinions here and there. It's better than straignt news reporting.
  3. The text(s) that he sent to (Chavo?) weren't received until much after they were sent, they said. I bet he said what he had done, and that's what set off all the alarms.
  4. Can we go ahead and say that this is the biggest story involving Professional Wrestling, ever?
  5. A Bible was next to both Nancy and Daniel.....what? He tied Nancy up before he killed her?
  6. Killed himself Sunday..........
  7. For those of you who keep debating the removal/re-appearing of Benoit on WWE.com and ShopZone, I think it's just the webmasters tweaking the site to remove all references of him. Things will probably re-appear and disappear until they get it right. I just saw an ad on ShopZone for the Vince "I Did It Shirt", then clicked on it and it was no longer valid. I believe the WWE will distance themselves from Benoit as quickly as possible. I mean, there's no way they can right now, but the only mention of him is via the frontpage of WWE.com. I'm sure that's only there for the curious who are wondering what is going on. Both the RAW and ECW TV pages make references to Vengeance. I think that the removal of Benoit's name from DVD descriptions is just so they don't advertise/profit from his name. I'm sure the DVD's themselves will still have everything involving him intact, but they just don't want to advertise it. They could go all they way and delete him entirely from all DVD's he was on (just removing the matches entirely), but that would be a hassle, with him being in the WM XX main event, the first MITB match, and Royal Rumbles, among others. So, I don't think they'll blur out his entire body or anything, just not advertise him as part of the purchase. I'm sure future compilation DVD's of Best of's (like the Ladder/Cage/WWE Title) won't have any of his matches, either.
  8. I DON'T KNOOOOOOOOOOOW That was the first time in this thread I laughed. Thanks.
  9. Why do they keep showing footage of Luger?
  10. ? www.wwe.com/ The black background, and the psychotic look doesn't paint a very flattering picture of Benoit. LMAO... That's the same picture and background they've been using all day, even before they found out about what the investigators thought. Get a life. Actually, they changed the photo about halfway through RAW. Funny thing is, Benoit had the exact same look on his face in both photos, so I don't understand why they changed it. He didn't look any more "sinister" or weird in either photo.
  11. From Meltz: Benoit sent the text messages to Chavo Guerrero, one of his close friends. The story said WWE officials learned of Benoit's death at 4 p.m. from the local authorities. They gathered the wrestlers to the ring area where they were told only of the deaths of Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel. They were told the live show was being canceled. WWE will go on with regular programming tomorrow in San Antonio, with Raw & ECW tapings not based on either a tribute to Chris Benoit or continuing the Vince McMahon angle.
  12. Technically a SmackDown! taping was canceled after 9/11. They had a live SD on 9/13/01. True, yes....but is this the first cancellation with no make-up date? I mean, the 9/11 Smackdown was simply postponed 2 days. This RAW was flat out cancelled. Sure, they'll probably make it up down the line, but it was still cancelled.
  13. The Chris Benoit page and RAW page on WWE.com has been changed. Rather than saying "In Memory of Chris Benoit 1967-2007" with his photo, it now says "In Memory of the Benoit Family". Kind of subtle change, but perhaps to acknowledge the recent details. The "tribute videos" are now old clips from 2005, where the testimonials from tonight were.
  14. Can anyone verify that this is the first time a WWE RAW, Smackdown, or Pay Per View has been outright cancelled? Was anyone at the arena tonight to explain how they were told to go home? Just curious.
  15. The front page of WWE.com is slowly reverting back to it's pre-death form, save for the Vince stuff, of course.
  16. From the story on ajc.com: "The details, when they come out," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard, "are going to prove a little bizarre."
  17. The answer's obvious. Benoit was a Wikipedia contributer. Or someone was trying to be cute and added that after hearing Benoit had "personal issues", except that it turned out to be true. But it would be amazing if Chris DID add that himself.
  18. From WWE.com: According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned. Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family. Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m. At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home. WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday. The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks. WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.
  19. Guys, just because this turned out even more tragic than we expected, just because Chris Benoit might be remembered for doing something unspeakable from now on, doesn't give anyone the right to suddenly make humorous remarks about it. It just seems that idiotic humorless attempts to be funny have popped up in the last half hour or so. I'm not a mod or anything, but please stop.
  20. i'll agree with that sentiment I third that. I would lose it watching it even before tonight.
  21. I would take 5 straight years of Vince shit over this anyday.
  22. My God, I feel like throwing up. I took a nap, woke up about a half hour ago and flipped to RAW, just seeing what dumb Vince shit they were pulling. I see Michael Cole and JBL "paying tribute" and think "Ooh boy, they're REALLY pushing this". Then, "Remembering Chris Benoit" appeared in the corner, and I can only describe the feeling as being socked right in the gut. I sat on my bed for 5 minutes in total shock, in a cloudy haze. This can't be happening. Not now, not ever. His whole family. Why? What? How? I want to crawl into a hole and stay there. I was live in Kemper Arena and watched Owen Hart fall to his death. I never thought that I could feel that horrible feeling again. Now I do, and I have to be perfectly honest (with no disrespect to Owen) and say that this feels much, much worse. My only comfort in all of this is knowing that he, Owen, and Eddie are all up there together....at least I hope. God Bless you Chris, and I'm praying for your family.
  23. Nah, Saturn did it because that "fucker dropped me right on my HEAD!"
  24. I think the only reason "Tootsie" was on the list (again) was so they could show that clip of Dustin Hoffman crying about it for the 12th time.
