It took several months for Punk to get over in ROH too. Three years later he was arguably the best -- and most over -- worker in the company. I would honestly take more merit from the "he doesn't know how to work" complaints if they came from people near the middle of the card that, you know, don't panic the second somebody looks like they're capable of taking their spot. Punk, if given an actual chance to succeed, can get over on his ring work alone, and he's so good on the mic that he's not going to have to. Funny how a guy that's in the middle of a program with Chris freaking Masters has the gall to say somebody new to the company can't work. Like Masters can work any better than half the guys who never made it out of OVW before their release.

I usually have a couple of things in mind and go from there, although if there's a specific story I want to tell I might do a rough outline before I start writng

For the record, the match times in this review are based off of how long it took me to read the match bell-to-bell unless a match time was announced by Funyon. Flesher intentionally adds a tenth of a pound just so he can throw an opponent over the top rope? Awesome! But how would one circumvent pure wrestling rules? "That's What They Said About The Buffalo" is the national anthem? Was that the only Buffalo reference we could find? Manson's getting all vicious with the current losing streak. Could he be on the way to turning full-fledged heel? I hope so, just so I can start typing "MANSONOSITY~!" without feeling quite as stupid about it. Tom Flesher pins Ced Ordonez with the Ego Buster in 7:25. Essentially an extended squash to show Spike Jenkins what to expect at Genesis. Perfectly acceptable. Landon cuts a killer promo on Todd Cortez, ending it with probably the single greatest sentence in the history of wrestling promos. Good stuff. Landon Maddix defeats Manson via KO to the Land of Nod in 8:50. A pretty good back-and-forth match here. Maddix's cockiness gets him in trouble a couple of times, but a cool counter sequence into the Crash Landon sets up the finish. Again, perfectly acceptable as a way to make Landon look strong heading into Genesis. Bruce Blank pins Devon Walters with a fisherman buster in 17:02. I liked the banter with Pete and King a lot here. As for the match, pretty good by big man vs big man standards. I think Bruce wrote Walters pretty well here, actually, although I'm not sure Matthew would have actually gotten as involved as he did. Still, some good downhome Memphis-style cheating by Blank with some good wrestling thrown in. Be careful though, and somehow Devon changed his last name to Williams about halfway through the match. I don't comment on my own stuff. Sweet promo by ELM, who not only explains exactly why he turned on the fans but suggests that Danny Williams should do the same at Genesis if he wants to retain the title. Very simple, very direct, yet very effective. El Luchadore Magnifico pins Johnny Dangerous by countering the Super Spinal Explosion into a DDT at 12:03. A very good TV main event, with Dangerous having control of the majority of the match only for his temper to get the better of him and eventually cost him the match. It's going to be interesting to see exactly how ELM's apparent rib injuries play into the World Title Match at Genesis. My only real complaint is that it took about three minutes for the false countout spot, but if this were WWE we wouldn't even blink at it, so it's kind of hard to complain about it. A very good Genesis preview overall.

This reminds of the guy in the HIWF when I was running it who was the World Champion and decided to leave in the middle of his title reign because he thought I was "shooting" on him. He asked to write the main event, a "dream partner's" match. I told him fine, just let me know the partners and the finish ahead of time. He changed his partner and didn't tell me, and when I called him out on it he went "You're screwing me," I quit. The fun part was when the entire fed asked me for my side of the story, and I only lost one other guy in the ensuing backlash because he was close friends with the instigator. Credibility and integrity kicks ass.

Um...I've only glanced through the show so far but it seemed like the main event put the challengers over pretty well, even in defeat. So...um...yeah, I think I missed something too.

I was watching ROH Do or Die II the other day, and in the second match, a team called the Solution defeated Jared Steel and Todd Sexton. I caught the name of one of them (Havoc) but couldn't catch the other name. Anybody know it?

101 Reasons the SWF Kicks Ass: The Thread
JHawk replied to Chuck Woolery's topic in Community/General
14. The longest title reign of any kind is under six months, and nobody ever bitches about titles changing hands too quickly. -
Unless you want Zyon and Jenkins to both do double duty, I'd have to assume the Tag Team Titles would go undefended at Genesis. Of course, should W&D retain... ... ...they'd probably still go undefended unless TKO got the shot.

Do you guys realize that if we'd have had an actual show at Jacobs Field last night, we'd have probably been looking at an 11:30pm start time with that Indians-Tigers game? Anyway, congratulations to Danny Williams on winning the World Title yet again. Maybe now we have a champion who will at least cut a promo once in a while.

Sounds like a great lineup. I need to actually read Storm a bit more closely now, huh?

Except Diva is a good friend of mine, not a gimmick poster, and had a bit better grasp of grammar. However, Maria is our guest here, so we should make her feel at home. Hell, she brought our former unfuckwithable owner out of hiding. That takes some doing these days.

Detailed reviews are always welcomed and, in fact, are encouraged. There are some people who only make major comments around PPV time (I tend to be guilty of this myself, actually), but they're definitely a good thing. How else do you improve without feedback? I only skimmed your match, but I'll give a detailed review later on if you'd like.

Actually, it does. Technically, a submission requires a wrestler quitting, and a wrestler doesn't quit when they do the arm drops. He passes out. Passing out = KO.

Shawn getting put down by it would certainly add a ton of credibility to the move, and let's face it, not many fans in this day and age by a full nelson as a credible finisher anymore. And you know Shawn's probably winning any blowoff to the feud anyway, so what the hell? That being said, I will still be in complete shock if Shawn's arm drops while locked in the hold tonight.

This about the only post I can reply to since my nominations in the others have already been mentioned at least once. The Pay Per View Match of the Year Award I'm going to pick the Wildchild-Scott Pretzler ladder match from Battleground. Simply awesome The Non-PPV Match of the Year Award I'm nominating two, and the first one's probably going to be a shocker. 1. Toxxic vs. Andrea Montgomery from (I believe) October 2004. Reading this match is actually what inspired me to start taking a look at possibly entering the fed. I even had a promo planned out to make fun of Toxxic for coming *that close* to losing the title to a woman. 2. Johnny Dangerous vs. Jay Hawke in the International Title tournament finals. I still think the match I wrote for this one was my best work in the fed so far ... and it lost. I'd be stupid not to nominate this as a result. The Feud of the Year Award Scott Pretzler vs. Wildchild

Because ABC Family executives like the love between the stepbrother and stepsister. it shows quality family values. ... What?

And therefore the card's being edited again.

Dammit Rando. Had I known that I would have done a 500-word squash job just to pad my record instead of trying to come up with a compelling 4100-word back-and-forth matchup in a 3 1/2 hour period before work. You suck!

Someone made mention as to how he never feels the headlocks set up the RKO. Maybe if Tazz and/or Michael Cole would say something as simple as "All these headlocks help weaken the neck for the RKO", maybe people would get that fact.

I know the cost of living is higher in CA than most other states, but if I were making that much an hour I wouldn't be trying to figure out where next month's rent is coming from.
