Dammit Cortez, what's wrong with letting me think I actually got a legit win over you? That's twice now!

    Triple H Update

Nick Bockwinkel didn't deserve to be a top-tier guy? The guy could flat out wrestle, andhe sounded extremely intelligent on the mic. Sounds like a guy who only saw Bockwinkel's last couple of matches with Larry Zbyszko (which still weren't bad).
  3. I disagree. I referee for some indies. If I were told I'd be working so many shows and getting so much for them, got dicked around like that, and people knew I'd get dicked around and didn't tell me, I'd be furious. That's something you absolutely have to tell your fellow workers. OK, sometimes things happen, but this seems way too extreme for it to be a case of things unforseen happening.
  4. What exactly is the split in the Toxxic-Pretzler series right now? Since everybody seems confused as to whether Spike's interference in the originally scheduled match #3 counts as a no contest or not.

GTA San Andreas forced to change game rating

Circuit City has also pulled it off its shelves as we're not allowed to sell AO games at all no matter what. And we're flat out told to check IDs if somebody who looks under 25 is trying to buy an M-rated game in the first place.

    The best signs ever

Why does the Rock fear Paper? I'm probably gonna wind up with egg on my face for not knowing, but.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Rock paper scissors. Paper covers rock.

    Vengeance estimated buyrate

I'm sorry, but I'm still calling bullshit. Not to say ECW One Night Stand did WrestleMania-type numbers like some originally thought, but here are the facts: 1. Casual fans I know bought ONS, some of them telling me they hadn't bought a PPV in three or four years. 2. NOBODY I know saw Vengeance...or even remembered there was a PPV that night. 3. If I had a dime for every person who came into work and asked me if we carried ONS on DVD, I could pay my fucking rent. I'm supposed to believe that Vengeance did nearly 50,000 more buys than ONS? Granted, I live out in northeast Ohio, so this is by no means a national sample I'm using. But you'll have a hard time convincing me ONS did a lower buy than Vengeance until the absolute final numbers are in. I'll concede one thing. Since the webcast isn't included in the buyrates, then I'm willing to bet more people saw ONS live than did Vengeance. Add in DVD sales and tell me what the more successful show was.

CLICK ON ME BEFORE SENDING YOUR MATCH!

Well, as it stands right now I'm going to try to show, but I've got food poisoning and have spent as much time in the bathroom as anywhere else today...including the sales floor at work.

And Punk's still got the belt? He's got to lose it next week in Connecticut, right? RIGHT?

    SWF Lockdown Comments

I had actually thought you had written yourself to lose sine JL Crunk got beat down and you were talking about writing him out anyway. ::shrugs:: But trust me, we all have cases where we think the match we wrote is better than what won. I still think the International Title tournament match I had with Johnny Dangerous is the best thing I've written here, and that went as a loss. As an aside, they were nice enough to have Myers get pinned, so it's not as if you're the one who "lost" the match in kayfabe terms.

    Napoleon Dynamite

Because just when you think you've figured out what the plot is, they spend like 20 minutes without ever mentioning it? Overall, I thought it had its moments but that it wasn't very good overall. And honestly, the only reason I even tried watching is because everybody at work swore I reminded them of Kip. And the're right, but that doesn't make it a good movie.

    Promo - "Finding Yourself"

Jesus, I take a few days off to move into my new place and things get turned upside down around here. Remember that time I lost that tag match because you told me two hours before deadline you couldn't write? In all seriousness, man, good luck and thanks for one funny farewell promo.

    ECW One Night Stand

There's still one reason I'm not 100% buying that figure. Casual fans bought this PPV. I mean, people who hadn't bought a PPV in years bought this show. Some because they loved ECW, some because they were curious. Does that mean every regular WWE fan decided they didn't want to see it? That and people were still talking about this event a week after it happened Add that with the number of people that have come into work asking me if we got the DVD in yet. I'm not necessarily saying that the estimate isn't official, but I have to believe it's higher than that until I see the final numbers
  14. I only have one complaint with your match, Zyon, and it's not really about the match itself. I noticed you had Jay Hawke go for the Hawke Swoop. That's a move that I have asked to only be used in title matches when the Wing Span hasn't done its job. I have only written that spot into a match once in over months, and that match lost, so technically it's never been used and thus should be a really huge deal. In this case, while you put it over as a deadly move, it was also treated like something that's been done on a fairly regular basis, which isn't the case. Overall though, outside of the run-on sentence problem (which I'm guilty of on occasion as well), I really liked the match and think you're well on your way to being a major player here.

    SWF Storm Comments

Although I won't be around much this week, I did want to comment on the main event: First off, I probably won't post the loss in the losing matches thread, simply because I wasn't real happy with it either. That being said: WC did a terrific job writing for my character, I thought, especially playing off the match I had with Randy Myers. I loved ripping the poster out of the kid's hands. Classic shit. My one complaint: Wasn't every referee supposed to be named "Viktor"? What the hell was Red Herrington doing there? Great match though.

    A week late...but still

Joined: mid-February. First Match: A win vs. no-showing Danny Dagda. Decent enough since I was out of practicer having been out of efeds for nearly two years. Greatest moment: Winning the International Title for the second time, as I didn't think the match was that good given the "no restholds" stipulation. Favorite OOC moment: Writing my review of Battleground and trying to explain Janus' promo.

I wasn't around when Kibagami was, but his reputation precedes itself. Don't fuck with this dude.

    SWF Storm Card, 7-1-05!

We did? Uhh... what's the penalty for not bleeding? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Um...I thought I'd requested the night off, actually. Oh well, I'll figure some way of getting this one out. EDIT: In fact, this could be fun.

    HEY!

I ran one of these things for six years. Trust me, there are people with huge egos about this stuff. I think we're all writing to win (if not, then our stuff's going to suck and it isn't any fun). But if you're faced with working against the same people for a few weeks straight, it's not that big a deal. It's called "a program". Trust me, I didn't like having four matches in a month with Arch Griffon since I wasn't comfortable writing for that character, but I still had fun writing the matches. Just have fun with it, guys.
  21. You're doing nothing wrong that I see, Tom. There are times where I've questioned how my character has gotten booked, but part of the fun with this fed is writing matches around it. Please don't go. Please don't go. Please don't go.

    Much more banners!

Except for two things. 1. I actually write my own shit. 2. They consider that Masterlock Challenge bullshit to be an actual match, which inflates the record.

    Theme music?

Ric Flair's. "Also Sprach Zarathustra" or however it's spelled. Hell, I'd even use the knockoff he had in 1992. It's just got a great vibe for a no nonsense type of character.
  24. So here's a question. On the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80s DVD, they mention Slaughter winning the AWA World Title, and even show a clip of him celebrating with the title while Lee Marshall gushes over the title change. The problem is Slaughter was never an official AWA champion. How did that match end to justify the Dusty finish?
