Yep, I'm back/ still around. Unfortunately my internet usage is limited.
-
I hadn't thought about the "close to the chest" line until it was brought up here. So I think it might be a little thematic thing.

I'm getting married in December. We're using NFP, which is a form of "birth control" that doesn't use contraceptives, but rather depends on mintoring the fertility cycle of the woman in the relationship. Now... we're doing this not because we think contraceptives or birth control are bad. We're doing it because... well, because sex with a condom is like wrapping a plastic bag around your dick. I don't want to do that. And because we don't want to mess with her body artificially. The only pill we'd have any kind of issue with is the "morning after" pill. This is dumb. Birth control is not the same as abortion (though the morning after pill does concern me a little).

As a believer, and as someone who is walking away from his Christian University after this semester, I think there are some insider things happening with this that, hopefully, have little to do with politics. The responses in this thread even automatically tie 'evangelical' with 'republican' or 'conservatives'. When asked about Gay Marriage, my answer is decidedly not political. Vote for it if you want to vote on it, because I see no constitutional reason that it can't happen. The church's job is in no way to be political, or to force it's values into the makeup of the legal system. The church's job is to deal with the church. Another way of putting it is: I'd vote for the legalization of Gay Marriage, but I'm glad that I'm a part of the line of Anglicans that disagreed with the promotion of a practicing homosexual into leadership, and so broke away to observe what scripture teaches. Outside of the church, we have no right to discipline anyone. Someone not in the church hasn't agreed to uphold scripture, and I cannot ask them too. I think alot of Christians, especially in my age range (I'm 25) are sick of having our faith twisted into a political ideology. It is not that. Jesus worked hard to make sure that it was understood that faith and power do not mix well, and that it isn't about that. Anytime they mix, the focus is lost, scriptural teaching is misrepresented, mistaught and misunderstood. And worse, hate is propagated in the name of the Lord. And that is, frankly, a horrible sin. I'm an artist and a writer. I work in theater and film. There are all kinds of interesting people with different lifestyles and beliefs. My job is to get to know them, regadless of any of that, and love them. Because they are worth something to God, and are worth something to me because I understand what they mean to God (and because I'm a fellow human being). Christ died for their sins as much as mine. Not to judge them. Not to interfere with how the laws affect them, as the laws are not the church. I am sick of how my own school does its faith. And I am sick of my faith being used to promote anything other than an accurate understanding of itself. I think this document might be born of a similar movement among believers.

Hey guys. 1. Apologies to Phoenix Fury Legdrop. I pretty much dropped off the earth. Or the internet. Sorry dude. 2. We lost internet at my house so my access is pretty spotty right now. Hopefully this will be resolved before the month is over. 3. In the mean time, LunarPhoenix/James Cone is completely up for grabs. PFL, he's all your's. Do whatever with him until I get back if you want. Loves and other stuffs. Money sucks. And so does Time Warner. Byez.

It would be awesome if Taker just yelled, "I'M THE UNDERTAKER MOTHERFUCKERS!" and then double chokeslammed them. That would have made that ten times better.
-
Holy shit Cena's over in SC.
-
I mark for HBK, but objectively I have to give this one to Taker. For the good matches and the rub, as stated already above.
-
I'm certainly hoping someone who does need it wins it. I'm not saying someone won't. There are some great possible matches to come out of that lineup for sure (like MVP/HHH, which could be pretty fun), there's just something off about it. It'll be interesting for sure.
-
Uh, it usually is.. Booker won it and went on to a World Heavyweight Title reign and the awesome as hell King Booker gimmick. It may just be that something's just not clicking in my head about the lineup next Monday, but it seems half full of people that have no need of it. But that may just be me. Sadly, I missed the King Booker gimmick while away.

I've missed Cryme Time up until this very moment. This is the first time I've seen them. I've only recently started watching again after not watching much in the last four years because of school. And I love them already.

I think Jericho could use it the most. Though given that line-up, I might think Big Show gets the spot. HHH, Batista, Punk and HBK don't need the rub, MVP doesn't need the gimmick - so that leaves Umaga (who has been jobbed out too much lately), Jericho and Big Show. I just want to see Punk vs HHH or Punk vs HBK in one of the rounds... I'd love it to look like this - HBK vs CM Punk, MVP vs HHH, Umaga vs Big Show and Batista vs Jericho I'd love to see some of those.
-
Remember when KOTR was something used to elevate?
-
I would say Punk will win the tournament, but he won MITB. Not sure they'll push him *that* hard.
-
What's sad about this to me is that I don't see it going anywhere with Jericho (unless there's some news or something I've missed). And I'm pretty sure that Jericho and a Michaels who is trying would be pretty damn good.

The problem with many of these suggestions is that they are generated by a "if society was THIS WAY!" mentality. Which is just a wish list. For everything to work with suggestions like that, society would have to be finely tuned and balanced already. And... uh, turn on the news, y'know? Putting aside the fact that it's crazy, something like kid licenses is just not feasible. Hormones alone are going to create major problems. When people wanna fuck, they probably will. That's part of the problem now! That's where single moms with 9 bad ass kids starts - poor planning and nonexistent prevention. If people drive without insurance, they will fuck and get pregnant without licenses. There's no stopping it. It's been happening since that fucker with the big club nailed the chick in the leopard skins a few dozen million years ago. Just sayin'. It's unenforcable. That's a word now if it wasn't.

Yeah, that little Two-Baltar conversation was pretty great. One of those things I didn't think they'd do but when they did it it made perfect sense. It does nothing to deter me from my belief that Baltar is the final cylon.

Big fan. Because he's really a really creative guy who made it on that creativity and on a willingness to do whatever it took. He's not muscular, he's not a body builder and yet he's one of the most over guys ever. That's really great, to me. He also seems to be a genuinely good guy, which is also nice. The retirement match at NWO with HHH was one of the most intense match experiences I've had as a viewer. I really wanted him to have the belt going into Mania and I didn't see the retirement coming. I was pretty sad about that. I haven't seen much of his work after that as I wasn't watching regularly, being at school.

Die Hard Dick Danger Open Invitational! Anyone with a free character looking to get them some ring time, Die Hard is throwing down an open challenge for next week. I'll even write it! And other Lunar Phoenix stuff.

I'm oddly not surprised. Wow. Angle's current TNA theme is the best. It makes me happy for some unknown reason.
-
When I started watching again late last year, I was surprised to see Christian on TNA, but oddly pleased that he was apparently doing well. I'm most amused by the Evanescence rip-off they have him using for a theme song, but that's TNA. In a strange way, I think it's what I'd do with him if I were putting together a new promotion and I landed him. More or less.
-
Thanks. That's far more accurate than my original statement. : )
-
No doubt. Or draft him elsewhere where he'll disappear in the midcard.
