HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2006 Top 5 Favorite Nirvana Songs #1: About A Girl (Beatles meets the punkish metal of grunge). The first song on "Bleach" to highlight Kurt's ability to blend the punkish metal with the pop sentimentality. #2: Scentless Apprentice (Probably Kurt's most vitrol song singing wise and a very metalish feel). #3: Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle (Continues the earlier vitrol/metalish sound from the start of In Utero. Love Grohl's drums here too). #4: Where Did You Sleep Last Night (Cover but probably one of their most memorable songs, simply for the ending scream alone. It being acoustic made it even better and Kurt's voice lended an air of innocence until he just throws his voice out for the last minute.) #5: Breed (Nirvana at one of their most punkish moments). Henry Spencer 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2006 Nothing metal at all about Nirvana. He said metal-ish. While certainly nobody educated on the subject would mistake Nirvana for a metal band, their sound owes a very clear debt to Black Sabbath.

Guest Oedipus Rex Report post Posted February 14, 2007 Ooh, good one, Inc. Let's see. King Crimson - "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" - 20.45 (is this legal? if not, just Part I.) Lou Reed - "Street Hassle" - 11.00 Television - "Marquee Moon" - 10.47 Can - "Peking O" - 11.38 Bob Dylan - "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Low Lands" - 11.20 "The Little House I Used To Live In" by Frank Zappa should be on here, as it's over 18 minutes, but if we're gonna get technical, it's Third Stream, which depending on your interpretation, is a form of jazz, and it's more of a composition than a song. I think the last minute is live, too.
