Guest MrRant Posted July 7, 2002 Report Posted July 7, 2002 Does anyone else here love Greek food? I can't stop eating it. Gyro's... Feta cheese with warm pita's. Sylvaki (sp), God I can eat it all. Of course I also love Italian so I guess it may be a Mediterranian thing.

Guest MrRant Posted July 7, 2002 Report Posted July 7, 2002 I don't have the recipe on me but I will post it when I get home. The main ingredients are yogurt and cucumber of course and its suprisingly easy.
Guest starvenger Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 > Is falafel a Greek dish? I thought it was a Middle Eastern dish or something. There's a lot of crossover between the two in terms of the "staple" dishes. Kebabs and Souvlakis are essentially the same, as are Gyros and Donairs. Falafels are deep fried or steamed nuggets made from chick peas, garlic, cumin and some other stuff. If you like hummus, you'll like falafels as well... All that aside, Greek-style grilled lamb chops are excellent. And let's not forget Greek coffee...
Guest areacode212 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I have never had Greek coffee. I think there was a description of it in an issue of Sandman which kinda scared me off. It's basically really thick, right?

It's basically really thick, right? Yep. Essentially it's a sweet expresso, and will WIRE you better than any other caffinated drink...
MrRant Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 I finally found a good Greek place here and had a Gyro. God it was good. Feta cheese piled on and great Tsaziki sauce. Mmmmm..... Gyro.
NoCalMike Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Living in CA, our workplaces are often filled with a hundred different cultures, which make it great for the potlucks. I have had all sorts of,spanish/mexican/indian/fillipino/mong/korean/ and russian etc... food over the past 5 years of working, just by having the coworkers to supply the food. All of it is good really.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 I've never had a gyro with feta cheese...... it just have the pita, lamb, tomato, onions and cucumber sauce. I might ask them to add some in.
