Does anyone else here love Greek food? I can't stop eating it. Gyro's... Feta cheese with warm pita's. Sylvaki (sp), God I can eat it all. Of course I also love Italian so I guess it may be a Mediterranian thing.

Is falafel a Greek dish? I thought it was a Middle Eastern dish or something.

And I absolutely love souvlaki with tzatziki sauce

tzatziki sauce is the bomb with rice. I made my own once and ate it with rice and for like 3 days straight that was all i ate.

I don't have the recipe on me but I will post it when I get home. The main ingredients are yogurt and cucumber of course and its suprisingly easy.

There's a lot of crossover between the two in terms of the "staple" dishes. Kebabs and Souvlakis are essentially the same, as are Gyros and Donairs. Falafels are deep fried or steamed nuggets made from chick peas, garlic, cumin and some other stuff. If you like hummus, you'll like falafels as well...

All that aside, Greek-style grilled lamb chops are excellent. And let's not forget Greek coffee...

I have never had Greek coffee. I think there was a description of it in an issue of Sandman which kinda scared me off. It's basically really thick, right?

Yep. Essentially it's a sweet expresso, and will WIRE you better than any other caffinated drink...

I finally found a good Greek place here and had a Gyro. God it was good. Feta cheese piled on and great Tsaziki sauce.

Mmmmm..... Gyro.

Living in CA, our workplaces are often filled with a hundred different cultures, which make it great for the potlucks. I have had all sorts of,spanish/mexican/indian/fillipino/mong/korean/ and russian etc... food over the past 5 years of working, just by having the coworkers to supply the food. All of it is good really.
