Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted October 28, 2002 apparently [spunge] have been covering 'Oliver's Army' live and plan to release it. They're a british ska-punk band and though i don't care about them that should be fun when drunk.
Guest Kibagami Report post Posted October 29, 2002 The Descendents' cover of "Only The Good Die Young" is also quite badass... S.
Guest notJames Report post Posted October 29, 2002 The Descendents' cover of "Only The Good Die Young" is also quite badass... S. What album/comp is that on? Me love the Descendents long time. As long as it's better than Me First and Gimme Gimmes' version, I'm all for it.
Guest Kibagami Report post Posted October 29, 2002 Eh, I dunno the album. WinMX is a beautiful thing. On a related note, Lagwagon does a badass cover of "Brown-Eyed Girl". Punk covers rawk. S.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted October 29, 2002 LIE (local band) - Them Bones (Alice In Chains) Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night? (Leadbelly) Type O Negative - Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath) Six Feet Under - TnT (AC/DC) Nashville Pussy - Sweet Emotion (Aerosmith) Aerosmith - Come Together (The Beatles) Aerosmith's cover of Come Together is the only Beatles cover that's any good, IMO. Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted November 1, 2002 Nirvana, Man who sold the world (David Bowie song) Aerosmith, Come Together (Beatles Song) Bon Jovi, Bridge over Troubled Water (Simon and Garfunkle song) there are probably some other ones, but those are the three best off the top of my head. BTW, I clicked this thread thinking you meant album covers, so I was gonna say that Aphex Twin has done some pretty weird/cool covers.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 1, 2002 Type O and Marilyn Manson ahve both done great live versions of "Strawberry Fields forever" Redd Kross - "Fell in love w/ a girl" w/ the missing instrumentation Pearl Jam - "man of golden words" (mother love bone)
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 2, 2002 Type O did Strawberry Fields?? Is there an available recording of this anywhere? I've never heard it.
Guest red_file Report post Posted November 2, 2002 According to Type O Negative the only covers they've done live are listed here and "Strawberry Fields" is not among them. As always, there are several covers floating around that are erroneously attributed to TON, including the "Baby One More Time" and "Possession" covers. I've always been a fan of the Tori Amos cover of "Famous Blue Raincoat." There's something to it that she adds that Cohen lacks. Also every version of "Norwegian Wood" I've heard has been better than the Beatles version. From Alanis Morrisette's to the Kingston Trio's, none of them have that horrible random sitar plucking.
