Guest MrRant Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 thank you, this is a breath of fresh air from the GnR thread lol
Guest meanmaisch Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Not even close. Metallica has better tunes and much better staying power.
Guest MrRant Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 And to think... a band that disappeared (they did just disapear... they didn't start to suck like another unmentioned band and disappear) would cause this much tension.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 And to think... a band that disappeared (they did just disapear... they didn't start to suck like another unmentioned band and disappear) would cause this much tension. OOOHHH TAGG! I think I lost all credibility for Metallica when I heard about the Ja Rule thing... sure they rocked back when they were good, but... they're a shell of their former self. Plus, I think GNR was the better band AND had the better songs.
Guest thefrenchargel Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Metallica winning this is a travesty. God they suck. I hope they to a duet with Cher, collaborate with Linkin Park, and then all OD when people are turning on them.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 ok here why Metallica is better than GnR... Ok, I see that many of your arguments is that each member of GnR is more talented than each member of Metallica. Despite that being a lie (Metallica has better bass and vocal/rhythm guitar work) it is not the complication of a song that makes a band's songs good. An example of this is the Ramones, they made great songs, yet they had the simplest level of everything, simple as that. Metallica is somewhat like that as well. And when considering what exactly Metal is...Metallica is faster, and harder. Metallica embodies more of a rebellious sound considering all of the hair-metal bands of the 80s. GnR on the other hand, are more like a golden child, MTV jammed GnR down the throats of everyone, and people were forced to recognize GnR as a band, where Metallica had to do it soley based on their music. And for me the most important part of any band is how the lead singer sounds (personal preference) and James Hetfield I feel is one of the greatest vocalists ever, whereas Axl Rose sounds like a whiny little bitch. Also consider their live performances...Metallica when they perform live, they are just downright amazing, they keep the audience in the palm of their hands the entire time, and lovingly do sets that are in a 2-3 hour range. GnR...well your just lucky if Axl feels like performing at all that night So when you consider work ethic, vocals, and a flow of all instruments PUT TOGETHER Metallica is clearly the better band
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I just like G 'n R better. As a hard rock album, almost nothing to me can top Appetite For Destruction. Granted, the Use Your Illusion deal was a bit of a fiasco, but there's definitely one good 60-minute album between those two discs. AfD *is* GnR for me, so I have quite a favorable outlook on them. Metallica doesn't do it for me. Their early stuff, when they were really breaking down the barries of speed-metal and thrash, doesn't interest me. I'll take melodic black metal no prob, but thrash doesn't appeal to me. As the band evolved, I liked them a bit more, but I've never been too interested by much other than the singles. Most of their compositions feel bloated to me, way too serious for what they are. GnR sounds well-aware of their ridiculousness, and that's another point for them in my book.
Guest Black Lushus Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Count me in on the GNR fan club...hopefully Axl releases Chinese Democracy soon, I have a feeling his second go around may be a good one for him. hopefully he has grown up since his first go around and has his head on straight with his music, his performing and his fans...
Guest Flyboy Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 We just realize good music when we hear it..

Guest DARRYLXWF Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 This is like choosing between children, as they are my two favorite bands, but GNR gets my vote. Does that mean you'd kill off one child if you had to? I voted for Metallica by the way.
