i must defend NBT, maybe he has better things to spend on his money rather than a keyboard

See I know, but it's not much money to get a 5 dollar keyboard.

And NBT why should I be banned? Cus I flamed you in a folder called "NO HOLDS BARRED".

And so like they did in in 2001

Ric Flair and Lex Luger joined forces to combat the evil Hulkamania and the villainous Sting.

So I read through this entire damn thread, and you know, to say I'm a little pissed off at the actions of people on here is quite true.

So let's get started.

First off, way too many of you have too much pride in something you had no handle in its creation, development, maturation, and current existence. Hell, most of you act ignorant of basic facts and can only spew forth the blindingly dumb rhetoric our so-called world leaders care to share in their 30-second soundbytes.

Firstly, a history lesson on the military. America has often been accused of imperialist tendencies. Why? Because we, like many other countries, have this idea of a "Manifest Destiny"

Now, the land we occupy also just happens to be exceptionally rich in terms of natural resources. Coupled with the fact that this Western Hemisphere has two very LARGE oceans gives us a nice safety zone.

America supports pro-American governments, just as any nation A would support any pro-A nation. This is simple logic. Some ask why this notion that America is superior?

1) Natural Resources

2) Location, Location, Location

3) Comparative advantages early in our development in regards to agriculture and textiles.

4) Signficant absolute advantages in advanced schooling for the specialization era which began in the 1960's or so.

5) An ability to influence events significantly outside our home borders

6) Kurt Angle

Okay, so aside from the last, that's the basis of why America is currently referred to as the sole superpower.

Now, I'm glad LesnarLunatic pointed out that the list of so-called American terroristic activity was a load of crap. Bravo to you good sir, you got mondo respect points for that little diatribe.

As for Canada, unlike the US, your break with Britian was slightly more peaceful. However, unlike the US, your country faces a much colder climate and less usable land. This is why the vast majority of your population lives within a 100-mile band of the US/Canada border (And why else do we have to pay people to move to Alaska?)

While you may praise your health-care system, and it is impressive, a survey of statistics will show that for the moreso serious operations, one hell of alot of the world...comes here.

Multiculturalism? Hmm, your problems in Quebec between the French and English sub-cultures just about mimics our ethnic problems here, except you don't see a separatist movement anymore (We had that back 135 or so years ago)

So, that's my defence of America, and our so-called superiority. Notice, that's the superiority of the whole. America's population is greater than Canada's population and so forth. On an individual level, we're all equal. On that level, we can all have pride in the fact that we live in countries that don't see much war, don't see much hunger or suffering, and we can all turn on our televisions and hope to see some hockey break out in the middle of a fight.

I think alot of this got started with the issues about upside-down flags. Bah, pride once again. Or the ongoing TC/AngleSault lovefest. Whatever.

Now I'd gladly go on about 20 more pages about the economies of the two countries and the currency/exchange/interest and inflation effects as that's what I do FOR A LIVING, but I'm sure you all would find that rather boring.

In the end, check your facts, and make cogent arguments. I'm sick of the one line retorts, the jabs, the jostling. Think people...Then we won't have these petty threads, but actual honest conversation again

This has been the Big Poppa.

those six can be said about Canada as well, and Chris Benoit instead of Kurt Angle. The reason you guys are superpowers is because of the so called strong economy (which isn't strong right now) and your military

Now, I'm glad LesnarLunatic pointed out that the list of so-called American terroristic activity was a load of crap. Bravo to you good sir, you got mondo respect points for that little diatribe.

with help of global warming i think we can move northwards in about 40 years :)

every country has that kind of problems, but don't worry, that would be the worst thing that Quebec would do, 7 years ago when Canada economy was strong they would have went for independance, but now the economy is weak it would rather dumb to do that. But I blame the english for their mistake.

Please don't take this as a flame, but I don't understand how you can make the first post in one thread and then the second post in a different thread on the same topic.

If you're referring to me, this is the first post I've had on this whole topic.

Now, for RedBaron...

Vietnam.

The French occupied Vietnam after World War 2. Now, after they had gotten their butts whipped, they didn't have alot of men to go around, so when the Viet Minh started a revolt, the French kindly asked for some support. We sent our troops over there and allowed the French to get the hell out of dodge. That's how we started.

Then, because of the Western's "false because it was failing" concern of the domino effect of communism, we had a policy to block the Iron Curtain from closing over any more countries. This is why we started pouring money into various eastern european, middle-eastern, and Asian countries. Since the other Democratic powers were in the process of rebuilding their shattered economies, we were left with a black/white war that wasn't but was to stop this spread. That's why we got involved.

Now, notice. Once the American people saw our soldiers come back and heard what kind of government (The terribly corrupt Diem regime) the public backlashed and America learned a valuable lesson about propping up really crappy governments.

As per the 6 reasons why America is a superpower.

Canada did not have a comparitive advantage in argiculture. You all had that advantage in furs and trapping. You also lack (due to climate) alot of the soil richness America enjoys, and furthermore, water-power and water-access is moreso prevalent here, specially in the coastal to mid-regions.

The economy. Current leading indicators already have us out of the recession and back into growth. But wait...we never stopped growing. That's right, our growth rate just slowed, that's what we call a recession? LOL. Sure the stock market is tanked, but the vast majority of corporate financing (about 97%) is not done through Wall Street but in corporate bonds and paper, and those numbers are just fine. What the media loves to report are the shocking numbers, which happen to be the concurrent or lagging indicators. Too bad they're really old news and everything picking back up. It's also still a strong economy if you look at what's been going on with our interest/inflation rates. Interest is back at a decent level while inflation is practically non-existant. That's why the dollar has become so strong, as our economy still refuses to see prices rise while other countries have seen their price levels go up. It's all relative. I'll go into more detail if there's anything you'd like to challenge.

Global warming? Yeah, that's a laugh. Somehow I don't think y'all will be moving northward anytime soon. What we're experiencing is nothing more than a period where the earth warms up, just like others where its cooler...minor fluctuations in our orbit, but greenpeace wouldn't report that would they. They would seem rather silly to be panicing of a natural occurance.

Man tends to over-estimate his ability to influence and shape the world.

Just a little difference between your racial barriers, and the english and the french over here. The english dont hate the french, there has never been any riots based on these differences, the french and the english live quite peacefully together in the province of Quebec, no english cop beats down a french person harshly because they are french.

the global warming was just a joke.

the economy is still not as strong a few years ago, and i know what a recession is, and we do not lack soil richness. Its just different from American soil because of the more moisture and the coldness some of the climate is. While you guys have wheat and crops for food, so do we, its just you guys are further down south more able to produce more. We just produce lots of different types of lumber and great delicious potatoes :)

Actually, I'll find those studies when I get back from vacation.

And yeah I knew the global warming was a joke, I just have this little *angst* against the concept.

I'd also hesitate to call Canada a diverse country... it is, but on the scale o diversity, you all have alot of cultural homogenity

And just for the record, I'm not with this whole Anti-Canada vibe. I'm just preaching facts. If anyone flubs American stats, Ill pounce on their ass too

Yo, Bif, I read your apology in the other thread for the upside-down flag thing, so I was just wondering if the "U.S. vs. Canada" conflict has ended in a truce, or if it's still going on? Since there are several different threads on the topic, it's hard to tell; even though it's silly, I kinda hope it's not because I'm still having fun since I just started a few days ago... :D

well evenflow, I don't really know exactly. Since everyone got all hot and bothered about my American Flag avatar, I decided to post an apology to those who were offended. Although, I didn't really get many respectful replies accepting my apology. I was hoping that the apology thread would end it once and for all, but I don't think it will. Well, as long as we have maps of Canada's in our sig's and a bunch of assholes around....so will the 'war'.

*ps*

welcome to the Alliance 'Black Hart'
