Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted August 26, 2002 A draft I did this weekend 10 teams QB: Kurt Warner QB: Trent Green RB: Corey Dillon RB: Fred Taylor RB: DeShaun Foster RB: Stacey Mack WR: Rod Smith WR: Darrell Jackson WR: Ed McCaffery WR: Chris Chambers WR: Qadry Ismail TE: Jeremy Shockey K: Sebastian Janikowski DEF: Miami The one guy was actually trying to tell me that the WRs were the weak link on my team. Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 27, 2002 Brees Brady Griese fantasy season - Griese, tons of people to throw to
Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 27, 2002 so if I get Griese should I drop Brady or Brees? I have WR Branch and WR Conway which paired together with the QBs could be fruitful but considering other possiblities like getting WR Rod Gardner. what to do
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 27, 2002 I don't see any reason why you'd need to have wrs that pair with your qb. If there's an improvement at wr over what you in fa list then take the improvement. Conway is expendable and can be improved upon because Marty Shottenheimer is the coach of he Chargers. Old Marty is run run run pass run run run run pass. Out of Brees and Brady, Brady gets a slight edge. With Marty ball in town Brees won't be killing people with his passing and even if he does get to pass alot he doesn't have many reliable weapons. Brady also won't be getting amazing numbers, but he has better weapons if he does get to pass alot. Neither Brees or Brady are definate keepers. Both have risks that they won't play as well as people want them too. Both also play time control offenses. Brady gets the slight edge because of better weapons to use in passing game. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 27, 2002 So apparently now, the Patriots are NOT signing Jamal Anderson. Whatever..
Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 27, 2002 I shall consider the advice but having a WR & QB pair can double the fantasy points with TDs.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted September 1, 2002 Hey guys, a question for you. Faulk is the obvious no.1 in any draft, no quesion. But what then? since RB's are so important, you could go with Ahman Green or Alexander. But Warner will rule all quarter backs, and Terell Owens and Moss could have big years. Harrison, Manning, and Garcia are also solid. How do you guys think a round 1 should play out?
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 1, 2002 after the RB go with QB like Garcia, as he is far better than Manning in the TD/INT ratio. it should be RB 1st Faulk, QB 2nd Garcia, WR 3rdRod Smith, then repeat, round 7 go with defense Bears then kicker Tim Seder, then back ups. unless you can find a great TE like Gonzales, Sharp, Shockey, Bubba Franks, should be around round 5 or so. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted September 1, 2002 since RB's are so important, you could go with Ahman Green or Alexander. But Warner will rule all quarter backs, and Terell Owens and Moss could have big years. Harrison, Manning, and Garcia are also solid. Warner does not rule all QBs. The differences between him and the rest of the pack are minimal and he throws way too many INTs. Garcia should be the top QB selected, but no QB should be taken that early. I don't know how Round 1 should play out, but I do know how I would pre-rank my players. Owens will probably still be available later, but he SHOULD be the second player selected. 1) RB Marshall Faulk (Rams) 2) WR Terell Owens (49ers) 3) WR Randy Moss (Vikings) 4) RB Ahman Green (Packers) 5) WR Marvin Harrison (Colts) 6) RB Shaun Alexander (Seahawks) 7) RB LaDainian Tomlinson (Chargers) 8) QB Jeff Garcia (49ers) 9) QB Kurt Warner (Rams) 10) RB Curtis Martin (Jets) I'm only in one league right now, but the draft was more similar to what WILL likely happen. I had the final pick. 1) RB Marshall Faulk (Rams) 2) QB Kurt Warner (Rams) 3) RB Ahman Green (Packers) 4) RB Shaun Alexander (Seahawks) 5) QB Jeff Garcia (49ers) 6) RB Eddie George (Titans) 7) WR Terell Owens (49ers) 8) QB Brett Favre (Packers) 9) RB Priest Holmes (Chiefs) 10) WR Marvin Harrison (Colts) I chose both Harrison & Moss with the 10th & 11th picks, otherwise I would have chosen Moss before Harrison. If I ever came out of a draft with a QB (any QB) in the first round, especially with a high pick, I would not be too happy with how the draft went. You can get plenty of good QBs later (I got Griese in the 10th, and he will put up great numbers with Sharpe & McCaffrey back.)
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 1, 2002 it is a personal preferance, it all depends where you want to get your points from, RB and QB get the ball the most as the greats would average 20 TDs a season. While several WRs would get between 10-18 TDs unless they are near god like player of Terrell Owens or Marvin Harrison. So it is possible to spread the wealth among the WRs picking players that are not neccessary the best but will produce, like the Smiths of Rod & Jimmy or Johnsons, Keenan MacCardell, Tory Holt
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted September 2, 2002 My draft turned out to be very similar Kahran's. I got Owens and Moss with 10 and 11... If you're wondering why they were still avaliable, look at it like this. say you meet 9 people. What are the odds that 1 will take Faulk with the first pick, and the other 8 are all idiots? Judging by my league, I'd say the're very high. ...and I was the last person to pick my starting QB (Griese). In 3, 4, and 5, I took Deuce, Tiki, and Taylor. My thinking is that between the 3 of them, only one of them will be hurt at a time. (I hope) I agree about Griese, with McCaffery and Sharpe back, he should get closer to his 2000 numbers. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 2, 2002 I did another NFL.com draft tonight. But i'm kinda pissed off because i had first pick and forgot about what time it was and missed the first three rounds. The computer drafted Warner in the first, Dolphins defense in the second and Priest in the third for me so other then the second round pick i can't complain too much. But still i wanted Faulk not Warner and i wanted a rb in the 2nd so i would've had two good backs to start off with. Warner, Kurt QB(Rams) Testaverde, Vinny QB(Jets) Henry, Travis RB(Bills) Holmes, Priest RB(Chiefs Green, William RB(Browns) Johnson, Kevin WR(Browns) Jackson, Darrell WR(Seahawks) Freeman, Antonio WR(Eagles) Franks, Bubba TE(Packers) Stevens, Jerramy TE(Packers) Edinger, Paul K(Bears) Hall, John K(Jets) Dolphins D Browns D I know everyone will wonder why i drafted two TEs, Ks and Defenses. Well it isn't because i wanted to. The league rules said each team has to draft 2 TE's, k's and DT and can only draft 2 qbs, 3 rbs and 3 wrs. I'm going to cut John Hall and pick up a fourth WR and i may cut a dt or te for a fourth rb or fifth wr.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2002 I got a trade proposal in one of my leagues.. I'm being offered Peyton Manning for Terrell Owens. I have Daunte Culpepper and Drew Brees as my QBs and really don't need a third QB. If I deal off Owens, I would be stuck with this for my WR core. Keenan McCardell - WR Kevin Dyson - WR Peter Warrick - WR David Terrell - WR Should I take this trade or leave it?

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Yet another NFL.com league. I think this is the best fantasy team i've ever drafted and i'm very happy with it. Gannon, Rich Brooks, Aaron Alexander, Shaun Dillon, Corey Thomas, Anthony Brown, Tim Booker, Marty Price, Peerless Franks, Bubba Lewis, Chad Longwell, Ryan Gramatica, Bill Browns Broncos I'm getting rid of Gramatica for a fourth rb or wr. I will also get rid of one of te defenses for whatever position i don't get rid of Gramatica for. I also figure to get some trade offers flying around. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Rate this team, it's my NFL Home Team Challenge team from NFL.com: Drew Bledsoe - QB Anthony Thomas - RB Kevan Barlow - RB Terrell Owens - WR Marvin Harrison - WR Tony Gonzalez - TE Martin Gramatica - K Rams - DEF I would have a better QB, but, I picked up Harrison and Gonzalez which set my unit at 300 or something close to that. Not bad and Bledsoe should be just fine for you. However Barlow may hurt your team early at least. He will be a good fantasy back before long but he may be a year away. As it stands now he will be splitting carries. Unless he just completely amazes the coaches or Hearst gets off to a slow start or gets hurt Barlow won't get great numbers. Even if something happens that gets Barlow more carries it will be a few weeks into the season so you should try and get a good backup if any are left on the free agent list. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Anyone want to give me advice on my team? If Barber is hurt, should I replace him with Mike Alstott? Well you better hope Barber stays healthy because i guarantee that Bettis won't. You should look for another backup running back since "The Bus" is running out of gas and that Barber has a minor inury that could return and hurt his performances. Alstott is a good backup but you should try to get another backup to go with him. Clinton Portis and TJ Duckett are both free agents and either would make for a good backup. Portis will probably get more touches then Duckett so is robably the better of the two but Duckett will likely get alot of td chances near the goal line. Also if i were you i'd replace one of your wrs with Antonio Freeman. Gadsden and Shroeder are decent but Freeman will be getting alot of looks from McNabb as he will be his only truly reliable wr
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 4, 2002 replace Tiki Barber unless return yards are a factor, I think Shockey will be a major factor this season as he has been annoited ROY by everyone. The Short game belongs to the rookie. Get Alstott or one of those rookie RBs now and change the DEF to Ravens as the Panthers are not going to score more than the Broncos
