Who are the "Sports Heels" to you?

Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic

The Canseco thing was a waiver mistake- they claimed Canseco figuring Tampa would pull him back- Tamap didn't.

Yeah, I forgot about that. But, they wouldn't have tried to make Tampa pull him back if they didn't have the money to cover his salary.

Every call went the King's way in Game 6?! Are you freaking kidding me? Did you watch that game? That was screaming "We're getting Game Seven out of this even if you little rascals should be winning in 6".

Uh, Webber should've fouled out of Game Six. Of this is the game I'm thinking of, they gave Webber a couple of breaks calling fouls on Pollard instead of him.

The Sox have. Witness Jose Offerman, Tony Clark, Troy O'Leary, and Mike Lansing.

Well, sorta. There's a big difference between Jason Gimabi and Tony Clark, even before his meltdown this year. Those aren't the same caliber names that the Yankees pick up, but I get your point.

Why is he one dimensional. His hands where fine. He was one of the best Punt Returners of all time. His tackling wasn't great but he was decent enough taking into consideration shutting down the other teams top receiver was what he was supposed to do. IMO...Sanders was the best CB of all time.

Seriously, you're just buying into his and the media's hype. The media LOVED him, because he never got tired of talking about himself. Look, there were a lot of things that Deion couldn't do well - tackle, blitz, catch a ball over the middle, do something in traffic. And I understand that he wasn't ASKED to make a ton of tackles, but that's just hiding someone's weakness.

Honestly, no I don't think any CB today has the cover skills Sanders had in his prime. Guys like Woodson (health) and Bailey are excellent and may some day be just has good or better.

They've gotta be very close, Vern. Woodson, Bailey, Shawn Springs, Ty Law, Sam Madison ... they all have to be at least close. And Rod Woodson was close in his prime. Of course, you'll never know that because no one wants to market these guys the way they marketed Deion.

Yankees & Mariners: I hate the Yankees just because they keep winning and beating my Oakland A's, and I hate how the Mariners just suddenly got all these fans.

The Mariners have had a lot of fans for a while. Since about '95 (was that the year they went to the wire with the Yankees?), they've been able to draw a whole lot of fans. And you can't expect a club that's had marquee guys like Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey, Alex Rodriguez, and now Ichiro to not draw. Hell, M's fans were going in droves to see Jay Buhner. JAY BUHNER.

He left his team of scrappy youngesters that he led into battle to join up with not just any team, the Yankees. The A's arch rival the past two years and posterchild for rich vs. poor in sports. In addition to "selling out" to the rich team, he changed the way he dressed, changed the way he talked, and changed his uniform # to 25 (the number of good friend and former A's player Mark McGwire who also left for a richer baseball town.)

a.) Everyone's biggest rival is the Yankees. Even a team like, oh, the Royals gets fired up to beat the Yankees.

b.) I understand that the Yankees have a lot more money to throw around, but they didn't "buy" Giambi. He didn't "sell out". He went to where he wanted to be. He would've played in Yankee Stadium for less money.

c.) The Yankees have strict rules about look and style. It's part of the whole "mystique" thing. You play for the Yankees, you follow their rules. It's that simple. Remember when Steinbrenner went after Don Mattingly's sideburns? DON MATTINGLY. He doesn't care who you are, you follow the rules.

d.) What's really disrespectful is John Sterling and the YES Network idiots calling Jason the "Giam-bino". Give him two or three years before you start throwing him in THAT class.

e.) McGwire hung on in Oakland for a lot longer that he could/should have.

I don't think Ed Wade belongs on that list either. He turned John Mabry into JEREMY GIAMBI. And Bobby Abreu was aquired for the low low price of Kevin Stocker. Plus the farm system is the best its been in 20 years.

I FINALLY got to see Marlon Byrd play on Wednesday. He's the real deal. Wave bye-bye to Doug Glanville, Philadelphia.

Doug's a decent guy, but he's pretty much done with the Phillies, unless he comes back as a backup. I don't think any team would pay him the salary that he is getting now if he ventured into the free agency arena for starter's money. It looks like it's the bench for Doug for now on.

I'd like to see Glanville in the broadcast booth. It's a shame he's not a good player, because he's one of the most likeable players around.

We're forgetting the one sports heel I hate worse than Bud Selig...Art Modell.

"I have to leave Cleveland, I'm not making any money."

The only way you could lose money running the Cleveland F'N Browns is to be the biggest fuckup on the entire planet. They sell out every game in a 75,000+ seat stadium even when they suck, and they have at least one chapter of the "Browns Backers" fan club in every state. What was he spending the money on, hookers and hard liquor?

I absolutely can not stand Barry Bonds. The guy's a total dick head, and after all the shit I've had to listen to after him hitting #600 I want to shoot myself. I mean jeebus every single at bat after 599 they'd cut into other baseball games to show. Then when he finally hits the fucker they act like it's the second coming of Jesus Christ. Me and my dad sit through 55 minutes of Barry Bonds dick sucking on sports center waiting for the top 10 not-plays of the week, and after like 4 of them we get this lovely interupt "We hate to interupt the top 10 not-plays of the week, but Barry Bonds hit his 600th homer tonight, now to the press conference". And that was it. I waited through almost an hour of the Barry Bonds Blow-Job Show, and got like 4 bloopers out of 10 so they could go to a fucking press conference. DIE BONDS DIE!
